I like the two comments on this article, while I can agree its getting out of hand.
What are we afraid of though?? Okay you know I drove to the grocery store.....pretty exciting stuff.

For me, it's a line in the sand and they crossed it. Yes generally if you are driving out in public and the police see you and know you are a wanted for X crime they can chase you.
However, storing info on citizens who are NOT suspected of any crime (or only "minor" failure to get an updated inspection sticker) doesn't exactly further the purpose of law enforcement's #1 task of protecting/serving the public.
You say "what are we afraid of?" I say "what do they want with all that info/data on innocent/private people's lives". It's just the opposite side of the same coin. IMHO they want all of this data for a reason and it has to do with knowledge/power/control over the people who they supposedly serve but in reality we have a ruling class and the ruled class.

Man CLW you are more paranoid than me and I'm black! :D
I see what you are saying though, and let me clear I am not a fan of it, but in all honesty what can I do about it??......pretty much nothing.

Actually IMO this would be more inline with why the ACLU exist more than some of the other things (see prayer in school, etc) that they seem to enjoy getting involved in.
