Via Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/ncaa-football-14-demo-offers-three-matchups-for-a-new-c-513866913), EA has released the details of the NCAA Football 14 demo which drops tomorrow (June 18th). Included in the demo are three matchups, Virginia Tech vs Alabama (Chick-fil-A Kickoff), Ohio State vs Michigan, and Oregon at Texas A&M. The quarter length is limited to 3 minute quarters, however the user will have the ability to change the rest of the gameplay settings including difficulty and gameplay sliders. New this year, users will be able to try out the additional camera angles in the game: Regular, Zoom, Wide, & Coordinator.

In addition to the three matchups, users will also have access to the new Nike Skills Trainer which attempts to teach users the finer mechanics of the game including how to run the Read Option as well as some of the more basic functions of the game such as proper passing with the lead mechanic that was added in NCAA 13.

Finally, users will be given Ultimate Team giveaways as incentives for playing and sharing the demo.

While we don't know the official times for when the demo will be released, typical release schedule would have the 360 XBL Marketplace updated between 5 & 6 AM EST while the PSN Store would be updated sometime later in the afternoon.

No. In today's day & age, if he can't take a picture or video of it with his name or face in the picture, then don't believe him. Even if he can, he could just be posing in front of a video from E3 or something. It would take a lot to convince me he had it.


That said, a number of years ago (last gen maybe), there was a guy that was doing QA for EA that started posting pictures of the game, bragging how he had it early, etc. Shortly after that, he was never heard from again.

Yes, Microsoft is the one that created the 7 day rule (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/silver-live-demos-restricted). Did it back in 2007. Have always had a Gold membership so I have no clue if developers can tweak how many days until a Silver member can download it.

Yeah, I was watching Spaceballs earlier this morning (bought the Mel Brooks Collection on Blu-ray a week or two ago on Amazon when they had it as a Gold Box deal for cheap). Originally was looking for just a Dark Helmet picture to make the change with, but then I saw that one with the assholes quote, and immediately had to choose that as my new avatar. :D

And yeah, the demo still isn't showing up on 360, both on the console and online. Screw it. It's after 7am now and I'm tired as hell, time to hit the sack. Maybe it'll be updated and available later today when I wake up. Whether or not I actually bother to download and play it later today will depend. I have an ass whooping to hand out to Arizona State in my dynasty on 13 yet to do sometime today. :)

That was the word we got but I am playing All-American for both CPU offense and CPU defense. However, the User vs User difficulty is set to Varsity so not sure if that maybe overrides it. I'll test and see.

Heisman doesn't make a difference. .....as someone just said (hitstick I think) it only shows when viewing the play art stuff (checking your play) I would have still hoped it was disabled completely for higher levels...its a dead give away on who to read and will make it easier (its already not hard) to run the option

Sorry for the confusion. The particular play I was talking about was with the defense in Dime Cover 0 blitz with the MLB & slot CB blitzing. The SS was assigned to the slot WR but kept a Cover 2 depth instead of lining right up on the WR like he would in NCAA13.


I just now called 4-3 Cover 0 blitz with both safeties blitzing and they are coming up into the box.

I just played 1 game as Oregon's offense (I forced aTm to punt on 1st down whenever they got the ball) and pretty much just ran the ball to get a feel for the options. Here are some general observations:


The menus are pretty slow. With all the hype I expected them to be much faster.
Watching E3 vids I LOVED the coordinator cam. As a run-first guy, it felt too far away and made it tougher to run. I can definitely see it being nice for passing.
Wide felt too far away for running the ball as well. Strangely enough, I vastly preferred the normal camera (but again I was pretty much only running this game). Will definitely try coordinator and wide out some more later.
Options felt very good. Not overpowered, but the felt very good. The number of different option types is almost staggering.
I feared that zombie nation would be played all the time. I forgot all about it until I was stopped on 4th down with 1 minute left in the 4th quarter as that was the 1st time I heard it.
I could be mistaken, but I don't think the stumble recovery indicator showed up on my impact guys (because it had a star in the circle already).

EVERY single play in that formation has the WR (whom I assume would be DAT for Oregon and there's a package with him there) coming with the same automotion, yet there's 12 different plays that can happen when the ball is snapped!

Couple things: First, I ended up with a WR getting pulled backwards on top of a couple defenders, knee never touched and he got up and we kept matriculating the ball down the field :) Was a cool play.

Another cool play was a sideline pick that was incomplete because my dude landed OOB. Only issue here is that the game clock kept running afterwards. Don't know if that's for all OOB catches or just int, but something to check out for EA.

Currently down 21-16 on AA to Oregon to start 4th as big plays have killed me. 2nd half KO return for a TD was the biggest, as my 2 outside gunners got FLATTENED. One of them was double teamed though so I felt it was just plain old fashioned whippin' and not cheap.

Their qb is murdering on the read, then play action has resulted in some nice throws for them.

Also, wondering if it's just the demo but players are randomized for the first time ever. Will the retail have the "real" players or totally random in an attempt to avoid the suit?

I think the menus are much improved actually...

Yeah I found that. I was hoping for inverted veer to be in there but it isn't at least in that playbook. Hopefully it's an option in CPBs. If not I'll be pretty disappointed.

First game, I beat Oregon 28-16. Oregon threw 3 INTs in the first half but seemed to get a better rhythm in the 2nd half. Overall I like the feel of the game. Feels a bit more balanced & I like the new plays I've seen. Don't really care for the new cameras right now but I could get used to them I think. Gotta work the rest of the day but hopefully I can get another game or 2 in tomorrow.

As Kwizzy stated, I hope the Veer is in Pistol Diamond in other playbooks, or available for a created PB. This play is a gamechanger to me, especially for someone like me who runs OffTackle a lot from Shotty 2-Back. Overall, I love the feel of the game. The engine feels much more refined from Madden 13, visuals really pop off the screen. Pretty impressed. Still seeing some alignment issues, & deep blues still are horribly played by safeties during Cover 4.

I'm just glad it's finally smooth to play. The past several editions have been so jerky I couldn't stand it. This is how the game should have felt all along.

I do think it's going to be all offense, especially online. When I'm able to go 14/17 for 189 and 4 Touchdowns all while rushing for 100 yards in a 12 minute game on Heisman, I'm not too encouraged by the potential of there being a whole lot of defense.

Still, I'm so overjoyed that it's finally smooth that I really don't care. Hopefully online is just as smooth.

Yeah I've been RESIGNED to the fact that there will be ZERO defense in this game (unless sliders by some miracle that only Tebow could pull off actually work). However, I suppose an argument can be made that that is where football is now. No more 7-0 scores we are now in the era of "basketball on grass".

During one of the plays, I was Texas A&M playing Oregon, the center snapped the ball, but it never went to the QB. The center held onto the ball and was immediately tackled by the nose guard. I'm pretty certain it's some sort of bug, but I could be wrong. Has anyone else had this occur?

I don't think a single option run went for negative yardage for me. Defense is going to need to be turned up for both the user and CPU. No pancake blocks recorded for either team. Both Michigan scores featured some unique "physics". First one the TE caught the ball, did a half flip into a collision with two DBs, then reversed the flip, stood up and ran. The second the TE was hemmed in on the sideline with three defenders coming at him, who all ran into one another and dog piled while the TE calmly trotted into the end zone.

The increased complexity of the option in the game is a welcome addition. I do think the defensive counters at this point are woefully inadequate.

YES!! Demo time! Well after dinner and it gets done downloading it ha. 32% this is going pretty quick for 2gb. I will have to use both system demos to decided on what system to get it for. I played 1 user vs user game on default AA and defense definitely needs some love. Still issues with corners not dropping if they have no threat while in cover 2. Also noticed some poor pursuit angles in the game. The option should be DEADLY this year.

I just played one half with A&M against Oregon. It was tied 14-14. The game does seem smoother and crisper on the PS3 this year. I think Madden will still be better in this area but it's better. I liked the crowd noises and player chatter. I can't remember a thing Herbie has said during the demo. Even after a couple years away I still tune him out. They really need to get a new team. The new physics are nice.

Right now my head is sort of spinning after only one half. I'm rusty and the co-ordinator cam is probably my biggest disappointment so far. It looked great on the videos but it seems so far away on the running plays. It will take some adjusting to. I was just playing default AA but I noticed they got rid of the pass rush slider. I don't know if that's a mistake in the demo or not. The pass block slider is all we really need but with sliders at 5 point increments it will make it tougher - real tough if the slider isn't strong enough. The cpu was certainly able to run the option against me.

I will have to play more tonight after the kids are in bed. I liked my short time so far.

Just saw Offensive PI! First time in 4 seasons! Lob on a streak and I'm not sure what happened to get the PI cause no instant replay. CB got stopped (push off?) and safety came over while both competed for the ball and it got knocked down...

Another play had the Ohio St. QB try an immediate throw to a WR that just went to the ground a few feet away from the qb. Wonder if it's a bug on the play.

Played one game as A&M on default AA and won in OT 10-6. The colors are pretty amazing. The field looks great as well. Thought the crowd noise was much better and the player chatter does add to the immersion factor. It's going to take some time for me to get accustomed to how slow the runners are. Personally, I feel there is too big of a difference between regular speed and the 'turbo' speed. But overall the game is great! :)

There is a slight pause or glitch every time the running back receives a pitch from the QB. It happens on designed pitch plays not on option plays. Has anyone else noticed it? You can especially notice it when you are in the skills training section of the game. Also, it seems like it may be there after a catch too but not always.

Well call me McDonalds because I am loving it so far. The game looks great and is a much needed change over the last few years by adding some color to the palette and just looks cleaner all around. The running game is fun so far. Yeah, you get weird stuff every so often but it is nice to have juke moves that actually work again. Finally just got rid of sprint (user/auto), which is great as it is now a speed burst and YOU have to control it, which is what video games are about. Last year the spin move was useless, not this year. Defense will be a challenge, no doubt but it is cool they created difficulty levels for offense/defense. My only gripe so far might be leaving Auto Strafe on. It seems to put you in odd positions and almost freezes you when you witch to a defender closest to the ball. Made it easy for the CPU to juke around me. Need to mess around this more and consider turning it off.

Default camera played very nicely and while I will try out the other cameras, I can be content with default. Kudos to AI in having Oregon for going fro a fake punt when it was logical (field and time) to do so, though it was stopped.

So Rudy what's the deal with Canada??? NCAA isn't available in the PSN store. I got your message but I cannot download anything. Any particular reason why Canada has not been given the release? :(

I just created a 2nd account on my PS3 in the US and downloaded it from the US store. Only took a couple minutes to create it and that's my only suggestion to you. We got hosed I guess.


Everyone LOVED the Coordinator cam from the E3 videos, but most of us seem to dislike it in the demo. I wonder if that's because it looks better in the videos instead of in person (although everyone actually playing @ E3 seemed to love it) or if maybe EA tweaked it since E3 and we're playing with a different version.

Sadly for me, as a run first guy, coordinator cam (after 2 full games of trying it) is pretty much unplayable.

I'm with you and Jayrah on this. I really, really liked this camera from the videos. I need to give it more time but the running game is too zoomed out for me right now. I think the Madden default cam may be the best of any option but I'll have to wait and see that for myself as well.

I briefly played the demo earlier, played one game of Ohio State vs. Michigan. It was alright. Some things that are definitely better, some that are worse. My anticipation for NCAA '14 is probably about the same as it was before the demo. It didn't do anything to increase my anticipation, but it didn't do anything to taper it either. Ultimately I probably won't play the demo much more than a few games, especially since I'm still finishing out the last season of my dynasty on '13.

Loving the demo so far! First game Ohio State vs scUM won 10-7 on last second FG game feels very fresh and smooth loving it July 9th couldnt come any faster! Bout to fool atound play a couple more games of the demo!

So far this has been some amazing game play. I love just about everything about it. I haven't seen a halftime show yet, players falling over each other after the play, and after some TD's it just an 15 second awkward moment of nothing happening. The read option is DEADLY. The fact that their are so many different kinds of options also is amazing. So far I would give this a solid 9/10.

Something subtle I've noticed is the different sounding clicks in the playcall screen. Kinda like those. I'm playing on AA for both offense and defense, so we'll see how it shakes out.
