Telltale’s The Walking Dead Season Two On Track For Release This Fall

Rumors swirled today about the release window for Season Two of Telltale’s The Walking Dead. It sparked after Eurogamer's interview with Telltale CEO Dan Connors after The Walking Dead Season One was awarded the Best Story BAFTA Game Award. When asked about the release of the next season of The Walking Dead, according to Eurogamer, Dan Connors responded, “We’re aiming for fall of next year.” This made it seem like it was releasing in fall of 2014.

We reached out to Telltale Games to get confirmation if we’d really have to wait that long to see the fate of our favorite characters. Telltale responded with the following statement:

"The current estimated release window for Season Two of The Walking Dead is for fall of ‘this’ year (2013), and not ‘next’ year (2014) as has been reported after a recent interview. We apologize for any confusion and thank you and all of our fans for your continued excitement for Telltale’s series."

I’m sure fans of The Walking Dead all just breathed a sigh of relief; after all, season one ended with some lingering questions and we just can’t wait that long to see what happens at the top of that hill.

Available this summer, The Walking Dead: 400 Days will be available for purchase on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation Network, as an in-app purchase for compatible iOS devices, and on PC and Mac from the Telltale Online Store and other digital outlets.

The Walking Dead: 400 Days chronicles the horrific aftermath of the undead outbreak through the eyes of five new characters as they struggle to survive the first 400 days of the apocalypse. Playable in any order, the five connected short stories are centered in and around a Georgia truck stop, where players will be thrust into horrifying situations that will test their morals and control the flow of the story through their decisions and actions.

The Walking Dead: Season One is coming to the PlayStation Vita handheld entertainment system and will include The Walking Dead: 400 Days. Featuring hybrid touch controls unique to PS Vita, fans can now take the apocalypse on the road and enjoy the entirety of Season One in one package.

Have they said anything on cost? I'm guessing, on 360, it'll probably be 1200 to 1600 MSP.

Yep, same here. I got Walking Dead after all five episodes had already come out. Sat there the week I bought it playing one episode a night over five nights. It was a damn good game, damn good story. I hate cliffhangers so damn much on TV (one of my favorite TV shows, 24, used cliffhangers all the damn time), so I definitely don't want to put up with the waiting for a new episode to come out for season 2 of this game.

From Sony (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/10/29/the-walking-dead-season-two-coming-to-ps3-and-ps-vita/):

We can confirm today that The Walking Dead: Season Two – A Telltale Games Series continues Clementine’s story. Not only will you see Clem again, you’ll actually be playing as her, struggling to outwit both the dead and the living in situations that will test your morals and shape the flow of the story through your decisions and actions.

Not familiar with Clementine? She’s a young girl orphaned at the outset of the undead apocalypse, and in Season Two, she’s now left to her own devices to seek safety and survive. Her story starts in the first season of The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series. If you want to get caught up on where it all began before playing the sequel, you can start by downloading the first episode of Season One FREE for PlayStation 3 on PSN right now!

The Walking Dead: Season Two – A Telltale Games Series will consist of five episodes that will release for digital download over the course of the season, expected to premiere this year and conclude in 2014. You’ll be able to purchase episodes individually as they release for PS3 and PS Vita via PSN, or get the season pass for the best value.

Even more news on The Walking Dead front! This November, we’ll be releasing a special Game of the Year edition of Season One for PS3.
The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series – Game of the Year Edition will include all five episodes of the award-winning series, the DLC episode ’400 Days’, and access to the series’ original score and exclusive behind the scenes video. You can preorder it right now at retailers in North America for $29.99.

Not long now ’til we kick off a new season of tough choices and life-or-death decisions! Stay tuned for more details coming very soon, including a more formal release date for the season premiere. We can’t wait to share the journey with you, our fellow survivors!

Yeah, I'm doing the same. I didn't buy season 1 until all 5 episodes had already been released. Instead of waiting a month between episodes, I ended up going through all 5 in one week, starting with episode 1 on Monday night and playing through to episode 5 on Friday night. The story had a much deeper impact going through the entire thing in just a couple days instead of playing one episode then having to wait a month for the next one, etc, forced to wait nearly a half a year just to finish the thing.

The Wolf Among Us is another TellTale game in the vain of The Walking Dead. That's about all I can tell you about it.

The Game of Thrones game is also like the The Walking Dead. While the characters in TWD game aren't related to the TV show or comics, the Game of Thrones game is directly tied to the TV show. It's nothing that the TV show covers. It's essentially a "while this major thing was happening on the show, this thing was happening elsewhere in the world" game. I can't tell you if it'll be confusing or not but not having knowledge of the show means you won't get everything in the game.

So finished Season 2....

I shot Kenny and left Jane so I'm all alone with AJ

I shot him too but I stuck with Jane. Gonna need help raising the baby and Jane was the only useful person in season 2.

Did you let the new family in or did you tell them to F off?

I let them in. They have a kid so I doubted they had evil intentions

Yeah I think that's the best call you can make if you decide to go with her. I just could not believe the 1st time I went against Kenny in either season and of course it was the wrong choice IMHO. No way in hell I could stay with her. In fact, I wanted to kill her. Apparently there is an option to kill Kenny if you let him kill Jane which ends up the same spot I ended in.

By the time the story got there, I knew Kenny had to go if given the option. He was a maniac and couldn't stay cool under pressure.

He definitely had cracked by then (who wouldn't after losing your son, wife #1, wife #2) but I guess after 20+ hours with that character you develop a loyalty/bond to him and he's the last guy (other than yourself) left from Season 1. I was just PISSED at Jane when I found out she had just put the baby safely in the backseat of a car to set Kenny up to be killed. IMHO that's just as "maniac" as Kenny's behavior and I wanted to kill her but wasn't given the option so I definitely could not trust her after that.

That didn't upset me. The baby was relatively safe. I don't see any other way for her to prove her point. A point that she was correct in. Kenny had to go. He was dangerous.

Of course the big ? is how are they going to do a Season 3 with so many WILDLY different endings for the players. Do they build basically 5 versions of season 3 to start off of: (1) Kenny, Clem, AJ on their own; (2) Clem AJ in this new community which we know nothing about; (3) Clem, Jane, AJ by themselves; (4) Clem, Jane, AJ and the 3 new characters; (5) Clem AJ by themselves. Its just going to be really difficult to build a game off of that unless you fast forward years into the future and never explain what happened.

It'll converge by having everyone die in the beginning probably.

Perhaps - or they could do the wake up from the dream and Season 3 starts back in the RV with Lee, Kenny, Clem, Katjaa and Duck

People will lose their MINDS if that happens.

Just finished it the other day, glad that I picked up Season2.
I killed Kenny and stuck with Jane. I let the family in, but am suspicious since they didn't look related at all......

I capped Kenny and bailed on that lying bitch jane. The ethical problem with jane proving a point is that she lied. Everyone has a breaking point, and she lied to show Kenny's. Should have let Kenny kill her but then I would have been wrong. Never saw this family of three. Great game even if it was scripted like the NFL. :)

All these fancy upgrades to Tapatalk but there's no way to hide material marked as spoilers from showing in the master timeline.

EDIT: Appears that "The Complete Season" is all five episodes plus a "very special episode of", while the Season Pass has five episodes plus a theme. Correct?

I might be wrong on this but I think the Season Pass is just for DLC so you would need the full game 1st. "The Complete Season" should be the game + all of the DLC. However, you should double check/confirm before buying because I might be wrong.

I had the same dilemma when I bought that game. It wasn't clear what the hell I should buy. When you figure it out, it is well worth it. Very entertaining game.
