EA SPORTS has posted a new blog detailing some of the improvements coming to the "sights and sounds" of NCAA Football 14 (http://www.easports.com/ncaa-football/news/article/ncaa-football-14-presentation-blog).

The blog notes the team's focus on getting accurate uniforms into the game (including getting them into the game as soon as possible), the addition of Seven Nation Army & Kernkraft 400, and also includes screenshots from some of the new playable camera angles coming to the game.

Click here (http://www.easports.com/ncaa-football/news/article/ncaa-football-14-presentation-blog) or continue on to read the entire blog.

College is a time to express your true identity, and collegefootball teams seem to be embracing that mantra wholeheartedly. Alternate uniforms, base layers, team-specific gloves and more have become commonplace (word choice) in the college game, and the team behind NCAA Football 14 is working feverishly to keep up with the nation’s new looks.

Those new uniforms go a long way to nailing the college stadium atmosphere. The NCAA Football franchise has moved even closer to replicating the real thing this year, with the introduction of two stadium anthems.

“When You Look Good, You Play Good”

The above quote comes from former University of Oregon running back Kenjon Barner, who took a few moments while he was visiting the EA SPORTS Orlando studio to talk about Oregon’s love of trend-setting uniforms. While alternate and throwback jerseys have been around for years, it’s hard to think of uniform variety without thinking of the Ducks. The team has been tinkering with its look since 1998, providing a staggering number of combinations of jerseys, helmets and pants.

It seems these days everyone is getting in on the action, and the NCAA Football 14 team has been working closely with Adidas, Nike, Russell, and Under Armour to keep up with all the new looks and get them into the game. Teams will be debuting new uniforms every week of the upcoming season, and the goal is to get the new looks into the game as quickly as possible.

Building a Seven Nation Army

The familiar strains of Jack White’s guitar-turned-bass and the chant of “Oh… Oh-OH-oh oh OHH OHH” is probably a sound you’ve heard a million times at sporting events, and when Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes kicks up you’re ready to join in the refrain with more than 100,000 of your closest friends. The song, which came to America via Penn State’s Blue-White scrimmage in 2006, has become a staple in the sports world, and you’ll hear that chanted bass line echoing around football stadiums every weekend in the fall.

In a similar vein, many fans are also familiar with Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation, the electro-funk song that has been getting crowds jumping and chanting for over a decade. Traditionally, Kernkraft 400 has been used to pump fans up during timeouts or as a way to keep the crowd hot after a big play, making it hard for visitors to regain their composure.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8273/8697743928_cbcd18d13c_o.jpg

This year NCAA Football 14 will be bringing that same emotion to the virtual gridiron, firing up virtual crowds with both Seven Nation Armyand Kernkraft 400. One of our goals was to keep these experiences authentic to how they’re used in actual NCAA stadiums, so expect to hear the crowd get particularly loud and imposing right before a kickoff or during a key 3rd down situation. Like our other crowd chants, these audio clips were taken from actual games and live crowds. The team traveled to more than 30 different FBS games last year, and every time one or both of these songs played to fire up the crowd.

For those with school spirit to spare, don’t worry. You’ll still get to hear “Rocky Top,” “Glory, Glory,” “Buckeye Battle Cry” and all your other favorites, but there will be yet another layer of realism to the crowd.

Gaining New Perspective

Another new feature is the ability to play games from one of three new camera angles. First up is the Wide camera, which presents the game from an angle akin to the “All 22” coach’s film. This full shot of the field keeps all players in frame and will allow players to keep tabs on all players at all times.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8560/8697743968_4440450d6d_o.jpg

There is also the Zoom camera, which starts off from tackle-to-tackle and stays close to the ball throughout. If you want get the perspective of the QB or one of the backs then this is a good choice.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8545/8697744012_5f5e79495b_o.jpg

Last but not least is the Coordinator camera, which provides a view of the whole field initially, but dynamically zooms in during the play to follow the action. Traditionalists can still enjoy the Standard camera, but the new camera offers additional perspectives for anyone that wants to experience the game from a new angle. In addition, all these cameras will also be available in Road to Glory.

The new uniforms, stadium sounds and camera angles make NCAA Football 14 the most immersive in the series to date.

The grass and field texture looks better than last year, IMO. I'm also digging this camera angle. The other two are a little too far back for MY liking. I'm sure others prefer the higher/wider angles.

Looks good but I hope one of these years they can address the painted concrete field. I will surely try out the new coordinator cam but the wide camera has some potential for seeing the whole field.

I can't wait to see how "quick" they update uniforms. And if they get them ALL in. Last year was a joke. They came out too late and only a handful even came out at all.

I'm guessing that the Coordinator Cam will be the most playable, but I'll give the wide one a shot. All 22 is overdue.

Can someone PLEASE Tell EA if they can get every little detail to Michigan right to give the same respect for the OU/Texas game. It's NEVER played at night. NEVER. It's a 11 AM or 2:30 kick only. Oklahoma gets the endzone with the tunnel EVERY YEAR. The fans NEVER ROTATE. This is so annoying. CDJ, can you PLEASE pass this along? I know they can make simple changes like this at the last minute. They did it for Florida State one year.

I probably spend most of my time in the zoom camera, but I like the coordinator camera angle, I can see that being useful.

As others have posted, I'm really impressed with how much better the crowd looks. The color is more rich; in fact, the game visually just looks much better than last year. It's something that I can't wait to play on an HD tv. The main things I really want to see now is if we get more defensive adjustments pre-snap, the CPU option game, online enhancements & gameplay. So far, I'm pretty excited, and optimistic for the game.

The crowds/field do look better. Sidelines too hard to tell but I'm doubting they made any real improvements there (no chain gang; generic looking players; etc...)

The new camera views are very interesting. The coordinator and wide angles both look like they are really nice and usable. Not sure how the zoom would work if you liked to pass out wide.

Oklahoma gets the endzone with the tunnel EVERY YEAR. The fans NEVER ROTATE.

True and False. Texas has simply declined the option.

Historically, the Oklahoma fans have occupied the south end zone, which contains the tunnel where both teams enter and exit the field.Beginning in 2007, the teams will have the option to alternate North and South ends of the field, thereby giving the home team fans the seats adjacent to the tunnel leading to both teams' locker rooms. However, Texas declined to exercise its option to move to the south end in 2007, 2009 and in 2011.

I think the coordinator view will be the most used. It's not centered in the pic, you can not see the whole score bar, so it probably is at an angle,im sure dead on you will be able to see the wide outs and then have it zoom in on the ball carrier, pretty excited about the views, should help with running the option, hopefully we will be about the see the CB during the pitch. I feel like the 22 angle might be a little far away, at least for my taste.

Since that part of Ohio Stadium is usually filled with students and in the screen we see a lot of red. So does this mean a possibility of student sections?

Is it me, or does the 360 version look just a little more polished in these games? It may just be me, but my PS3 copy looks a little jaggy compared to when I had 13 on the 360. Especially in replay mode, when I try to get screen shots and save replays. The UI also seems to be way more laggy than it did on the 360. It takes me about 10 minutes just to recruit in my Dynasty and I only keep 10 on my board. I hope the 2d menus actually make it smoother.

I personally believe Madden is a lot smoother on the PS3 than NCAA. For whatever reason NCAA has never been super smooth on the PS3.

No idea. For now, I'm sticking with regular because it's what I know, what I'm used to and it's worked just fine for me over the year. As for trying out the new ones, Wide will probably be my #1 choice for new camera. The others, to me, don't look that great for when it comes to gameplay and making split second decisions during a play, especially stuff between the tackles.

This. I will most likely stick with the regular camera as that is what I am used to. However, if we are able to play with different camera angles in the demo, I will try them out there. If not, I'll most likely only try the wide.

The other two will be great if we are able to view/save replays using them, which I am anticipating that we will be able to do.

It's tough to tell really w/o getting a "feel" especially for coordinator cam which is supposedly "dynamic". It would be helpful if they showed some actual gameplay from each of the new angles. However, my guess now is that Wide will be the option I use.

For comparison sake here is roughly the same location in NCAA 13.

http://i.imgur.com/YXHXweS.jpgSomething still seems ridiculously off about the scale. The stadium just seems much smaller than it should be. I can't figure why, from that angle, and that position on the field, you'd be able to see the entirety of the South Stands. I think it's just probably an artistic decision by the NCAA team, but that's one thing about the game that has always struck me. If they reduced the amount of the stadium they showed in a given shot, I would think they'd be able to do more on the field at a time (like chain gang and other things that require processing power).

Since that part of Ohio Stadium is usually filled with students and in the screen we see a lot of red. So does this mean a possibility of student sections?I'd say no. There's no difference in the actual student section in that picture versus the rest of the stands. Nor can I spot the section in the South Stands that is normally occupied by the opponent.

This shows the disparity in Stadium size that's SEVERELY short in game. Probably could add 25% to the size of the stadiums as compared to real life. If they did this it would really add to the immersion factor imo.Exactly. The "wide" shot is particularly short. Again, I imagine it's just an example of "artistic license".

xMrHitStickx904
05-13-2013, 02:18 PM
In regards to the chain gang, Madden 13 has it. I've played a lot of Madden this year. I had to google just now to see if it was in the game, that's how much I didn't care for it during the game, or even notice that it was there. Surely NCAA 14 can have the chain gang added, but as far as having interactive sidelines while keeping the game graphically pleasing, wait until the next gen drops.

Exactly. The "wide" shot is particularly short. Again, I imagine it's just an example of "artistic license".Well I don't like it lol. Immersion factor and all
