I have a Linksys EA4500 router that has barely be used. I think I had it for 3 months before moving and switching to AT&T Uverse which provides/requires its own router. It was pretty good. Does anyone know how I could use it instead of the AT&T router? I would prefer to use it but AT&T Uverse tech told me I had to use their routers for my wireless t.v. setup to work.

I think it may be like Verizon and you have to use both. Pretty sure that is what someone I know did unless I am going crazy.

Yeah that's what I read and I doubt it would improve any performance issues I have. My only gripe is occasionally my wireless t.v.s (especially the one furthest away from the router) gets a bad/low signal. But with the way my wife wants the furniture setup wireless was the only way to go for our 2 main t.v.s

You could put the other router close to that TV to boost the signal in that area.

Oh what I read is that the two routers had to be wired together to create a bridge or something.

I think I read an article about using it in another room to boost the signal. Let me see if I can find it.

Here is a uverse forum I was reading about hooking the new router up as an access point.

I picked up a netgear gigabit dual band router a few months back and the thing has been spectacular. Based on my research Netgear and Cisco products are a great bang for the buck.

Same here. Got a Netgear N600 Dual Band Gigabit last month when the old ass router took a shit. It has been nothing but great this entire time. Fast as hell (much faster than the old router, actually getting damn good wireless speeds for a change), it stays on and stays working, unlike the old one that would take a dump every so often. And if a band does have an issue and I can't get a connection for whatever reason, I just switch to the other band. The 2.4 GHz, for a little bit one night, acted up a little bit one night, so opened up my network stuff and switched my laptop over to the 5 GHz band, and was right back online. I mostly use 2.4 GHz for my laptop, 5 GHz for my 360.

Talked to our IT guy at work and he really liked this one so I went ahead and went this route.
