Florida State defeats Notre Dame to win the Sugar Bowl, 23-16. The game turned on a mid-3rd quarter pick six by Seminole LB Terrence Scruggs. The two squads could only manage to trade field goals after that interception. Notre Dame did have a chance with under two minutes to go, but a 4th down pass from the three yard line was fired incomplete.
