I doubt NCAA or Madden would even be in my top 20. Thoroughly disappointing yet again. I was pretty disappointed overall with NBA as well, so terrible year of sports gaming for me. Call of Duty sucked, too, but that isn't surprising. I also loved Dishonored, Darksiders 2, Deadlight, and Mark of the Ninja. Haven't gotten around to playing Journey yet, but I'm guessing I'll enjoy it when I finally do.

I have been hearing constantly about XCOM, so that is something I'm planning on picking up sometime here down the road. I got episode 1 of Walking Dead on 360, but haven't played it yet (still have to purchase the remaining episodes)

It was pretty much between AC3, Halo and FIFA. NCAA Football obviously couldn't be listed as #1, so between those three ahead of 13, I just pretty much threw them up in not really any exact order. I'm not sure which one I would say is the true #1.

I'm sure you're right. The thing is, I pretty much only play sports titles and for the last 16 months that's been pretty much reduced to FIFA only. I didn't finish even one season of NCAA this year and I passed on Madden, NHL and The Show. FIFA has the right mix of everything for me.

I'm basically the same, just with FIFA and NCAA. I bought NHL, but have I only touched it sparingly. I skipped Madden and Tiger Woods, only major, non-sport, purchases were Halo and AC3 for me. This was a semi-quiet year for me, just sports title and only a couple major titles. All the other major releases, I skipped.

Generally speaking, any game reviewer worth a damn agrees that AC3 is atrocious. The story is complete nonsense. The side missions are complete garbage. The "open world" is terrible. And it takes 4 fuckin' hours to actually get to the GAME. It's, by far, the worst Assassin's Creed game in the series (with a COMPLETELY from left field story ending).

Don't hate because you can't handle the truth.

I have to agree about Assassin's Creed. I've only played the first 3 or 4 hours so far, but it's because I feel like I'm playing through a tutorial where they're purposely holding me back instead of letting me go play the game how I wish. It's kind of baffling, because none of the other games in the series were like this, even the first one which would've been the logical place to put a restraint on what players could do. It's an open world game minus the open world.

I'll get around to beating it eventually, probably when the George Washington DLC comes out.

This year I'll buy God of War and BioShock since I love both of their series. Oh and GTA.

I typically don't go over 4 video game purchases a year. Especially since son was born. Don't have the time as majority of my time I do have is invested in Madden every year. The off time from that is with Tiger and the Call of Duty release.

So while searching to see if there was a dedicated thread for XCOM, I stumbled back upon this thread. After making some new purchases since my original list, I'm going to redo my top 5.

1. The Walking Dead (nothing else comes close #1 for me)

2. Halo 4 (the closest any other game could even hope to get to sniffing the #1 spot)

3. NCAA Football 13 (13 has become the longest/most seasons of dynasty that I have ever played, dating back to at least '04. Has some issues in it but I still had a blast and am slightly sad to see its days (and my days at Tulsa) dwindling down as we near the release of '14)

4. FIFA 13 (have had a lot of fun and spent a lot of hours in career mode with FIFA, especially now that I'm out of the MLS and am balls deep in European soccer)

5. Black Ops 2 (picked this up for very cheap via the Microsoft Store with my $10 off code from the Xbox One reveal, the campaign is alright, only actually four missions or so into it, zombies is alright, multiplayer, meh in the few matches I've played. 99% of my time in BO2 is spent in Custom Games, where I have been having a blast with some of the different game modes and game mode variants that I have created, along with weapon loadouts. Custom games will definitely keep me happy when I get the itch for some mindless FPS gunfights)
