PS3 and switching between wireless and wired internet.

Is there something I am missing or is Sony behind the times by about 10 years with not being to recognize when the PS3 is turned on whether it is plugged in to a wire internet connection or not? Or at least save your wireless login information so that when I am not playing an online game, I can have it unplugged and not have to go in and enter my password for my wireless every time?

I don't believe the PS3 will automatically recognize when you change between the two. However, it should keep your WPA (or similar) password -- mine does. I didn't use wireless for over a year, but the next time I used it, it still had my SSID and password set.
