This week sucks. Navy-East Carolina is on Fox College Sports, which I don't get as I don't have the Sports Pass package with Time Warner, Tulsa has an off week, and Western Kentucky-Florida International is on ESPN3. So, with none of the three teams of interest on TV this week (well, TV that I get), it looks like the Oyster Bowl is going to be my main game of interest.

Tuesday, October 23rd

Arkansas State at Louisiana Lafayette
8:00 p.m.
ESPN2 (HD)

Thursday, October 25th

Clemson at Wake Forest
7:30 p.m.
ESPN (HD)

Saturday, October 27th

Ball State at Army
12:00 p.m.
CBSSN (HD)

Oyster Bowl: Delaware at Old Dominion
12:00 p.m.
NBCSN (HD)

Boise State at Wyoming
3:30 p.m.
CBSSN (HD)

TCU at Oklahoma State
3:30 p.m.
FSN Affiliates (HD)

Texas Tech at Kansas State
3:30 p.m.
FOX (HD)

Ohio State at Penn State
5:30 p.m.
ESPN (HD)

Notre Dame at Oklahoma
8:00 p.m.

Ohio State - Penn State at 5:30 PM. So. Strange. With seemingly nothing on ESPN from 3:30 - 5:30. I know Penn State wants a "night" game, but that just seems like a strange time decision.

Yeah, I'm shaking my head at the time choice.

Looking at next Saturday on the DVR, they have a half hour of College Football Scoreboard at 3, then two hours of ESPN Goal Line at 3:30.

Awesome. Actually gonna get a chance to watch Arkansas State this week.

On a side note, thank god WVU isn't playing this week. I don't think I can take another complete fuckin' failure.

Yeah, I'm shaking my head at the time choice.Only thing I can think of is that Penn State put their foot down and insisted it be a "night" game, but ESPN didn't have any night slots they wanted to give it. Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't want to put it head-to-head against Notre Dame - Oklahoma.

Texas Tech - KSU should be a fun game. Tech played the spoiler in Norman last year.

It was originally scheduled for 6:00, it just got moved to 5:30 like last week. Not sure why though

Not sure why thoughProbably to get it late enough to make it a "night" game, but early enough that they can still have Alabama vs Mississippi State at a decent hour (there is no way Ohio State-Penn State will be over at 830, I'm sorry ESPN).

Connor Shaw keeps on a Read Option. Runs for two yards or so, then slides. ESPN announcers comment on how Shaw has learned, how he was throwing his body around with abandon early in the year, but is now protecting it by sliding and running out of bounds. Getting what he can get.

Meanwhile, the South Carolina band is playing one of themes from Gladiator in the background.

These two things do not go together.

You know how when you get hurt, after a while, you become numb to it and it no longer hurts?

As of right now, :Southern_Miss: is down 38-17 to :Rice: and yet, not only does this no longer bother me, I actually find it comical.

I've been there... probably close to 10 years ago, Arkansas State was 0-fer going into the last game of the season. We won and I was disappointed.

We have all been there. Sooners of the early 90's were pretty awful.

Oregon throwing up half-a-hundred on Colorado in the first half. Texas Tech playing tough at KSU so far.

Back like ten years ago, my ex stole DirecTV for a couple years. We would get all the porn too. There were a series of movies called Specs Appeal. It was just chicks with glasses taking facials, lol. Quality.

Navy came out and bitch slapped the shit out of East Carolina today. That a way Middies. Two games in a row of bitchslapping the Pirates. Whooped their ass 76-35 back in 2010, and whooped their ass 56-28 today, both times on East Carolina's home field. Navy needs to schedule more games more often at ECU.

And Notre Dame benefits from a bullshit call once again. Gotta LOVE those Big East officials. I don't care if WVU loses every game in the Big 12 for the next 10 years, I thank fuckin' GOD every time we take the field that we don't have to deal with those absolutely ATROCIOUS officials from the Big East.

Wow. Talk about a letdown game for Oklahoma. Damn.

(sigh) Now Notre Lame gets a cake walk into the MNC game having to only beat a trio of shitty ACC scrubs (Pittsburgh, Boston College, and Wake Forest) before facing off against a pathetic USC team that can't even beat two pathetic PAC-12 scrubs.

USC beat themselves more with 5 offensive turnovers and 14 penalties. even with all of that, we were in a position to win at the end of the game and only lost by 3.

i'm gonna lose it this offseason if monte kiffin isnt replaced as DC. his soft, conservative, pussy style defense is the reason why we continue to let opponents stay in games.

LOL it doesnt matter what logic you want to use about who beat who, USC just lost and that the important part. Cant blame Monte either, he's smarter then his son and was a damn good pro coach. He just expects players to do what they are assigned to do. I wonder if the QB still gets drafted that high ? Many believe Manti Te'o could be a number 1 over all pick now ?

JeffHCross
10-29-2012, 03:12 PM
Who? I haven't seen any speculation that Te'o could be a #1 pick (unless you mean Round 1), and I'd have to question to the logic of anyone who says that. Teams that have the #1 pick have too many holes to pick an LB (even if he is a great talent at LB).

He's definitely Round 1 though.

te'o is a first round pick, but he wont even be the first linebacker taken in the draft. barring injury, georgia LB jarvis jones will be.

and ram, yes i can blame monte. USC's offense has never failed to score points under lane's playcalling, however, monte's defense is always giving up a huge amount of yards. his tampa 2 scheme is so hellbent on not giving up the quick strike big play, that he has the corners play 10 yards off the line of scrimmage. what's the point of playing that far off, when opposing offenses can nickel and dime their way downfield for 5-7 yards a pop? the wr's get a free release into their routes and there's little you can do about it. off coverage is a terrible strategy and i'm surprised that monte hasnt done something about it yet.

Yeah, you can always get good LBs throughout the first, second, and even part of the third rounds. Anyone who would piss away a #1 overall pick on a LB is a moron. If you have the #1 overall pick, your team sucks ass and has more holes than Swiss cheese. I'm drafting either a QB or a WR, a skill position player that will immediately give the team a boost. I don't believe in drafting a RB #1 overall because RBs have a shelf life of only a couple years. By the time you would build up a team worth a damn through the draft and free agency, your RB is probably already nearing the end of his prime, if he isn't getting chronically injured thanks to your shitty O-line.

+1

unless the LB is a cant miss type of guy like ray lewis, i dont see the need to take a LB in the first 10 picks of the first round.

i look at the draft as your 1st rounder is getting a guy who's gonna start at his position from day one. 2nd and 3rd rounders are getting players who are gonna see playing time as quality backups or be on the field in situation downs. 4th and 5th rounders are purely depth, with 6th and 7th round guys being projects with a shot at being a special teamer.

JeffHCross

unless the LB is a cant miss type of guy like ray lewis, i dont see the need to take a LB in the first 10 picks of the first round. Ray was the fifth linebacker taken in the draft, at #26. Even if you could guarantee an LB is "can't miss" (which you can't), I still can't see taking him in the top 10. Not today. Linebackers are not at a premium (pass first league now), unless they're 3-4 pressure guys. The only way I can see taking an LB that high is if you've got a high pick because of bad luck (e.g. what has happened to the Saints this year, though they don't fit the rest of my statement) or good trades (Patriots), and practically your only hole is at LB.

Since 2000, there have been ten LBs (by combine position, I believe) taken in the top 10 of Round 1. Plus Vernon Gholston. Only 1, in hindsight, was as great as his position deserved -- Brian Urlacher. Okay, maybe two, because Jerod Mayo has been great for the Patriots (though I would argue that they were in that "high position with no holes" option). The rest have either been okay (by the standards of the NFL), straight out busts (whether because of skill or bad luck), or the jury is still out (Von Miller, Luke Kuechly). Rolando McClain certainly looks like he could be on the border between good and great, I just simply don't know enough about the Raiders to really give a good assessment of him.

too bad, I like my idea better :D

red vs blue is fine but any other dark colors would be annoying, like blue vs purple or something like that.

I'm pretty sure there was an election year where someone did something like that..?
