Just finished last night's .... first off:

ABRAHAM!!!!!!

And then:

First it was an odd dynamic of Daryl and Beth together, then HOLY SHIT, Tyrese and the girls have Judith. Should have saw that coming, but when the girls wasted that one lezzie, they didn't have her with, so we didn't know. I'm guessing Rick, Carl, and Judith get reunited in the season finale. Then Carol finds them. Obviously neither party knows about killing Karen, only Rick and Daryl. Carol knew Tyrese didn't know when he hugged her.

I loved the scene with Sasha, Bob, and Maggie with the bus, letting them out one by one til they were overrun. That was a good scene. I can't believe Glen in his state jumped out of that bus before it left and survived. In the preview to this week, I thought Glen was on top of the bus tipped over, not still at the f'n prison. Then him and the surviving lezzie get it out the prison, and finally Abraham joins the show!

Plus let's not forget how psycho that little girl is. She killed that family of rabbits and then seemed to really enjoy trying to suffocate Judith. That is one messed up kid. I wonder how they are going to continue to use her in the story?

Yeah I forgot to mention Lizzie. She's a psycho badass. That was hilarious that they were giving the people asking questions stuffed rabbits on Talking Dead. And speaking of Talking Dead. Tara aka Alanna Masterson. HOT!

Last night episode.....

Was ok but also meh. I'm not really liking the fact that they are focusing on just one or two groups each episode. It's going to be 3 episodes until we see Carol and Tyrese's group again since the previews make it look like we are going to see Maggie and more of Daryl next week.

Agree with the character development, but do it at the beginning of a season. Not with only 4 episodes left in the season.

Another good episode. Just went things start to gel with Daryl and Beth, she gets kidnapped. Damn! Seeing that hearse driving away reminds me of the old Phantasm movies. Kinda interesting that Daryl joins up with the group that Rick got away from. The leader of that group is the mayor on Sons of Anarchy.

Seems like everyone is on their way to Terminus except Daryl and Beth. Wonder who it was that abducted her.

I enjoyed lastnight's episode as well

I'm thinking whoever had been in the house prior maybe. If someone had been staying there weird that they didn't fortify it more or make it harder than just to walk in. Also odd that Daryl slipped up by just opening the door to a group of walkers and not being more cautious about it.

It's crazy to know that all of them are probably only separated by a few miles yet feels like 100's of miles.

I didn't think he'd kill himself or Carol. If she had confessed in the field, there probably would have been a confrontation but after the Mika/Lizzie thing played out, I think Tyrese understood that Carol makes the hard choices for the greater good. That only Carol admiring that it was quick and relatively painless.

Disturbing more than memorable as they weren't on the show for that long.

I think the most memorable ones are Dale, Shane, and Herschel. Dale being the most shocking of the three as you didn't see it coming as much. Andrea's was pretty memorable too with her struggle and nearly getting free, and still being alive when Daryl, Rick, and Michonne find her. Merle's death was pretty memorable too as Daryl had to "put him down".

I honestly don't even remember Dale's. He got caught by the walker Carl let free, right? I remember Shane being a walker and getting shot but I don't remember how he died.

Hershel and Lori have the most memorable for me but this ranks up there because no one is ever going to forget that Carol killed the girl who killed her sister be she was batshit crazy.

Yes, just out of the blue that walker popped up and bit Dale.

Rick shot Shane, then Shane came back as a walker and Carl shot him then. At the time, they didn't know they reanimated after death regardless. They thought it was just from bites.

Apparently in the comics they do run into a bunch of cannibals and some people were wondering if it was the group Daryl was with but apparently it's Terminus after seeing this.

It's still weird that it's not guarded though as zombies could still wonder in

JBHuskers
03-24-2014, 12:59 PM
My first guess that I told CDJ last night is that it is a bunch of cannibals at Terminus. Similar to the family in the episode 1 of the video game. Something definitely isn't right about this place. From no guards to nobody even around except for that lady.

The preview from next week is interesting too. Rick looks like he's losing it. I don't think it is the group Daryl is with because he would recognize Michonne, Rick, and Carl right away. I wonder if a herd of walkers separates the three.

I could see Joe (the leader of the group) actually listening to Daryl if and when they run into Rick. Probably the only one to survive the season as well.

I think the leader of Daryl's group is actually a "good guy." I suspect that they will lead an assault on Terminus is order to set the others free. There is no doubt that there is something very "evil" about terminus. There seems to also be an element of psychological terror to the trailer as you hear the voices in the background... it's eerie how they sound.

Well, if they followed the comic which has for some stuff and not so much for other stuff, Glen bites it badly. Might have quite the TV fan backlash on that though so not sure how it will be handled.

Glen's demise was pretty gruesome in the comics. There's just something so ominous about that scene with the burning photo. Kirkman said in a recent interview that the finale would be talked about and would leave you anxiously awaiting the next season more so than any previous finale. This is the walking dead though. Expect an unexpected death or two. Also I thought this was a very telling answer from Kirkman:

"Q: How does popularity, if at all, effect the survival rate of characters? Have you ever killed a character just because they were popular and you wanted to shake things up?

A: In my opinion, I feel like characters ripen like fruit. So while I wouldn't say the more popular a character is the more likely they are to die, they do have to reach a certain level of popularity before they've "earned" the death. No character is too popular to die. (Suck it, Reedus!)."

I mean the guy actually considered having Shane kill Rick at one point. So I would say no character is safe. Can't wait for the finale!

Only way I can see it being Glen, and being somewhat similar to the comic, is if Daryl's new little group of rough guys he's traveling with get a hold of Rick and Glen gets whacked in a firefight or grabbed and made a spectacle of in order to get Rick. There isn't any other bad guy yet that would fit in with the comic progression of what happened to Glen. *If* they do that this season instead of build up that storyline of the new neighborhood and new bad guy next season, it would be a similar thing to the comic but told differently......like Lizzy basically being Ben from the comic.

Replace Herschel in the TV with Tyreese in the comic.
After being loaded onto a truck by The Governor and his men, Tyreese is beaten and brought back to the prison. The Governor reveals a bloody and beaten Tyreese to the prison group, asking them to give up the prison for his safety. Tyreese desperately tells the group not to surrender, and The Governor hits him over the head to shut him up. After Rick and group decide not to give into The Governor's demands, he uses Michonne's sword, and slowly cuts off Tyreese's head until it is fully decapitated. He then boots Tyreese's head closer to the prison's fence in anger and leaves when Billy Greene opens fire on him, leaving the group to grieve over Tyreese's brutal execution.
Could be Tyrese since Sasha is trying to find him.

Finally watched last week's episode lastnight

Pretty interesting stuff

First off, Terminus is weird. The lady was way too calm and of course the whole no perimeter security or security at all.

Unless they raided a food compound or something welcoming any and every one to the place not worried about supply shortages is odd as well.

Not familiar with the comics just going off the show.

Their either eating the walkers or eating people.

I think Terminus might be the hilltop colony from the comics. Not sure. It trades with two other communities and is under protection. Could explain why no weapons or guards. I think the finale might have something to do with the Carl incident from the comics that makes Rick go over the top in retaliation. Looks like Rick will be a major plot point in the finale if the preview, interviews, and poster for this season are a clue. Again just speculation. They keep changing things up so who knows.

Maybe if the show's time slot was later, they may have done it and it would've passed the FCC. I've seen Comedy Central play unedited versions of stand ups REALLY late at night/early morning. You know once that word is uttered in a prime time slot, all gloves will be off in terms of language as it's essentially "the last frontier."

Re: Beth

She had a one-off cameo this past week on The Following. Without giving a spoiler on that show, I do not think she will be returning there for a while. I wonder if that means she is off TWD indefinitely or if she did it for another reason (perhaps fit into schedule, in area filming something else, etc.). She might be like Carol, where she is gone for a while and pops back in when you least expect to save the day for someone.

I haven't read the comics, so I'm not in tune with what may be coming.

The gang doesn't have a lot of allies left on the outside (Tyrese, Carol, & Judith), so I'm guessing some of the boxcar gang will be served for dinner before the rest can figure a way out. This is one place where Lizzie might come in handy, but Carol ruined that. :(

So Daryl's gang-buddies were nothing more than filler for a few episodes?

You can't blame the Terminus people for being the way they are. In a zombie apocalypse, former sweatshop workers aren't going to be the most forgiving & accepting.

This season seemed to have more foreshadowing than the previous seasons combined. It makes rewatching or discussing previous episodes more enjoyable looking for missed clues.

That and the fact that meat seemed in abundance like they had an endless supply of cows and chickens running around. In a zombie apocalypse not many are going to be that friendly with food and shelter.

That chase scene when the group runs by that stack of bloody torso's was pretty telling. Also watching the gun fire "round the group up" and force them in cattle cars was great symbolism and foreshadowing.

I really thought an ending like they find out they are eating Beth was a guarantee. I wonder where that story goes? I was also shocked at how Daryl's group is wiped out. They had a lot of potential IMO. That would have been an interesting storyline.

However, I must say that I am surprised with how quick it all ended. After so much of last season was spent getting to Terminus everything ends this episode. No matter though as I much prefer the show when they are wondering from place-to-place.

Agree with you, jaymo.

I was surprised with how quickly they were freed from Terminus after so much of last season leading up to being captured.

However, between flashbacks and the inevitable clash later in the season with Terminus survivors, maybe it will prove to be the best decision and make the most sense.

With Low Winter Sun getting the axe, it appears Morgan may be back for a while.

I already explained, Its to see how the whole thing ends. You're right, I watch the show because its funny. I think the whole concept is dumb. You can actually watch something to amuse yourself, you don't have to actually like it. I hate horror stuff in general but I like making fun of the cartoonish silliness that is this show. Its not like I watch all the way through anyway, I would flip between that and sports throughout.
I just made fun of the fact that all the most improbable lucky things happened to keep all these characters alive and yet its supposed to be really scary and dramatic LOL.

The comic pretty much did it exactly the same way except there was no Terminus (they replaced the short story arc called the hunters). That plus it was Dale (there's no Bob in the comics) who had already lost one leg ala Herschel. And finally Rick and company went to the hunters camp instead of waiting on them. In fact, Kirkman wrote last week's episode and used almost the same lines verbatim from comics.

Gabriel's story is essentially the same as well.

Yeah, same as JB, that was why I asked how it compared to the comics, because I figured things would drag out at least one or two episodes longer. I didn't expect the entire Terminus arc to be wrapped up that quickly and everything to be over and done with regarding Gareth, especially after everything at the end of last episode and beginning of this week's with the whole Bob's Burgers thing. It just seemed so sudden that it was over and done with and wrapped up already.

If my memory serves, the cannibal thing at the church area that didn't last long either.....it was more of a bridge to the next big setting/environment in the comics.

Boring episode but definitely a setup episode. I think Carol is faking and is using it as a way to get Beth out of the hospital. I think shit is going to go down at the hospital. I think Daryl and Carol grabbed that dude Beth was escaping with and they are going to bust her out. It would also make sense with Daryl in the woods at the end of last episode saying come on out.

Yes, they played it that way in the show: 1. To not go straight through the herd (the comic calls them herds because the zombies show a tendency to group up and follow each other.....just follow the crowd behavior) because of the danger. 2. Because it would likely get someone killed trying to protect Eugene and that was played up as weighing on his conscious, like when he listed all the people that had died during his journey, and him lamenting the fact that he's basically worthless compared to all those people.

Agreed. She was starting to realize just how cruel the world had become and that you can't be that innocent little farm girl anymore. She was finally starting to harden up (just look at how cold her eyes were when she stabbed Dawn) and could have become a dependable member of the group. Definitely a major loss there, much bigger than had some other characters been taken out.

I thought last night was a good episode but came away disappointed with how they used and developed Tyrese's character throughout his time on the show. Sadly they will probably do the same to even more characters in the future as the cast is getting pretty bloated and will only get worse when they meet their next threat, group of people, etc.

I don't think it's just you. There has definitely been a switch in the writing and directing. Almost to me it's gone down hill after they left the prison. The Tornado scene was probably the most ridiculous moment on the show hands down.

Definitely interesting questions for the new guy. He sure is pretty clean cut compared to the gang.

I wasn't as critical on the show as you guys were, but oh well. I thought it did a good job to show the group is really struggling mentally and physically. Maybe the tornado or storm scene was over the top, but it was a pretty cool scene seeing the whole group band together to show they want to live and hold off the herd.

Following Maggie's statement(s) on losing her faith, I wonder if the tornado scene was designed to either a) show a miracle that helped save them or b) show that working together they can survive almost anything.

Either way, visually it was a cool scene but they didn't do a good job of tying it to either point. Living in an area that has strong tornadoes, I laughed at how many trees uprooted but that old barn stood strong. :fp: Not a big deal overall I suppose, but it only feeds into my sneaking suspicion that the show lacks any idea of a potential end-game or even coherent story development. I enjoy watching TWD, but it's changed a lot (especially lately) and overall I'd say a lot isn't for the better. Though, I'm holding out hope for the rest of this season to help correct the ship.

I assumed at first that the water was possibly a gift from Morgan, but maybe this guy is from Morgan's group - either with him at one time or the one he was pursuing (looking for markings on the trees). If he is from the comics, I hope they use some of the plot from the comics, not what they did with Tyreese.

Is Morgan knowingly tailing them? I was always under the assumption he was and that is where the one dude is from. Only Carl and Rick know Morgan, so he probably figured him going would do just as good as the other guy that showed up and is more personable. But being more personable i.e. Gareth means you're probably up to something at this point in time in the world.

Wasn't a big fan of the first episode and really disappointed in how they killed off Tyrese as I thought he was the character with the most potential. Personally I would have rather seen the demise of Glenn as I just don't like how his character has developed over the course of the series. I do however like when the show is "on the road" as it keeps things interesting. I was NOT a fan of the prison so it's good to see them on their journey again.

Also weird how a few days in and like Rick said they are giving power to someone they don't really know. Either people don't know about the place or they are hiding a group of people that protect the place. Otherwise difficult to believe that place not being over ran yet.

At first, I was like, WTF when she was talking about how she was a den mother who washed clothes and loved her ex-husband, Ed, but that it clicked that she was underselling herself intentionally. Everyone is gonna watch Rick, Daryl, Michonne, Abraham, and probably Carl and Glen but when Carol starts making people eat her bullets, they'll be none the wiser.

I trust the Senator leader of the group. I don't trust the son or that woman's husband who seems to be jealous, could be the same type of guy as Carol's husband. I think this town does have dark secrets like any other town, and the group will see these come out eventually.

It's funny how Daryl doesn't want to adapt because in the world that has no problems, he was the outcast, not the hero. That's why it's hard for him to adjust, but his line saying Carol looks ridiculous was great.

Very interesting how Rick said they'll just take out the town if they start to weaken and soften the group. I'm assuming most of the town is full of nice people, so this is probably the most extreme example of Rick being the bad guy so far in this series.

I would guess that the more they show them as a peaceful community on the outside, the less they really are. The stylist babe's husband and the boss lady's son are trouble, guaranteed.

The videotaping thing probably isn't for job evaluation. It could be for psychoanalysis or it could be something such as determining who gets sold off to someone/somewhere else maybe for slavery, sex trade, etc.

Minor issue, but for consistency's sake I think they should have objected or questioned the videotaping more. They don't trust these people, but sure - taping me and sitting down for a therapy session is fine. :dunno:

"The Walking Dead" spinoff, whose title is yet to be determined, is set in Los Angeles and features characters played by Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.

Season 1 of the spinoff will (like the mothership was originally) be made up of six one-hour episodes. It will premiere later this summer on AMC.

Things are definitely going to ramp up. Gabriel and the drunk doctor are going to get theirs.

Great job by Eugene and Abraham on tonight's episode.

What's up with that bullshit Father Gabriel pulled. Hope Maggie tells Rick about that Judas. He wants to say the group is evil but that bitch locked his congregation out in their time of need. So many bitches deserve bullets tonight.

I'll have to take some time to put my thoughts into words, and probably watch the episode again. There was just so much stuff that went down tonight, too much to process into commentary and thoughts at the moment.
