A gutsy call by Utah State HC Jeremy Bennett to go for it on 4th and 1 on the 11 with :20 to go pays off as a run up the gut by RB Robert Marshall didn't just get the first down, it got the touchdown in a win over Akron 21-17. Akron was done in by two things in this game. The first was the election to pass instead of running out the clock which lead to an interception. The second was a clear pass interference call impeding TE D.J. Tialavea to put Utah State into FG range.

I believe that makes three wins in a row after HC Tommy G made this infamous statement:


So kwizzy was asking me about the level of competition of guys in the OD so I decided to type up some notes. I hope no one takes any offense but I decided to share. Would be interesting to see what everyone else has to say about the rest of the OD. Be honest... we need some good rivalries started up :)

JB - I imagine you've played him... I beat him probably 95% of the time but every now & then he sneaks up on me.

Middle Tennessee State goes into #12 South Carolina a big dog, but comes away with a 27-16 win and a 2-0 record to start the year.

Solid effort defensively as well as a good job keeping things simple on offense and moving the chains.

Just fyi, I'm going to be looking at slider changes. Probably nothing too drastic but want to limit aq wins where ever possible. Next season would likely be more drastic, especially since our teams will continue to improve.
