After giving up 21 first half points the Green Wave defense hunkered down and helped Tulane to a 55-28. Led by Freshman John Lucas the Green Wave offense put 468 yrds total offense with Lucas going 26-36 for 395 3td and 1int. SR William VanHooser started where he left off last year with 8 receptions for 169 yrds and all 3 tds from Lucas. "The two have a bond that started as soon as Lucas got on campus, VanHooser is a leader and is poised to have a big year." Said Coach Tex
Next week Tulane travels to Athens, where the Bulldogs look to revenge the loss that put them out of the MNC hunt last year.

Zips Zip Flashes
Akron's defense is the real deal. Facing rival Kent State, the Zips' defense blanked their opponent, defeating them 45-0. Defensively, the preseason press that the Akron freshman CBs received appeared warranted as both managed to take-away an interception including one returned 53 yards for a touchdown. Another freshman, Kendrick Parks led the team in tackles with 6. Statistically, KSU was held to only 132 total yards with only 10 rushing yards.
Offensively, HB Jawon Chisholm had a great day with 12 carries for 116 yards and WR Keith Sconiers managed 4 catches for 115 yards with 2 touchdowns.
Akron was able to pull practically all of their starters at the beginning of the 4th quarter letting some younger guys get playing time.

Coach Jeremy Bennett was slighted at the one-year deal that Memphis offered him after a 10-win season, so he moved on, and as coincidence would have it, :Utah_State: took on :Memphis: and Bennett's team destroyed Memphis 42-17. Statement made.

:) That would be E
Having said that WOW do I need to tighten things up. I was down to Army the whole first half but played much better in the second half with some great running and some quick throws. I think I had 9 different receivers with a catch after it was all said and done but only 1 guy had 2 the rest just had 1 :D
I escaped though and now it's back to the grind of figuring out just what I need to improve on going forward with this team.
