13: Season 1 Offseason

I'm advancing us to the offseason tonight. Coaching carousel will be up first, however whomever is on the clock first, don't go accepting any jobs yet. I'm going to review where our teams are in comparison to others.

Most likely (not definitively yet) the restrictions will be:
74OVR or lower & 2-star prestige or lower
I'll post here to confirm after I've reviewed.

As well, since there were no objections, offseason will be tomorrow (Thursday) night at 8pm CT. However, in the mean time, try to keep up with the Carousel so we can do as much of it before tomorrow night as possible. A reminder, you can access the Carousel (and all offseason tasks) on the Dynasty Wire website.

For those that are new this season, the restrictions are in place to keep us all on a semi-level playing field but to also prevent unrealistic leaps. By the end of NCAA12, the highest jobs you could accept were 85OVR and 3-star... that said, you're always welcome to build your program above that on your own.

Had to decline offers to Pitt and Virginia. I'm not sure there is much more I can do with Memphis, so I'm not 100% sure what I will be doing yet. I got Memphis ranked at the end of the season, my top QB, RB, WR, and TE are coming back, but losing in almost all other areas. Memphis is offering me a 1-year contract, part of me thinks that is a slap in the face after a 10-win season.

Typically that's because you only had a 1 year contract and you're up for renewal (unless you got fired) so if nothing in the carousel catches your eye, you can accept a renewal from the console or whenever tulane comes up in the carousel.

One year isn't a slap in the face. In fact, it's actually a benefit because you get all of the benefits of a completed contract after 1 year. I personally wish they would get rid of 1 year contracts, especially back-to-back years.

They don't show the prestige on the web but for OVR, they have to be a C or worse... you can check on the Rosters tab. If you run into one that is a possibility, let me know and I can check on the console.

Mike Leach did the same thing in the 360 OD, left Washington State after one year to go to Pitt.

Reminder, offseason is just under an hour away. It would be best that everyone be there, especially if you don't currently have a contract. Otherwise, it might be that we have to boot and then later re-invite you in order for us to keep moving since if you don't have a contract, I can only force you to take a job that's offered.

At the very least, you can hop on your console and sign an extension with your current school (if one is offered) or possibly apply for a particular job to see if you get it.

Yeah... some of that sort of thing baffles me. Obviously the logic is off there. The home sickness is usually pretty close... for example, UNM has a player from Monroe LA wanting to transfer to LTU... that's about 30 minutes up the road so it's not unrealistic.

The OD crashed during Week 1 offseason recruiting. Thankfully I had just saved so we didn't lose any progress. Everyone should have an invite but let me know if not.

We've stopped at position changes. It was getting late and not everyone was on. Deadline for position changes is tomorrow night at midnight CT, though would be nice to advance sooner.


As mentioned, we had to reload the OD so if you plan to do position changes from the web (i advise against it since anyone not fully scouted will still have hidden ratings), you'll have to accept the invite from the console first. Be sure to choose "use existing coach" and take over same position you were.

Looking at Akron's roster, prior to training results, 13 of the top 16 players are fresh faces with only one being a juco. Lots of promise for the future. Just have to focus on getting some lineman on both sides of the ball.

Not sure what you're asking... If you mean the deadline for next advance, I posted that just a couple posts up. Deadline is midnight tonight.

From there, for player cuts, etc. we'll just use a 24 deadline. Hopefully we'll be starting week 1 on monday, tuesday at the latest.

While doing cuts, also remember your roster cannot be below 65 players. Issues in the past allowed too easily to get stud transfers.

Sounds good. Keep in mind that ATHs don't appear (but do count to your total) so you'll have to remember where you put your ATHs.

Thanks for the tip. I only had to cut two and had six RB's on the roster so it was a quick decision. I'm ready to advance now.
