This is a fair warning to folks who comment on different websites, even if in jest. People are watching and if you are as stupid as Eric Ting Yee, a 21-year old Yale graduate you could find yourself in a nice chilly prison cell with a guy named Bear breathing down your neck.

Eric Ting Yee wrote on an ESPN Web forum “that he could see children from where he was at and had no problem murdering them,” Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Darren Harris said Tuesday.

The Sheriff’s Department called his writings “terrorist threats” and said several weapons were found during a search of Yee’s home, making the threats appear credible. Harris said they included handguns and “at least one high-capacity-type weapon.”

Yee was arrested at 5 p.m. Monday and was still being held on $1 million bail late Tuesday. He could face charges as early as Wednesday, when sheriff’s detectives expect to present their case to the district attorney.

He was held on suspicion of making criminal threats, which carries a penalty of up to a year in jail, but prosecutors could file additional charges or different charges altogether.

A person can be convicted of making a criminal threat even if he has no intent of carrying it out, so long as the statement is intended to be taken as a threat. The law requires, though, that the threat be “unequivocal, unconditional, immediate, and specific.”

So what did we all learn here today? That is right, when you comment below please don’t talk about how you want to kill anybody, especially children. Glad we could educate, the magic is in the details.

Good. It's about time that these internet "tough guys" get what they deserve. It's the trolling nature of the internet that makes me want to just stop participating in it.

oh please, you're trolltastic half the time as it is :)

who knows how specific this story really is? you cant put people in jail if they making dumb statements unless you can prove it really was going to happen. If this were remotely true-the story- the court battle should be a short day if all he was doing was typing something stupid. Because we are trully a dumbed down society if this were considered a heavily punishable thought crime if he didnt intend to do anything but type what he typed.

How do you prove something is going to happen, that has not happened?

Lets see, Aurora just happened, he referenced Aurora when making the comment, he said that could kill children from where he was and would have no problem doing it, police found multiple weapons in his home, and it was reported that his house overlooked two schools, with lines of sight to both schools. Maybe he was just a dumbfuck making a dumb statement. Unless he's a fucking retard, anyone should know in this day and age that saying stupid shit like that is going to cause you a shit ton of trouble with the cops.

Yep! I'd rather they put this idiot in jail now and not wait until he actually acts on those threats and then we blame every other person for his actions and the parents sue the website that he originally posted on saying they didn't take action and probably would sue TGT because we were talking about it and did do anything about it or report it to anyone.
