NCAA Football 13 Uniform Store Now Open for Business

As part of Patch #2, the Uniform Store was unveiled only was empty. However, starting today on Xbox 360 (9/18 for PS3), users can begin downloading updated uniforms to use in the game. Twenty-Three uniforms are included in the free pack including the Oregon uniform pictured above. Additional uniforms for Notre Dame & Michigan in the Adidas Strategy pack will cost you 80 MSP.

Yeah, that sucks. At least we know when to expect them. I would hope/assume that any future updates would be released together though obviously we'll have to wait and see.

That works for me. It's not the doom and gloom people were accusing EA of with trying to charge an exorbitant amount of money. Two uniforms for one buck (seriously, one buck is not going to make or break you, and if it will, your ass shouldn't be buying or playing video games in the first place) instead of one buck for each or whatever. Hell, I've got something like 265 MSP sitting in my Xbox Live account right now, so I could buy a couple of these small $1 uniform packs and never have to actually spend any money, just using whatever MSP I still have on my account.

Because neither are/will be default uniforms for either team. They're one-time/rarely used uniforms. Plus the idea is to make money here... lets not get it twisted. MUT makes Madden tons of money and they're looking for a small way to tap into that for NCAA.

Considering that they're giving away a lot of uniforms, I don't have a problem with it. If you really want them, buy them. Otherwise, wait until they're free with NCAA14 (most likely).

Which I like how they're doing it, combining the two uniforms into a single pack for $1, instead of trying to sell them individually for $1 each. There's really nothing we can complain about. 23 uniforms for free (defaults or fixed unis) and 2 specialty uniforms for a whole $1.

Gotta love the suspense. 1st attempt to download the patch PS3 tells me the DNS server is not responding, restarted then it downloaded.

Ok, good news/strange news. When I to go the uniform store it shows me the uniforms. It says there are a bunch for free i.e. A&M and the only option is to press X to buy it now. However, when I click on buy it now, it says they are not available. So I figured maybe the update installed them already. When I go to select a uniform for A&M it does not show the new unis.

So I went back to the uniform store and it says the store is unavailable....maybe like many (EA) things it's a work in progress.... :dunno:

Finally downloaded the uniforms this morning and went ahead and purchased the two Michigan & ND uniforms... considering it was 80 cents (guess we get a discount for waiting :) ) and I use Michigan in an OD, it wasn't a hard decision. That said, I noticed in the ND uniforms that their pieces other than pants say "Strategy 1" whereas Michigan's all say "Strategy"... obviously pointing that ND will have additional uniforms for sale in the future. And considering that the pants don't say Strategy 1, that tells me it won't be the navy & gold mock-Maryland style uniform since that has two-tone pants.

At any rate, here's to hoping we get more updates going forward.

I think they make money on the DLC but more importantly they make money like the guys did on Office Space, just not as quickly and as in big chunks like happened on the movie.

Similar to when I was a student at A&M we had Aggie Bucks. It basically was a pre-paid account you could put on your student ID, you could use it at bookstores for food, notebooks, scan trons, etc....

The point is, like everything you purchase there is change. When you go to graduate you never get that money back, but it's not enough money to fight them over, but it is still drops in the bucket. If you have 2000+ graduates a year leaving A&M and they all had $0.05 that would be $100. I know I had more, maybe $2-3 if not more so if you look at it a that way it's adds up FAST.

In a similar way the PS3 store or the Xbox 360 marketplace has the same "scam/system" working in their favor but this time on a MUCH larger scale. Hundreds of thousands of customers all over the world, if all of them leave 50 cents to a dollar, that is a lot of money!

Not to mention the cost to make updated/new unis is minimal at best. With so many uniform changes this year you kinda saw this coming. I do not see the Uniform store as something they expected to make money. It is the closest thing to an apology as you will get from EA Sports, to the consumer that is.

If I were an EA Game Changer I might dare to ask why one person on the staff at Tiburon does not have Uni-Watch bookmarked as to figure this stuff out a bit quicker as a few of those jerseys were released in time to get on the disc.

In fact, they get info ahead of uni-watch by working directly with the uniform makers and schools and are under NDA because of it. The problem is though, as they mentioned in a podcast, if they go off of the mock-ups and pre-game renderings, they don't get the details 100%... maybe a logo is different or not all of the helmet decals are on, etc. It's the same as the stadiums under construction... they don't want to put something out that's wrong and then have to go back later and fix it.

That said, I would want/hope that they would have them practically all but finished and then on the Monday after game-day, do a quick comparison and make the final tweaks. The issue is though, sending it to Sony/MS then adds another delay in the process I imagine.

I'm still confused on this sony patch stuff. They came out w/ the patch a while back that added the uniform store but it wasn't open on PS3. Then they came out with another patch (this week) that opened the uniform store, or put content in it.

My question is, if EA comes out with more uniforms are we going to need a new patch or will they be able to add them to the uniform store?

I ask, because if we need a new patch is the PS3 going to be 2 weeks behind Xbox 360 again?

It just seems silly to have a patch with the uniform store, yet require subsequent patches to stock the store.

For purchasable content, a patch shouldn't be necessary... they'll just be added to the PSN store or XBL Marketplace. For free content, that might require a patch, although uniforms that haven't been unveiled or granted approval to release may have been included in a previous patch or even on-disc.

Considering many (including pastapadre) have railed EA the past few years because details on Washington, Arizona, etc. are different, I can understand them wanting to make sure to get it right the first time.

Additionally, I notice something similar with Arkansas State's uniforms. For NCAA12, they created them off of mock-ups but didn't include the black uniforms. They added the black for NCAA13 and you can tell a noticeable difference between the logo above the numbers on the two uniforms. The ones from 12 actually look awkward because the logo is so small. That said, I'm not going throw a fit, but I can see where it can get under some people's skin.

Sure I would love to have the FCS teams. I think with the custom conferences you could add the FCS leagues into it and allow for some awe inspiring customization. I would love to create an EPL like promotions/regulations system using the WAC and say the top 4 FCS playoff teams. Sure I would love to have the FCS teams. I think with the custom conferences you could add the FCS leagues into it and allow for some awe inspiring customization. I would love to create an EPL like promotions/regulations system using the WAC and say the top 4 FCS playoff teams. Now this would be cool. This is one thing I really enjoy doing with FIFA is taking over a really low level team and working or attempting to work my way up to the EPL. It would be sweet if you could do this is NCAA. This would extend the gameplay for a long time if you ask me. I'd love to take over a small Div III school and try and work up to the Pack-12, SEC, etc....

Last tweet i saw from them said no update for now. SMH. This is the problem that people talk about, you say you going to update the unis but you do it one time and then we don't hear anything else nor do we hear an update is coming all the while NEW unis are coming out. I'd say that's probably the case. Everyone expected new uniforms every single week. Realistically, it's going to be uniform packs every 2-3 weeks or once a month. People just need some patience. Any uniforms you buy or download will immediately be usable in your already ongoing dynasty, so it's not like waiting for a uniform to come out is going to prevent you from playing dynasty. And if people are getting that bent out of shape over waiting a couple weeks for a uniform, Jesus, their day to day lives must be goddamn perfect to have a uniform not coming out immediately be their biggest concern in life.

EA has a "history" of saying something is coming out.....then we wait...and wait....I think it's probably better off not telling us or publishing a release date, it's usually delayed and then all heck breaks loose on various forums. What gig said. It'll show up whenever they release it. With stuff like this, I doubt there exactly is a specific release date. Maybe they're waiting until they have a specific number of uniforms to package together, they're waiting until all the uniforms in a current, ready to go package have been used in actual games, etc. They'll come out whenever EA wants to release them, regardless of whether people complain about it or not, so for me personally, there's no point in worrying about it.

Then there was my personal favorite: the White Ops jerseys vs West Virginia. Whether of not you like most of Maryland's uniforms, these are awesome. Can't imagine it'd be hard for EA Sports to make considering it's just a gray-scale Pride outfit.

I fired up NCAA 13 tonight and it said something about Nike Pro Combat uniforms being available for teams but I didn't bother to see what teams as I figured I'd be able to go to the uniform store and download them.

Now I don't see them so I assume these were uniforms already in the game and are now unlocked for all of us. Are these the uniforms that were part of the pre-order bonus? Does anyone have a comprehensive list of the ones it unlocked?

I don't have the list right in front of me but yes, they're unlocked for you. I think Ohio State, Army, Navy, Boise State, and Oklahoma State are some of the teams. They're the unlocked uniforms from Amazon and the demo.

I mind the pink accessories. Someone is making a killing on all that pink merchandise when they should just DONATE money to breast cancer research. I think by now we all know Women can get breast cancer and it is a bad thing. Just like the Oregon uniforms this shit never stops. A few years and each month there will be a new color add-on for a different disease/illness. The NFL Cares, so November is Prostate Cancer Awareness where we will have all the players wearing white accessories, to celebrate man and his sperm production.

As far as I'm aware, at the collegiate level, it's voluntary. Ohio State supported a local Breast Cancer charity, and there was a decided difference between how many pink accessories some players were wearing versus others. Officially, the only mandated item for the players I can find is a pink ribbon on their helmets.

I can't tell if we did this for our Purdue game, but when we wore pink items for the spring game in 2010, the items were then auctioned off, with the proceeds going to charity.

I agree with you, doughty, that someone is probably making good money off of it, HOWEVER those companies are only making money because the schools and leagues want to show off support for a cause. I don't think Nike's going around asking teams to wear pink so they can make more money (and, if they are, then schools and leagues are foolish for letting them dictate it).

There is a tremendous connection between Ohio State football, the James cancer center, and breast cancer charities (not sure if they're awareness or grants, believe both), thanks to Chris and Stefanie Spielman. I'm fairly confident that practically no one at Ohio State has a problem with promoting it.

Part of it is Komen and another part is how "too much of the focus by the general public is on breast cancer". Yes breast cancer is bad and it kills women but NOT NEARLY as many women die from breast cancer as die from ovarian or uterine cancer (in other words breast cancer isn't nearly as deadly as the others when/if it occurs). Moreover, the detection/treatment for breast cancer is much more advanced than that of ovarian/uterine and thus why shouldn't more of the focus (research dollar donations) go to cancers we are having more trouble with.

I like the Texas Tech alternates, because I'm from Texas and like how they represented the flag on their shoulders. The uniforms are still pretty basic and just have the flag within the star added onto the shoulders and helmets. I also like the Oregon alternates, because they are keeping things fresh. Some teams I don't like because they just look foolish, Maryland. Although I do like their all white alternates. The times are changing and it's just a way of doing new things or everything would become stale. Just like how all these coaches were complaining about the spread offenses when they started and now pretty much every team is running some kind of variation of it.

Good heavens, I could care less about uniforms but this is why EA pisses me off so much. A tweet to tweet about nothing. If you are going to go out and make a Uniform store it should be updated weekly or at the very least every other week. There are a ton of uniforms/helmets from weeks past that could be added. If you are going to do something like this, do it right and not in the half-assed manner you seem to do everything else.

However, I do agree with your point about tweet about nothing. I know it was in response to a question (which, I must say, I'm glad they take the time to answer questions, a lot of companies don't), but the overall lack of communication is ... disheartening, at least. it's entirely possible that there will be no more uniform store updates for the rest of the year. But we're not any more likely to know that than to know there's one coming in two weeks. It's just too vague and noncommittal.

A&M's black uniforms, could have done without...maybe the wife and I are too traditional...Maroon and White are our colors...why in the world do they have Black uniforms? The maroon stripes were the only colors that represent our team. Why if Miss St is going to wear all white for the "snowbowl" why can't we wear maroon and white or all maroon? Why black?

Maybe I'm too much of an "Old Ag" but black uniforms were no my favorite. In fact it's been a long time since they've worn ALL maroon, against LSU we had maroon tops and pants but still had white face masks, I like when they go 100% maroon, otherwise the default home/away work for me.

I can confirm they are in the PS3 Uniform Store. They include the blue UCLA, a white Mississippi State (not the bulldog helmet), and I believe the Egg Bowl Mississippi State (gold numbers).

This was not mentioned in the uniform store but looking at game add ons on the xbox live marketplace i found 2 more uniform packs. One had the Boston College and Hawaii unis for the Wounded Warrior project for 80 points. the other had South Carolina's grey camo's, Maryland's White Ops, and Texas Tech Pride unis for 160 points. I went back to look in the uniform store after downloading them and still no mention of them.

Can someone not at work confirm or deny this?

Michigan fans have been dying for alternate uniforms for several years. We now have 2 alternates and would like to add the 2013 Outback Bowl uniforms to the NCAA13 football game as DLC. Please help to direct me to where I need to repost this thread to try to make that happen. Thanks.
