This thread is for signups, comments and jokes. Post here if you plan on playing.

I will begin the countdown at #150 in another thread in a week or so.

You must pm me your TOP 12 BEFORE I reach #100, there will be a pause after #101, but do keep up.

As far as clues here is an alphabetic list of the top 200. I will only countdown 150 however , so pick carefully.

I am going to offer a two year subscription to TGT for the person with the most points. So if you have not registered now is the time to do so

How will your lists be scored?

Matching #1 =150points, #2=149, #3= 148, #4=147, #5=146, #6=145, #7=144, #8=143, #9=142, #10=141, #11=140, #12=139
Listing anything in the top 12 without a direct match =125 points
Listing anything from #13-#25 = 100 points
Listing anything from #26-#50 = 75 points
Listing anything from #51-#75 = 50 points
Listing anything from #75-#100 = 25 points
Listing anything outside the top 100 = 0 points

That should work. The movie posters are fine, and then have the videos in spoilers underneath the movie posters.

Can probably hide both with titles, one for "poster" one for "trailer"

Eh, leaving the movie poster up is fine, that way everyone can see right away what placed where.

I'm thinking about joining, but I'm not sure. Considering I was only born in 1987, the hell if I'm gonna know how popular things were back then (compared to being popular these days due to being "classics"). I just went through the list, and while I've seen a lot, out of the list of 200, there's 84 that I haven't seen, so besides not knowing how popular of movies they were during the 80s (or when this list was compiled) compared to these days, I would have no clue how to even go about ranking them. Some of them obviously were huge and popular, but naturally that probably means they'll all be listed and gone before the top 25.

Votes were taken from over 3000 folks about 10-11 years ago. Unlike the music, not much "foreign" stuff made it in.

There's no way I could play this. This is my top 25 in no particular order:

Aliens
Back to the Future
Die Hard
The Empire Strikes Back
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Ghostbusters
The Goonies
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
The Karate Kid
Lethal Weapon
Once Upon a Time in America
Planes, Trains & Automobiles
Predator
Conan The Barbarian
The Princess Bride
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Rocky IV
Scrooged
The Shining
Spaceballs
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
The Terminator
They Live
The Thing
WarGames

I mean, some of these movies are in my personal top 25 of all time greatest movies, yet, I can almost guarantee that they aren't when you ask the average person that grew up in the 80s.

morsdraconis
09-05-2012, 09:53 AM

Yep, that's my problem. I'd want to list Spaceballs, Airplane, Back to the Future, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, The Blue Brothers, Caddyshack, A Christmas Story, Crocodile Dundee. That's just through the C's on the list (with Spaceballs added), and that's already 8 movies that I'd want to list, yet I can probably guaranteed that 75% of them won't even be in the top 20.
