View Full Version : Players disappearing late in the game...

I kind of noticed this in my solo dynasty, but since I am playing as UTSA and my players all end up injured by the end of each game I never thought much of it. In my OD, I am playing as Wisconsin and by the middle of the 3rd and usually the fourth quarters Montee Ball is no where to be seen. He doesn't come up on the injury report at all. And on the depth chart it doesn't show anything wrong. I checked about every minute (game time) on the injury report and there was nothing. I have my RB sub set at 80 out and 90 in, so I know it isn't taking him a whole quarter to get to 90. Is there something else in the game where it decides to sit a player?

I've wondered this myself. I think it has something to do with the sub sliders. If I lower them by a lot the HB will come back in, if I keep them higher he never seems to return.
The problem is finding the balance. I will have 1 or 2 O-lineman that are purplish/pink but the others will be fine.
Maybe try lowering your HB "in" setting, then see if he comes back in.

I don't want to mess with the sliders if I don't have to. It doesn't makes sense that if I am at 80 out and 90 in, that it would take more than a quarter to get back to 90 for a star player. Especially since he goes in and out in the first half in a normal fashion. I am thinking there has to be something else going on.
It's too bad that they don't actually show the number for their fatigue since some of us are actually colorblind and have trouble telling the colors for the fatigue on the game screen. Plus it would make it easy to see that if it was taking a long time to get back to 90, as in this case, to sub back in, you could tell by looking on the depth chart.

Put it at 85 out, 84 in and your problem will be solved.

Problem not solved unfortunately because then he is in all the time. I shouldn't have to adjust my sliders if they work right in the first half. Something else has to be happening. I'm still looking for why this would be happening at all.

Really? My RB gets subbed out often with that setup.

Yeah, I go something like 85/80 or 89/85. My starter will be in for the first series or two without break, then from that point on, if I rush it more than 3 times in a row, the backup comes in for a couple plays and lets my starter catch his breath.

It depends on the speed of the game too. If you chew the clock, your RB never comes out but if you are agressive in getting to the line and call a lot of no huddle you will see a lot more subs. Sadly NCAA continues to neglect adding sliders. MADDEN has a global fatigue slider. I set it to 70 and this runs down the players much quicker and allows for more realistics subs/gameplay.

My RB is still gone even when I am chewing the clock. Literally is not in the game for the whole 4th Quarter. It isn't a slider issue either, because i lowered by out to 0 so that he would play the whole game regardless and then I just changed RBs by going to the depth chart and he still wasn't on the field, it would go to the backup.

That's weird. What is your pass/run breakdown? All I can think is that your RB gets too many carries? The only other thing I can think of is using your 2nd and 3rd string RB in your formation subs to make sure your starter stays fresh well into the 2nd half. I go with a 3 back system (for every ten carries, 7-2-1 run breakdown)

It's set at 65R/35P, Montee is averaging less than 20 carries per game with about 155 yards per game.
That's what I am wondering, what in the game would determine he is getting too many carries? I would think it would be me, since I am the head coach, but if the system can make that judgement, shouldn't the game indicate an exhausted player or something, like as an injury? I know that the general response would be that if you move the right controller at the line of scrimmage he should show red, but he doesn't. His is white when we start the 2nd half and then after a series, maybe two if I am lucky, he is just gone. Never do I see him change colors.

That red circle you're talking about means he is hot, not fatigued.
Fatigue is shown in the formation part of the playbook.

Steelerfan, I LOVE your sliders and you are my personal guru here, I never have to make many adjustments due to personal preference. I just don't think it's a slider issue though, if I have it at out at 0 out and 5 back in, he should never leave the game unless he is dead, and I have never seen a player die on the field in the game. Montee ball wouldn't be down to 0 in the 3rd quarter unless you ran him every play and even then, with resting at the half, 1 drive wouldn't take him to zero. His color doesn't go red on the formation screen either. I know everyone is focusing on sliders, but I just don't think that is it.

Try a game at RB 80/85 and see if that's it. It has to be, I believe.

That's my gut feeling as well. If that doesn't do it then there is no fix I guess??? I usually go 79/80 but I haven't seen anything remotely like this since NCAA 10, the year auto-subs were 100% broken.

Still happening. I am on 80/85. I am paused right now in the 4th since the Badgers are playing but it happened again. I took pictures of the stats after the 1st and then the formation screen starting the second. Same at the half and start of the third. After the first drive of the of the third he was gone again. And I am chewing the clock!
The only thing that I saw that was different was when I looked at Montee in the depth chart and the stats screen, he had some weird blue icon of a player standing with a ring of blue stars from hip to hip over the top between his name box and his head. It rotates with the All-American icon.

Ok, so finished my game at the half. Montee Ball scored his 2nd TD with 5:56 left in the 3rd quarter, playing 8 min quarters, and that was the last I saw of Ball the rest of the game. He had 20 carries for 164 yards. Nothing showing on the injury report.
At the half the score was 35-7 and Montee Ball had 15 attempts for 112 yards and 1 TD.
So after 5 carries in the 2nd half, he was done.

Are you playing as an OC? I see you only mentioning offensive players. If you're the OC then the head coach may be using mass subs.

HC. On Defense I play usually as the ROLB or the RE and they seem, to be rotating properly. Plus I have been winning 40+ to around 10 on average so my offense has been on the field more and when I run, I become him as opposed to defense I could switch to the closest player. If it were mass subs, the QB would be going out too as well as the rest of the offense. I have Abbrederis with more yards, although they are receiving, and TDs than Ball and he is always in the game.
