While the default Heisman sliders aren't bad I still feel there are things that are glaringly wrong. Here are my thoughts.

1. Human interceptions- we are getting way to many and that is stalling drives for our opponent and contributing to some of the upsets we are seeing that simply shouldn't happen. We can simply lower HUM INT to 45 for season 4 and see how that goes.

2. Human QB accuracy- our QBs are way to accurate and just like above this is causing several issues such as easily completed deep balls that are rarely missed, very few errant passes and very few dropped passes...this is also contributing to the unreal upsets...few ways we can go about correcting this I think, lower HUM QB accuracy, raise CPU pass coverage, lower HUM WR catching or even toying with the speed threshold so that faster players like CBs usually are can make up the ground of a slower WR streaking past

3. In game gameplanning feature- Talking about the feature here where you can set offensive and defensive things to aggressive, conservative or balanced. I think this may be skewing our results as well. I typically set several of these on both sides of the ball to a variety of things but in my two recent games I got blown out I kept everyting at balanced the entire game and to me this made for more realistic gameplay. I think this feature is overpowered and can give us an unfair advantage when playing the dumb & inconsistent computer play calling. So my suggestion here would be to leave everything balanced on both sides of the ball except the game tempo which you can use to speed up or slow down how fast you get to the LOS on offense to either run the clock or speed it up if you're behind or just like to go fast.

These are just a few of my thoughts on ways to make this experience better than it already is. I know some will say, leave it be and it can't be fixed and it'll never be perfect. While I agree with the latter I do not believe the former. I believe we can make it better and I'm not willing to simply throw my hands up and not even try to.

I can give specific stats and examples if need be to back up my thoughts.

Please everyone feel free to leave your thoughts and suggestions and I won't do anything unless 3 out of 4 of us agree on it.

This whole thing may well be as simple as adjusting the speed threshold and making very slight changes to a few things.

I agree with all of your points. Interceptions are a major issue right now. QB accuracy as well. I vote to make the changes.

Alright, fellas. I understand your point of view, and I respectfully disagree. It seems like this league is determined to find sliders that perfectly emulate realism in the real NCAA, and while I find that to be an admirable goal, I don't believe that EA had that in mind when programming the game. They cater to the arcade market, and try as we might to adjust sliders to make things more simulation based, we are still working from a product functioning within the arcade-style framework. Attempting to make an arcade based sports game play like a sim game is like trying to turn a pickup truck into a race car. It's never going to compete as a racer, and oftentimes in the process of meddling with the truck in the process, one could end up stripping it of any strong points it did have.

I think we all enjoy leagues like this because it is a healthy release from the endless list of stress inducers we all have in our lives, such as work, family, the wife, kids, etc. When issues over slider changes are constantly brought up for debate, instead of helping to alleviate the stress of the "real world," it could potentially have the opposite effect. Things will never be perfect, guys, and I'm not the kind of person that enjoys pointing out the flaws in something meant to be enjoyable. Consistently doing so redirects the focus to the point of potentially robbing the fun out of the entire process.

It seems we're at a stalemate. You two want to tinker with the game, and I'm ready to put the tools away and enjoy the game for what it is. I'll finish out the season, and we can have a more in depth discussion about potential changes then if you'd like. Honestly though, with the tendency for this league to remain in a constant state of flux in terms of gameplay settings, and my preference for gameplay stability, perhaps the two approaches aren't compatible long term.

In light of PW's comments and what I know to be Boss' thoughts on the subject I won't bring it up again till after the season and we've had a full season of stats and games with one slider set to get the big picture. Discussion closed...for now.

no slider changes for now, we've come to that conclusion but what about my #3 above?

Banning the gameplanning feature so that you have to keep everything balanced except offensive clock management...

Yes, no???

Lets keep it in play to get a good idea of total year stats and use this next year and compare stats.

10-4, no changes at all until after the season

;) It would appear that I'm a lame duck coach at this point then. Fair enough.

ZP, I dont quite understand your reluctance to having Kernzy make small changes to the league as it progresses. We have found that Heisman works best and now needs a little tweeking. Better than the major jumping form Varsity to AA back to Varsity with major changes to sliders at each point. Majority of the work is done and tweeks need to be made. Why jump ship now? This league WILL run until next years game comes out. Why not find what works best for the long run.

Don't quite understand why you'd be a lame duck coach ZP? I'm not making any changes until after this season and the changes would be extremely minor in nature. But also as Ud said, if you aren't willing to deal with a minor bit of change for the betterment of the experience as a whole then you are certainly welcome to look for greener pastures.

I understand what you're saying, but I think that stating that we're only making "small changes" now might be taking things a bit out of context from a historical point of view. Or are you suggesting this is the last bit of tweaking we will make? My issue is that the "minor changes" routine has been an ongoing process at this point. It seems like we'll never be happy with the outcome, constantly making adjustments a click this way or that... This perfection you seek to turn the game into doesn't exist, brother, but for the sake of your sanity and the GMs that will stick around to find out, I genuinely hope that I'm wrong about that.

As I've said before. Perfect or not I'm not going to sit on my hands and not try to improve the game. We are close but there is still a little work that needs done. I'm not forcing anyone to stay if they don't want to.

Then I hope the changes you make bring you closer to the gaming experience you're seeking. You might want to start a coach mode slider thread here and OS to get feedback and help you reach your goals sooner. I know there are a handful of threads around already, but they are not updated often and have trouble maintaining a regular following. In any case, I think we both understand how the issue is from both ends. The slider issues are a passion of yours, and I can respect that. If you're okay with me politely dismissing myself from future slider change talks so I can just focus on the fun of the league and building up UCLA (or stealing FSU from Bossmo :D), that might help things from my end.
