These threads are more "fun" threads then serious politics. They're so those of similar viewpoints can discuss subjects without getting into back-and-forth arguments from the opposition. Not to change minds or anything like that. If you don't want to engage in the discussion, don't read or post. I do feel that they have their place as everyone here is grown and I believe that even if we disagree on things, we can discuss them as our forefathers intended, like civil human beings.

Yes Jeff, these two "political" threads are useless. The left wingers are going to post pro-Obama things and the right wingers are going to post anti-Obama things. What is it going to really do besides start a ginormous flame war?

Yes, I am talking it personal. He called ME a commie. It's what right wing idiots always resort to when they want to goad someone into saying something. I don't play games.

Nazis and Communists need their own separate threads. With 10 of the original 12 Communists being Jewish, Nazis don't care for them, and vice versa.

For whatever it is worth I didn't call mors a "commie". Rather, I simply stated in the Right Wing Propoganda thread that if he didn't like/agree with my thread/posts he could create a "Communists Manifesto Thread" (in other words the same thread I had started only for the left).

Also note the blatant inconsistencies in bold.

I find it interesting that the DEMOCRAT PARTY of the USA is considered a LEFTIST party. In Canada, Britain, France, etc. pretty much the vast majority of social welfare states the US Democrats are PRETTY MUCH A CENTRE-RIGHT PARTY. In Canada we have two LEFT parties (GREEN, and NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY) in the CENTRE we have the Liberals and to the right we have the CONSERVATIVES. The Republican party makes our Conservative party look like socialists.

National Socialist Workers Party of Germany - does a "Socialist" "Workers Party" sound ANYTHING like the Right???

Nazis wanted Universal Health Care

Nazis controlled each and every aspect of private life

Nazis hated capitalism

Yeah I won't argue on the acronym (but it is actually National Socialist German Workers Party but I digress). However, when Hitler joined the party and later took over it was filled with anti-communists and WWI military veterans. It's ideals were based upon Mussolini's Fascist state which as you well know is exreme right wing (minus the corporate state model). In truth however, much of NAZiIsm was made up as Hitler went along. The assertion that NAZI's hated capitalism is foolish. Hitler hated anything he could not control. Yes it's true that NAZISM embraced KEYNESIAN economics and as such emerged first from the great depression. But when you look at the spending patterns, the number one expense is military. In addition, Hitler fully embraced secret police and military spending while at the same time took out church officials in an attempt to abolish "God" and advocated that a good wife would be the perfect housewife and obedient to the state (aka Hitler).

It's important not to mix up RIGHT WING and TOTALITARIAN DICTATORSHIP. However, the reality was that in order for Hitler to achieve in military industrial complex, Hitler needed a strong military/resource base. He never forgot however that HE was the ultimate source of power and that above all he must be obeyed. No, NAZI true capitalism wasn't as powerful in Germany as in Italy... BUT... Mussolini's coroprate state was week while Hitler's power was unquestioned.

As for NAZI's wanting universal healthcare, many countries have brought in universal healthcare without having left leaning governments. That just happens to be a key pillar of the welfare state. However, what you seem to forget is that a SOCIALIST would not embrace the policies of Mein Kampf, Kristallnacht, the Night of the Long Knivesthe Nuremburg Laws, the Final Solution, etc. A leader that blieves and practise mass murder, genocide, forced sterilization, etc. isn't really all about human rights, gender equality, etc ... some of the pillars of Leftist thought.

steelerfan

Hitler was only the 55th member of the party. The party, as jaymo indicated, shaped it's beliefs around Hitler, not vice versa.

That said, Hitler was responsible for putting the workers at the forefront. He preached to the white collar guys that they couldn't do what they did without the blue collar guys and vice versa. He also worked to improve working conditions for those blue collar workers (think OSHA). However, none of that makes him comparable to today's Liberal Democrat.

Well, there are two beliefs I follow. Regardless of who with, your family, your wife, your friends, strangers on the internet, never talk Politics and never talk Religion. Nothing good will ever come of it. All you'll have in the end are angry people and (as I have personally seen between fucktards stupid enough to get into these bullshit political and religion debates) friendships ruined because one fucktard said something in anger in response to something the other fucktard had said.

It may start off light hearted and joking, but in the end, every political and religion thread inevitably devolves into one group of fucktards flaming another group of fucktards and soon you just have a massive fucktard war that results in closed threads, bans, infractions, new rules banning future political and religion threads, and a forum that looked like world war 3 just happened.

#1 Free Market Capitalism is key to modern conservative thought - so equating someone that takes away a key portion of conservatism hardly seems logical
#2 Complete Government/Dictator Control - again hardly a concept accepted within conservative circles
#3 See Stalin; Planned Parenthood Founder; etc.... as leftists engaged in violating "pillars of Leftist thought"

But, the wonderful thing is that we have 2 threads here where supporters of each group can jump back and forth pushing their agenda and flaming each other. One thread would be uncalled for, this setup is far superior.

He just proved that "Fox & Friends" don't do background checks at all on their guests and only brought him on the show because he was someone that supported Obama (even though he wasn't old enough to vote for him in 2008) and then was going to vote for Romney. That's all that sham of a "news" show needed to bring him on instead of actually checking up on who he is or even reading his email he sent to them in the first place (which is in the description of the video on youtube along with an email from him to the people that posted the video about why he did what he did).

Romney is nothing but "tell the people what sounds good or what they want to hear, even though I have no intentions on ever following through on anything I say and have no figures or numbers to back up what I say."

It's shameful to read and listen to what some are saying.

It truly is. Now it is definitely no secret that I did not at all care for Romney, and much like some even on here, with their opinions about Obama, I shared similar opinions, just that it would be Romney that would screw this country the next 4 years if elected. But had Romney won last night, yes, I'd be very disappointed, but I would get over it and support Romney as President to work on getting this country back on track. I may not like Romney as a person, but I'd respect him and hope for the best with him as President.

But with the results official and it being Obama winning, the partisanship I am seeing everywhere is just sickening. The time for partisanship is during the campaign and election. The election is now over. It's time for bipartisanship and working together to get this country fixed.

While I am still done as far as commenting in the Right Wing thread, I was reading it last night and this morning just to see how the election was being handled by our fellow members, and it was disappointing to see what was being said last night. I respect CLW, I've respected him for as long as we have both been here. But to hear him saying that he would rather the country implode and go over the cliff than Republicans in the House work with Democrats to fix this country, was very disappointing, especially if he truly believes that and it wasn't just him blowing election night steam.

It truly is getting to the point of disgusting the severe amount of partisanship and refusal to work together in this country. Republicans will not do it by themselves, Democrats will not do it by themselves. But apparently, in the minds of some, if Republicans can't do it by themselves, then no one will be allowed to do it. No one party will do it, it's going to take a combined effort. Threatening House Republicans with being voted out their next election if they dare to work across the aisle and compromise in favor of new Republicans who will toe the party line and refuse to budge on anything is what is fucking this country. If anything in this country, past, present or future would or will ever get done, it's going to take working together from both sides. Compromise is a fact of life, especially with the state of the country. Demanding that Republicans go full turtle and draw the line in the sand on their own 5 yard line will only fuck this country even worse than Republicans accuse Obama of doing so.

I truly hope everyone in Congress will listen to what both Romney and Obama said last night, and work together and bring bipartisanship in Washington back to life. It's the only way this country will get back on track. It's the only way this country will ever get back on track, regardless of it was President-Elect Obama or President-Elect Romney.

Obama's narrow re-election victory will not strike fear in the hearts of Republicans, who remain in control of the House of Representatives. Obama's Democrats held on to the Senate, but fewer moderates of either party will be in the mix. That is a recipe for more gridlock and white-knuckle showdowns over taxes and spending. Reaching consensus on even the most routine legislation will be difficult."There's not going to be a lot of goodwill on the Hill," said Princeton University history professor Julian Zelizer. "The party lines will be hardened after this election."

You stay classy Right Wingers. :fp:

I hope that comment wasn't pointed at me for posting that flag. I am not a Right Winger (or a Liberal for that matter) and, as I've expressed before, I believe we "regular people" are screwed either way.

FYI, now that the election is over both "propaganda" threads will be closed after midnight tonight. Use today to get it out of your system and move on.

:D Oh no, it was directed at you. It was partly to the Republicans talking on TV, those I've seen on Facebook, Twitter, in comment sections on news websites, and in part due to a small handful of comments that were made in the Right Wing thread. No, your post gave me a chuckle. I probably would have found it funnier if I just plain wasn't ready for anything and everything with this election to be over and for the country to move on now. I would love for Ohio to take an election off as a battleground state, let someone else have the title. :D
