View Full Version : Great players going undrafted?

Not that I'm complaining or anything, just asking if this has happened to anyone else... After completing my second year at :Kansas: my MLB was an 88 overall and was a dominant force on an otherwise mediocre D. He shattered the career record for sacks at :Kansas: and led the team in tackles both years and literally saved my defense numerous times.
However, upon graduating he went undrafted. Completely undrafted! :(
I know from several others and from my own experience that DT's don't get drafted in this year's game, but when my Pro Rating is a D- and I turn out a MLB who is an absolute stud as well as a QB and three WR's who all made huge contributions and none get drafted... it's a bit disheartening.
Again - not complaining - just wondering if this is common in the game this year?

I had Logan Ryan who finished his career as a 95 overall CB go undrafted out of Rutgers.
Was very disappointing.

An 88 MLB not getting drafted could be attributed to having too many MLBs rated higher than him. Though, if he broke the school record for sacks, that shouldn't happen.
A 95 CB though?!?! I have no idea how that would happen.
It seems clear, from what others have said, that this logic needs some tweaking. It seems that there needs to be a balance struck between measurables and production. I feel that measurables should be weighted more than production but, at some positions, production has to count for a bit more than it apparently does.

You bring up some valid points Steelerfan, and whilst I can't recall exactly what his "attributes" were, he's a Junior MLB on the default :Kansas: roster. All I changed on him was his name - went w/ automated names and he was "Matt Smith" - and his uniform #, which was 99 after I changed it. But if memory serves, he had something like 83 speed, mid 80's play recognition and upper 80's tackling. These numbers were, of course, going into his Senior season.
I just felt that a guy like that playing in a conference that plays some pretty good teams - :Texas: - :Oklahoma: - :Oklahoma_State: - :Kansas_State: etc... as well as a tough out of conference schedule, he would have at least been drafted in the first three rounds. To go UNdrafted was shocking to say the least.

Wow a 95 rated cb that is crazy. I agree with above I can see the MLB going undrafted.
Maybe they could tuner it?? Anyone else have an idea?
