TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — "Yeah, I considered benching him. The whole stadium probably considered benching him. Hell, I considered benching all of them!"

These blatantly honest comments were made by Florida State head coach Jeff HCross, regarding quarterback EJ Manuel's first half performance, after the Seminoles 31-10 victory over the #4 Georgia Bulldogs. The Bulldogs had yet to play a game this season, but for the first two quarters it was evident why the pollsters continued to rank them at fourth overall, as they stymied the same Seminole offense that had put together impressive wins over Clemson and Arkansas.

But, just like in the win against Arkansas, the Florida State defense provided the shot in the arm that changed the momentum in the ballgame. Trailing 10-3 with 1:00 left in the first half, new starting CB Keelin Smith undercut a pass from Aaron Murray, then returned the interception 53 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 10. Florida State would force a quick Georgia punt, and get into field goal range with :01 left in the half, but Dustin Hopkins' kick sailed just wide. The quick turnaround would be an indicator of things to come in the second half.

The Florida State defense, in particular, turned it up in the second half, intercepting two more passes in the second half and registering six sacks for the game. The Seminole offense took advantage of the momentum, with EJ Manuel throwing TD passes to Rashad Greene on consecutive drives. Devonta Freeman added a rushing touchdown to close out the third quarter, and that would be it for scoring in the game.

Hybrid CB/SS Greg Reid led the Seminole defense with 12 Total Tackles and a sack, and new starting MLB Telvin Smith added six solo tackles and a sack of his own.

----------------------------------------------------

Florida State: 22 rushes for 72 yards and 1 TD; 15/26 passing for 233 yards and 2 TD.
Georgia: 38 rushes for 126 yards; 11/23 passing for 125 yards and 1 TD.

Georgia was 6/14 on 3rd down while Florida State was 3/10.

EJ Manuel was 9/18 in the first half and 6/8 in the second.

----------------------------------------------------

I'll admit it ... there were several times in the 2nd quarter that I was ready to rage-quit this game. EJ Manuel was missing everybody in the first half, and when he would put the ball on target, I'd either get stopped just short or the ball would be dropped. The running game was an absolute disaster -- I probably averaged 2.0 YPC or less in the first quarter. This came with basically the same offense I used against Razorback earlier today (though, upon review, I discovered that he outgained me by nearly 100 yards). The offense is fine now, but the inconsistency of this game (or these sliders) is maddening.

Doesn't feel unrealistic though ... but this is the kind of slider set/gameplay that makes things like Appalachian State/Michigan possible. They're basically realistic, but the uncertainty of the games may drive some of us crazy.

And just to reinforce my offensive woes in the first half ... one of my drives was 17 plays, and that was the drive that ended in a field goal. :fp: :(

Nebraska nips Ohio st. 38-31. Burkhead went off and ran fro 184yrds on 24 carries. Braxton miller did what he could and had the buckeyes driving late until the buckeyes fumbled the ball away on the nebraska 15.

Took way to long to get something going on offense again. Nebraska's run defense was very good. Had a couple big runs to give me the numbers I did have.

Notre Dame escapes East Lansing 34-31.

It was a Tommy Rees game for the most part, going 28-33, 382, 3 TDs, 1 INT

Eifert couldnt find much room to work with. Luckily Robby Toma (6 Rec, 104, 1 TD,) John Goodman (4 Rec, 79, 1 TD) and T.J. Jones (8 Rec, 52 yds, 1 TD) stepped up nicely.

The decisive drive featured nearly 5 minutes of ball control, as Everet Golson ran some Read Option, and nice power running, by Cierre Wood (17 carries, 66 yds, 1 TD), who scored the go ahead TD.

Razor, I should be good this evening sometime. My wife gets home from work at around 6pm est so I could go around 7pm after dinner.

Kingpin, I believe I have narrowed it down to around 23 or 24 guys. Remember, there are no "new" prospects that pop up in the offseason.

Alabama remains undefeated as they defeat the Razorbacks by the score of 35-10. In a 5:30 second span of the 2nd quarter the Tide put up 21 points(including 2 TD's in a 40 second span) to pull away to a 28-7 lead at half. They then received the opening 2nd half kickoff and drove down to score another TD to put the game out of reach.

Next Week Bama is on a Bye before their big recruiting week vs Ole Miss.

GG razor, that pick 6 right at the end of the half was the backbreaker, especially after you got that fumble recover just before that. I was trying to slide and McCarron just would not drop quick enough. :D Good luck the rest of the season.
