Yeah that's what I was thinking of earlier, but it slipped my mind when I was making the posts.
That's the good thing with a dynasty like this, you'll be able to do a dedicated tracking of team records if you wanted to. That's the problem with my dynasty, where instead of following one team, I'm following one coach. So really the best I can do, is what I'm doing now, mentioning all the new team records in my season wrap-up/off season posts, instead of having a dedicated section at the beginning of the thread, since I'm going to be moving from team to team throughout the career of the coach.
Oh, and I'm officially following. :) Looks great so far, I can't wait to see what the future holds for North City. Like I said with souljahbill and CLW, I'm so damn glad to see some of you guys stepping up and doing dynasties with the release of '13. Besides the one or two random dynasties that would pop up from month to month, and not usually last beyond a month, it was pretty much only me posting over in this corner of the forums. Gets sort of lonely after a while. :D Glad I'm gonna have new dynasties, new material, and new careers to follow over here in Dynasty Land.

Game Summary
When the game started up and it was pouring rain outside we knew we were going to be in some trouble. Running an offense that is based around the pass is hampered ten-fold in inclement weather. It was a very ugly game. We got the ball first, and immediately went 3 and out to give Pitt the ball. They would score first, going up 7-0 with 2:16 remaining in the first quarter. Pitt’s running game carried them throughout the game. We would score our first touchdown in school history not too long after that with a 13-yard pass from Gatewood to Larkin, but we missed the extra point. :fp:
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/da07kingpin/421A0001_1_JPEG_SCREENSHOT_owV.jpg
No points were scored in the second quarter, as ugly punts and dropped passes, and a blocked field goal would be the highlights of the quarter. The score at halftime is 6-7 Pitt. The only score in the 3rd quarter came from an 88-yard scamper by Pitt’s R. Graham.

We’re down 14 to 6 going into the fourth quarter. We start the quarter by giving up a field goal, and with the way the offense was moving, the field goal was going to be the beginning of the end for us. But Gatewood turns it up and hits Marquardt with a 33-yard pass for a touchdown. Immediately after that, we give up 74 yard run to Bennett on a Wildcat play. Not good. We answer back with a quick TD to keep us in the game. Pitt comes back out in the exact same formation, run the exact same play, and the same result occurred. Touchdown. We don’t answer back so quickly, but we score again with 1:00 left in the 4th. Oh we also went for the 2 point conversion on our previous TD and failed. And we failed this 2 point conversion also. But, we were an onside kick away from a miracle comeback. Well we didn’t get it. Game. Blouses. Pitt wins 31-25.

While it unfortunately was a loss, it was a very promising start for the football program at North City University. Being able to hang with Pitt and lose by only 6, in horrible weather, it shouldn't be long before you guys get your first victory. I honestly could see 4, 5, even 6 wins potentially in North City's immediate future if the boys build on this win and keep up the hard work.
Great start to the dynasty Kingpin. I'm looking forward to your next game.

Thanks Smooth! Yeah, it really was a tough game. My defense made stops, but there were sooo many dropped passes that we couldn't capitalize. And the 2 big Wildcat runs from Pitt were draining. We got Syracuse next week, so I'm hoping for a win.

Yeah, Syracuse was the first one I see you beating or at least having a chance of beating. Looking at your schedule, I can see a good chance of wins against Syracuse, Vanderbilt and New Mexico State, with potential chances for wins against Marshall and Ohio, and even a toss up chance against FIU (as much as it pains me to say, lol). Looking forward to the recap from Syracuse. Definitely hoping for and pulling a win for the Stars!

Game Summary:
Well it’s cold and raining. Thanks New York weather. We’re playing against Syracuse today, our “rival” from upstate. We here at NCU consider this to be an emerging rivalry, while Syracuse just looks at it as a warm up game. Well warm up to deezze. Ok, that’s out the way. Another rainy, ugly game. The first quarter was rather uneventful. It was more like the opening rounds to a boxing match, the 2 teams were just trying to feel each other out. So let’s move on to the 2nd quarter.
Again, we couldn’t stop the run. Last week we ran a 4-2-5 and couldn’t stop it, this week we ran a 3-4 and couldn’t stop it. Syracuse strikes first by marching up the field and scoring on a 2 yard run by Gulley. One of the big things that kept us in the game was missed opportunities by Syracuse. They missed so many field goals. We would score our first home TD in school history on a 73 yard pass from Gatewood to Felder. Get used to that combination. Syracuse would march down the field again in an effort to get points before the half, but an interception by Tatum would stop that. So we go to the half tied up 7-7. Another nail bitter in the making.
http://youtu.be/RGNua4aPDrI
3rd quarter starts with Syracuse getting the ball and keeping a drive going that would stall out on a 4th down stop by the defense. We were hoping that this drive would be the drive that would give us our first lead in school history. And it was. We marched down the field and score on a pass from Gatewood to Greene. It took us 6 ½ quarters but we have a lead. Only to squander it on the next drive, as a 33 yard run from Gulley ties it up. We end the third all tied up 14-14.
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/da07kingpin/week23.jpg
4th quarter. Let the fireworks begin. Syracuse starts it off with a punt. We’re driving down the field when an uncostly fumble strikes and turn the ball over. SU wastes no time, by scoring on a 50-yard bomb.
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/da07kingpin/week22.jpg
We get the ball, and we’re moving. But the freshman makes a crucial mistake and throws an interception with 4:29 left in the game. Defense holds, but now we can’t catch a ball to save our lives. 4 straight incompletions. 2 were wide open drops. Again, the defense holds, giving us the ball back with 1:50 and a score of 21-14. We can do it right? No. More drops and missed reads. We had a total of 10 drops recorded, and more that went unrecorded. SU scores a TD real late, one that got the home crowd riled up cause they could’ve just kneeled down and ended the game. But hey, we score with 0:05 left on a 74-yard bomb to Greene again. But it was for naught, as we lose to Syracuse 28-21.

Damn man. Sorry about the loss. :( I thought for sure you guys would get that first win against Syracuse. Still hanging tough though, staying right there at the end. Hopefully you can shock someone in these next couple games. I know it's inaugural season and all, but I'd hate to see you guys potentially end up 0-5 or worse. :( Keep fighting the good fight man. Looking forward to the FIU game.

I thought I had this one too. The INT late hurt me, and the 50 yard bomb they threw seemed impossible as there were 2 guys covering him, but they both just had bad positioning. But our offense looked a lot better this game.

Running an offense that is based around the pass is hampered ten-fold in inclement weather. That would be the other piece of information your original set of posts is missing ... you've said nothing about how your team actually plays on the field.
Nicely done on the write-up though.

Thanks. I should probably put what type of offense and defense I'm running up there. ;)

Game Summary
Well this was a game of firsts. First, this was the first game that was played in perfect weather. Nighttime in New York. This was the first time we wore grey jerseys. We got our first defensive touchdown in this game. See, a lot of firsts.
Well let’s get to the actual game. First quarter was pretty uneventful, each team drove down only to punt the ball away multiple times. We were able to squeeze out a field goal in the first quarter to lead it 3-0 going into the second. Our first time scoring first.
Second quarter came around and we weren’t through scoring. In the first minute, Leigh throws a 20 yard pass to Jeremy Marquardt for a TD. 10-0. Could this be our first shutout too? A few minutes later, FIU throws an INT and Swan takes it to the house. 17-0 and our first defensive touchdown. The home crowd liked how this was going. The shutout would end though, as FIU was able to march down and thanks to a 2 yard run by Medlock. But at halftime it is 17-7 so we’re still feeling good.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/da07kingpin/week33.jpg
Third quarter was ruled by INTs and punts, but we were able to score on a screen pass for 25 yards to Rivas. We’re going into the 4th quarter with a 24-7 lead. Feeling real good now. We would kick a field goal to take a 27-7 lead, but FIU would immediately answer with a 68 yard bomb touchdown pass. 27-14. Would we choke and give up the lead? Well after driving and using some clock, we score the dagger touchdown with an 11 yard run from Rivas which was also our first rushing touchdown. Game. Blouses. We get our first win in school history and our first home win 34-14.

Game Summary
Well here’s the game that was circled on Michigan’s cal… yeah let’s not lie and say Michigan has been looking forward to this match up. We just wanted to see if we could hang with the big boys and get a little money in our pockets. What actually ended up happening, well, we definitely weren’t expecting it.
First quarter. Michigan gets the ball first so we’re thinking let’s get a three and out. Well that didn’t happen. On the second play from scrimmage, Toussaint takes it to the house on a 69-yard run. Ok. It’s our turn. On our first play from scrimmage the ball bounces out the receiver’s hand and into the defense’s hands. Not a good start. Michigan would score with the great field position. Tell of what kind of day it was going to be. Michigan would close out the scoring in the first quarter with another touchdown. 21-0. Now we’re thinking, “let’s just survive”
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/da07kingpin/week43.jpg
Second quarter starts and Michigan hasn’t stepped off the gas yet. Dennard would run it in himself with a 15-yard TD run. He ended the game with 100 yards rushing. And Toussaint had over 200 yards. More interceptions are thrown. At this point it’s 28-0. Can we at least get a field goal? Well we do at the end of the quarter so we finally got points on the board. Halftime. 28-3.
Now, let me begin by saying that this was a record setting day for Gatewood. Onto the third quarter. We take the first drive of the half and we score a touchdown. Just trying to survive the game. We’re on national TV, we got to save some kind of face. We stop Michigan. We seemed to do that a lot this quarter. We score again, a 3 yard pass from Gatewood to Felder. Freshman connection. At this point it’s 28-17. Survival mode has now turned into upset mode. We had momentum. We get more stops from the defense, and we score again to end the third quarter. 24-28. We are in this game.
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/da07kingpin/week44.jpg
4th quarter. Surely Michigan has woken up out of their half time slumber right? Well they sort of did. Goliath was doing everything to hold on to their small lead aside from scoring points. And David was doing everything to keep this game close. The ending minutes of the 4th is what decided the game. Michigan marches down and score what was sure to be the dagger touchdown with only a little over 2 minutes left in the game. Well, the next drive due to a mistimed dive, we score on a big play that took very little off the clock. 35-31. Of course we go for the onside kick. AND WE GOT THE BALL BACK!! Ok relax we’re only in the most historic stadium going against the #5 ranked team in the nation. And we put our fate in the hands of the freshman Gatewood. Well in one minute, we score thanks to 2 big 4th down conversions. WE ARE WINNING 38-35 with 1:00 left on the clock. Boot the kickoff. Dennard now is leading his team to beat a lowly school out of New York. Well he does everything and gets his team into field goal range. Fuck. 0:05 left. We had 1 TO left, so we use it to ice the kicker. He takes the kick. It’s up but it’s going to the left. Still going to the left. It hits the ground, just left of the crossbar. He missed it. A hush went over the stadium. #5 ranked Michigan just lost.
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/da07kingpin/week4.jpg
The game was clearly a tale of 2 halves. And we happened to click in the second half. What a game. Final score 38-35.

Game Story:
Humbled. Disappointed. These are the type of words that went through coach Mason’s head after the loss to Vanderbilt University. “We got brought back to reality today. Nothing more” Coach Mason said. What is North City’s reality? An over-achieving set of kids for the time being. After riding high off a win against then #5 ranked Michigan, and beating rival UConn for the first time, the Stars got haded a devastating loss to Vandy, 33-9. 5 INTs told the story of the game, as the Stars just couldn’t find a rhythm.

Important notes:
By a razor’s edge did we win this game. We had to compete with a dual threat QB and those have given us trouble in the past. Gatewood did great, completing 55% of his passes and throwing for 4 TDs. Actually had a solid day of running the ball too. The buzz on campus is that we could actually become bowl eligible this year, which would be great. 2 wins away.

2014 Season Preview
The goal this season is to not only be bowl eligible, but to also make it to a bowl this year. Our first season we won the 6 games, but we also lost 6 games. Our second season was a bit of a downer as we went 5-7, ending the season under .500. Well we have a better team this year, and we are confident that we can have the first winning season in North City’s history. With a better recruiting class and a great offseason we are stronger, faster and more confident going into 2014.

In the third year of North City University football, the program has an overall record of 11-13. This isn’t bad when you include the biggest win in program history against #5 Michigan at the Big House in 2011. This is a contract year, but Coach Mason is in good sitting and will definitely hold on to his job at the end of the season.

31-24
Player of Game: Rocky Felder 10 Catches, 210 yards, 3 TDs
Wrap-up:
1st play of the game is a sack and a fumble. Not a great start to the season. Also, it’s raining. Could this be an omen of things to come? UConn will score on their first play from scrimmage to take a quick 7-0 lead. We would go on down the field on a 16 play drive to only get 3 points. UConn and their rushing attack would prove to be troublesome as they ran the ball great all game; along with their dual threat QB. Our defense holds them to a field goal on their second drive. After an INT in the red zone, we would rebound in the second quarter to score our first touchdown of the 2014 season.
UConn scores another TD to close out the 1st half with a 17-10 lead. Turnovers for UConn at horrible times hurt them greatly in this game. We liked to think it was the New York rain that caught them off guard. And sacks. Mucho sacko. The Felder/Gatewood connection came up big today with 3 TDs and 210 receiving yards from 10 catches including the game winning TD in the 4th. UConn would threaten to tie the game up late in the 4th, but a 4th down INT by Nebrich in the end zone with 53 seconds left in the game was the clincher. Final score: 31-24.
This was a real grind out game. We had a moderate run game going, but the short passing game compensated like always for the lack of real running attack. We tried to use a new playbook, but after today I think we’ll stick with our normal “spread ‘em out and throw all over them” approach that has worked for us the past 2 seasons. This marks the third year in a row that we have defeated UConn. Great way to start a rivalry in my book.

Battle For New York

28-21
Player of the Game: Travis Revis 15 Carries, 106 yards, 4 KR 167 Yards 1 TD, 101 yard FR TD
Wrap-Up:
Starting the season out with both of our rivalry games could be a scheduling nightmare. But judging by the kickoff, we weren’t going to let it be a problem. We receive the kickoff, and then proceed to run it back. YES! Travis Rivas on the 98 yard return. Gatewood goes down with a scary looking injury on the second drive of the game, but the bark of the injury was worse than the bite. It was only a MCL sprain and he would miss the next 2 quarters.
This has to be, by far the worse game that we have played. After a quick 14-0 start, we would be held scoreless for the next 2 quarters. Syracuse would claw their way back into this game due to stalled drives and INTs from us. Our passing game was nonexistent to the point that we only scored 1 offensive touchdown. Travis Rivas singlehandedly put the team on his back in order for us to win this game. And the defense came up big in the clutch. After a missed field goal, Travis would return the missed kick for a 101-yard TD. Then on the next drive, C. Crawford would catch an interception and return that for 62 yards for a TD, which would turn out to be the game clinching TD. Final score: 28-21.
This is our first time beating Syracuse in the Battle For New York. It was an ugly game, but with good defense and special teams we escaped with the win. First 2-0 start in program history. Looking forward to next week’s game against Northwestern.

POTG: Leigh Gatewood 28-45 389 Yards, 4 TDs
Wrap-up:
We came into this game looking to keep up our short win streak. Northwestern is the heavy favorite in the game so the odds are stacked against us. But there is only one word for this game. DOMINATION. By us. We flat out came ready to play today. Defense held them only to one offensive touchdown. Offense was clicking on all cylinders. Solid rushing game for Rivas as this is now his second game in having over 100 yards rushing. Gatewood had an impressive game, with completing 28 out of 45 passes and throwing for 389 yards and 4 TDs. Defense had 4 sacks and 2 INTs. Final score: 41-20.
Overall, this was a great game played by us. To go 3-0 is a big milestone for the university. We’re halfway to a bowl game this early in the season. Next week we have Georgia Tech, which is definitely going to be a tough game for us.

Wrap-up:
The first game in a trio of ranked teams in the span of 4 weeks and we have them at home. It’s a tall order to expect a win, but we had a good chance at winning this game. We kept it competitive. Started the game off with a TD drive, only to give one right back to Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech definitely had the big plays today. The first half ended with a 21-21 tie, and coming out of halftime we felt that we could pull out this enormous upset.
Georgia Tech wasn’t down with that. Their defense stepped up and contained our high octane passing offense to our second lowest numbers this season. They also forced 3 INTs and shut us out of scoring the entire second half. And with their option offense they were able to take control of the game and clock in the second half. We put up a great effort, but in the end we couldn’t win. Final score: 31-21.

42-21
Player of the Game: Leigh Gatewood 31/54 407 yards, 6 TD
Wrap Up:
Another quick start to the game. We quickly go up by 14 to close out the first quarter. Defense shut down Illinois for the majority of the game, especially in the first half. Going into halftime we have a 21-0 lead thanks to a 13-yard TD pass from Gatewood to Chase Logan in the second quarter.
The biggest issue we had this game was the inability to deliver the deathblow. We started out the third quarter with a punt, and then Illinois proceeded to score on an 83-yard pass from O’Toole to Whitlow. The third quarter consisted of touchdown trading, as when ever they scored we answered back with a TD to keep the 21-point lead. But with each TD in the second half that Illinois scored it felt like momentum would swing in their favor, but even though we couldn’t deliver the killer blow, we definitely kept them at bay. Gatewood was errant with a lot of his throws today, which led to 3 INTs thrown by him but the defense was able to cover his mistakes and prevent Illinois from capitalizing on them. Final score: 42-21.
Next week we’re hosting #6 Michigan State. We’re hoping to have a sell out crowd for this game as we go for attempt number 2 to disrupt the BCS standings.

49-21
Player of the game: Leigh Gatewood 32-40, 477 yards, 5 TDs
Saturday Night Lights. This is our second nationally broadcasted game this season, and for an encore, we were not going to disappoint. After the kickoff to the Spartans, we forced them to punt. We had a rocky start on offense, after marching down the field, Gatewood would throw his only INT of the game, and it was returned for a 76-yard touchdown. Michigan State had a lead of 7-0. This would be their only lead of the game. We end the 1st quarter with a Chapman touchdown to tie the game at 7 points.
After the first quarter, the floodgates opened. During a Spartan drive, the freshman cornerback Griffin caught a pick and took it to the house. After another stop on defense, Gatewood throws another TD pass, this time to the tight end Cohen. At this point, the stadium is rocking. When we defeated Michigan 2 years ago, it was at the Big House, so the North City fans haven’t had a chance to experience an upset yet in the 3 year history of the school. To end the first half, Rocky Felder took a slant route 73 yards to pay dirt to take a lead of 28-7 to halftime.
Last week we had difficulties in digging the dagger in the heart of Illinois. Not this week though. To start the second half, we decided to open up the playbook and run a fake motion screen vert. Felder was wiiide open for an 87-yard TD pass. The chants of “Rocky, Rocky, Rocky” took over the stadium. MSU would take the dagger out by running the ensuing kickoff back to the house, but the damage was done. We end the third quarter with another Gatewood-to-Felder TD pass, this time for 30 yards.
The 4th quarter was all about driving the knife into MSU for a slow death. They would score their first offensive TD in the 4th, but on another trick play the TE Cohen gets a 6-yard TD rush. The final score: 49-21. The students rushed the field in a frenzy celebrating this monumental win for the program. No injuries were reported after the rushing of the field. North City travels to Arkansas next week in search of the 6th win and to become bowl eligible for the second time in 3 years.

Bend, but don’t break. That was the motto all throughout the game today as we were trying to reach win number 6 against a 2-2 Arkansas. The first quarter was a defensive display, as no one was really able to do much in the quarter, until we scored towards the end of the quarter. A missed field goal hurt Arkansas as it took away a bit of momentum they had.
Second quarter was a bit more exciting, with each of us trading field goals and touchdowns. Going into halftime Arkansas looked to have all the momentum, but with an INT in the end zone and good enough field position for a last second heave to the touchdown gave us some points and the lead going into halftime.
We opened up the third quarter with a touchdown run by Gatewood, which is greatly uncharacteristic of him. Arkansas would answer back though, and so began the bending but not breaking mentality for us. Even though we kept giving Arkansas a little bit of hope, we were just trying to kill the time by allowing them to go on long drives and hold them to field goals.
Arkansas would bring the game close in the 4th quarter with a TD, but we were able to score a clinching TD and again allow them to kill a lot of the clock. The final score of the game: 37-31. We’re still riding this wave of momentum from last week’s defeat of Michigan State, and we’re looking to bring that into our next game, which is against an undefeated Army team. This is the first of our back-to-back games with 2 of the Service Academies. Now being bowl eligible, we’re looking to play our way into a bowl game this year and with a favorable end of the season, it is looking pretty good. Sitting with a 6-1 record and a defeat of a top 10 school, talks around the media and coaches have North City right on the outskirts of cracking into the top 25 Polls.

Wrap Up:
Confidence is building for North City. Coming into this game with a 3 game winning streak, they looked to extend the streak against a good Army team who were 6-1. Well, needless to say this game wasn’t as close as it appeared to be on paper. North City, who had faced an offense similar to Army’s a few weeks ago against Georgia Tech, were more prepared for Army’s version of the option. NCU contained Army to only 3 points, as they scored 41 points on Army’s defense.
North City moves on to 7-1 as they solidified a bowl bid, which will be their first one in school history. They look to build on this success and take their win streak back home as they defend their home field versus Navy in 2 weeks.

The Stars continue their winning ways as they defeated the Navy Midshipmen 28-7. In a blustering snowstorm, North City was able to contain the option offense of Navy and do just enough on offense to score. Leigh had a good game as he threw for 2 TDs and also scrambled in for a TD. With the win their win streak goes to 5 games and they now have a record of 8-1.
In this late season stretch, Coach Mason said that it was critical that they continue to win. In previous years they slowed down around this time in what he liked to call the “winter blues”. Next week they face the Miami University Redhawks.

Miami U stood no chance against the tough defense of North City. This is the third opponent that they have held to no more than 7 points as their defense has really stepped up these last few weeks.
The offense was on fire as usual, and the combined power of their offense and defense led North City to the 38-7 victory. Rivas had a big game, rushing for 129 yards and 2 TDs on only 11 carries. Next week is Senior Night as they play the Western Michigan Broncos. This is also the first week in school history that they have broken into the top 25.

In the final game of this dream season for North City, they faced off against the 10th ranked Arkansas State Red Wolves. After a quick 2 turnovers by Arkansas State, they found themselves down 10-0, and going into halftime they were trailing 17-0.
After a safety it was 19-0 and it was looking to be another blowout by North City. Arkansas State was able to make it a very entertaining 4th quarter after a few 3 and out stops and scoring to make it 19-7. North City would score a field goal and go up 22-7, but the Red Wolves would score immediately and make it a 22-15 game after a successful 2 point conversion. Arkansas State would get North City into a crucial 3rd and 5 but the aggressive nature of Coach Mason would strike success for the Stars as they scored on a 45 yard pass from Gatewood to Logan. The Red Wolves would score again with :12 left in the game, but after an unsuccessful onside kick North City would kneel down to win the game. Final score: 29-22.
North City has extended their win streak to 8 games as they await their bowl game placement after a very unexpected 11-1 season.

Painful Setback
Disappointment. That’s the look that Coach Mason had on his face for the majority of the game. North City was the clear favorites, coming into this game with the #1 defense in the nation. But they also were bringing in a ton of inexperience as this was the first bowl game all of these kids, and their coach, has been in. Colorado dominated this game with their effective balanced attack of run and pass. Their effectiveness on third down and keeping a tired defense on the field for an extended amount of time was detrimental to their success. Along with keeping their offense on the field, they kept North City’s offense off the field.
Turnovers also played a key role in this game, as North City threw 3 interceptions and lost a fumble. The turnovers for North City happened deep into drives, which seemed to just take the life out of the team when they occurred. The 4th quarter was where North City attempted a comeback, but it was too little, too late. The final score Colorado 31, North City 24.

With the academics of North City being on an Ivy League school level, rumors of some the bigger conferences such as the :Big_Ten: and :ACC: were among some of the unnamed conferences talking to North City floated on the rumor mill. Athletic Director Darius Byrd shut down all the rumors by saying that North City University would remain independent for the foreseeable future. The Notre Dame program has grown an attachment to North City, so perhaps in the next few years a package deal for :Notre_Dame: and North City could be placed on the table by a few of the big conferences. Only time will tell what will happen in the ever-changing college football universe.

Well it's been a while since I've updated this, but I kept playing this dynasty. In short, I was able to build up this school to be effing great. To the point that I forced myself to leave and go to Texas Tech. But I still kept up with the Stars cause I knew I would use them in 14. I have some tables that I made that helped me keep track of them.
