13: Season 1 Preseason

No, we haven't officially started yet but I'm hoping that we'll be seeing rosters sometime tomorrow. If that's the case, I'll create the OD and send out invites tomorrow afternoon. If they're not ready by then, then I'll either have someone set it up for me or we'll wait until I get back into town on Sunday. Either way, we'll be starting Week 1 no later than 7pm CT on Tuesday (7/17).

For now, the plan is to go with 3 conferences... we'll see how well that goes and then go from there. However, this is the last chance to voice any opinions on 3 conferences vs 2 conferences... speak now or for one season hold your peace.



Also, use this thread to make any schedule requests. Obviously you won't know exactly what you'll be working with until the OD is created, but particularly, if you want specific UvU games, request them here.


Finally, for anyone that doesn't pay attention to the yearly news, there are several big new items revolving around dynasty. The biggest in terms of preseason will be setting up your roster and scouting your players. During the preseason, you'll have 20 hours to scout players. Using this time, you can uncover the true values of recruit ratings. Players can fluctuate quite a bit from their predicted OVR, jumping as many as 15-20 points or dropping as many as 10-15 points. I would highly recommend everyone start at least a test dynasty to get a little bit of a feel for it before using your time during the preseason... preseason scouting will likely be your most valuable time since you only get 3 hours of scouting during the season.

Everyone should create a new coach for purposes of the OD. We'll advance to Week 1 no later than Tuesday night but sooner if I get the sliders & schedules completed. Everyone should have ample time to do their preseason stuff through this weekend.

I had to tweak the custom conferences of course and when setting them up, I made sure that CPU competition in the conferences were similar. Each conference should have 1-2 teams in the low 80s and the rest in the 70s I believe.

You are not a part of an Online Dynasty.

In order to access Online Dynasty web features, you must first join or create an Online Dynasty in NCAA Football 13 from your console, and your coach must have a contract with a team.

Yeah, it doesn't completely change recruiting, but it definitely impacts it a lot. Like I said before, I definitely recommend to everyone to create an offline OD to test out the scouting, recruiting, etc. That or you'll end up shooting yourself in the foot during your first season.

No kidding. That is what I am doing right now. Luckily New Mexico doesn't have that many needs this first year or I might cause a trainwreck for the program that we can't overcome.

Guys... in Powerhouse OD, we ran into some issues with guys experiencing freezing during scouting. If you run into that issue, make sure you post here. My recommendation is to add your targets to your scouting board, then back out to the main OD menu so that they save. Then go back into your target list and begin scouting. Not sure that this will prevent any freezing but it's worth a shot.

Additionally, you could do all of your scouting from the web... that theoretically should eliminate any freezing that is being experienced on the console-side.

My fiance just found us a part time job to help pay for wedding stuff & that's going to take up a lot of my free time and I don't think I'll be able keep up. Also, after finally getting a chance to sit down and play several games vs the CPU yesterday, I really don't know how long I will be able to stay interested in this year's game. Some of the issues have gotten so old for me that I really don't enjoy playing it all that much right now. Hopefully some of that changes with some patch work. Sorry if I caused any problems, hopefully one of the wait list guys is able to step right in.

For schedules, I followed any requests I could and for anyone with 5 UvU games, you get 6 home games and those with 4 UvUs, get 5 home games. Everyone should have a week 1 game and for the most part, I tried to make them somewhat of a breather game to start the season, though wasn't able to in all cases.
