PLEASE, flesh this out more next year. Add position coaches, add more options in the carousel, refine the feature and mentality of coaches (head coaches leaving willingly for OC jobs and other issues pointed out in other threads).

This is just a basic request right now, I'll have to go find some of the old comments in '12 threads about specifics.

Contract extensions should be the first thing taken care of. It's silly that a coach can have a winning record and leaves because his contract expired and he was taken out of the coaches pool before his school's turn in the carousel comes up.

You should be allowed to quit jobs as well

You should be allowed to quit jobs as wellCan't you accept any offer, regardless of your current contract, if you so choose?

You should be able to apply for jobs

you already can. if you decline a job extension, you have to reapply for any job who hasnt made contact with you.

coaches should have a position familiarity. i do not think we need individual position coaches, in which we'd have to hire a full coaching staff. reason being, is that i feel dynasty would become FAR easier down the line, as you'd essentially be able to hire the best coach year after year. only having 3 coaches is like a "pick your poison" type of thing. you would get the benefit of one area but not in others.

positions familiarities: o-line, qb, wr, rb, d-line, lb's, db's, strength/conditioning

the position group familiarity would be tied into the progression of the team (greater progression at the position group) and would affect how your players play. for example: a defensive coordinator, who's familiarity are the defensive backs, would see the greatest progression in your defensive backs, medium progression in your linebackers, and minimal progression in the d-line. defensive backs would primarily see increases in man/zone coverage ratings, press rating, awareness, play recognition, pursuit, tackling.

a DC, who was formerly a LB coach, would see the greatest progression in LB's with maybe. d-line and db's dont progress as much. LB's would primarily progress in tackling, pursuit, play recognition, awareness, block shredding, hit power, zone coverage.

d-line coaches would see greatest progression in the d-line, medium progression in LB's, and minimal progression from the defensive backs. d-linemen would progress mostly in power/finesse moves, block shedding, play recognition, tackle, hit power, strength.

strength/conditioning coaches would minimally affect position specific ratings. you'd see the greatest strides made in strength, stamina, speed, acceleration, agility, injury, jumping.

o-line coaches would primarily affect o-linemen and to a slightly lesser degree, tight ends. run/pass blocking ratings, strength, and awareness are gonna be heavily focused on. offensive skill positions would receive minimal progression. fullbacks and rb's could also benefit from o-line coaches, but only in their blocking ratings.

qb coaches would see tremendous boosts in qb's. this would have the most effect in the game if the additional qb ratings were brought over. practically every other position progresses minimally.

rb coaches will progress rb's and fullbacks faster, but their benefit will also extend to wr's as they can also be deemed ball carriers. spin move, juke move, stiff arm, carrying, elusiveness, trucking, and break tackle ratings will see the most progression. (ball carrier vision is a supersim only rating...has no affect on gameplay). greatest progression = rb's/fb's. medium progression seen in wr's. minimal progression in the o-line/qb's/te's.

wr coaches obviously will progress wr's the most, but their benefit also stretches to te's and rb's in their pass catching skills. catching, spectacular catch, catch in traffic, route running, awareness, and release are progressed the most. minimal progression is seen in the o-line and qb; medium progression is seen in rb's/te's.

as i said, this is a "pick your poison" type of scenario (assuming we can hire/fire our coordinators as a HC). the ratings listed for each position are just the ratings that would receive the most progression. you'd get lesser progressions in the other ratings of your players. it'd also give us some control over something that we currently have no control over in the game (player progression), and would help us coach/develop our dynasty teams in the way that we want them to play......kind of like establishing an identity.

just kind of throwing an idea out there, but i think there should be another variable in determining if a coach is fired, lets his contract expire, or gets an extension. just having the contract goals, isnt enough. so thats why i'd like to see grades being given out on a game by game, and year by year basis.

if you're a coordinator, you could be graded on how successful you were in each game by the other coordinator and HC. too many poor grades could lead to decreased job security and the possibility of getting fired, whereas a lot of good grades can build job security and getting an extension. if you're the HC, your coordinators would grade you based on how well you played, and again, too many poor grades could lead to your dismissal or even, the coordinator leaving (you possibly running conflicting scheme ie: HC calling running pro style offense with air raid OC).
