 My Wife and I recently read the series. It's a good story. When she suggested reading it I thought it was going to be another Twilight, which was terrible, but I really liked the Hunger Games series.

I'm going to judge you because that cunt of an author is too busy thinking she's a fuckin' real author when she stole her idea from the movie Battle Royale, which is based on a Japanese book series, yet, she REFUSES to acknowledge the movie and Japanese book were her inspiration like the fuckin' cunt hack that she is.

I was actually surprised at how little teenage drama was in it. The drama is more based off of having to kill people, don't get me wrong though, there is definitely some teenage drama mixed in there.

What are these things called books?
For me they come in the form of a CD, MP3, or WMA from the library. I should have made the title: "What book are you currently reading or "reading"? I have a one hour commute everyday. So nearly all of my recreational "reading" comes in the form of an audio book. I can blow through a lot of books by being on the road 10+ hours every week.

I'm currently reading The Pentagon: A History.

http://militaryengineers.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/pentagoncover.jpg

It might seem long or wordy at 656 pages, but it is an incredibly interesting read from beginning to end. I already read through it once when I impulse bought it from the local book store two years ago. Currently on the third chapter of my second read through.

After that, I'm looking at buying Hitler's U-Boat War.

https://encrypted-tbn1.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRA5W-eI2oQMxiQW3BEoMRzXAPoeKxavbue6w-lzhyelY8Ptt5tRg

I started reading it my senior year, but never got to finish it as I graduated before I could finish and had to return it to the school library.

Then moving on to Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series. I've read only a couple of the books from the actual series, and never in order, so I'm gonna read all of the Ryanverse books in chronological order this time, starting with Without Remorse.

https://encrypted-tbn3.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQhlhhhXJPevplFmX5163dGHLHrwMG3C uKd_6JT8ge3jdKK034bew

It is an old book, published in 1997 and covered the 1995 seasons for Army and Navy as well as the Army-Navy game, but it was still an incredible sight into the lives of the Army and Navy football teams back in the mid-90s, between practices, classes, academy life. One of the top books I've ever read.

Book 3. I'm now entering into unknown territory. The first two books were just a re-telling of what I'd already seen on HBO, with a few differences here and there. A Storm of Swords now has my full attention, because I have no idea what's going to happen next.

So, back in early December, I was sitting there at work for hours on end in studio running board for one of our winter campaigns, when I randomly pulled up the local library on the internet. After running down to get a new library card (it had been years and the card I had in my wallet had been phased out and replaced with new cards years ago), I've been reading more books lately. Started with an old Tom Clancy book, SSN, basically a novelization of an old PC game of the same name form the 90s.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/44/SSN_cover.jpg/200px-SSN_cover.jpg

I then moved on to the novelization of the movie Act of Valor.

http://www.tomclancy.com/images/act_of_valor_tom_clancy_lg.jpg

Now I'm currently 100 pages into No Easy Day by Mark Owen, the SEAL Team Six guy who was on the mission that killed Bin Laden.

http://www.washingtonian.com/blogs/capitalcomment/images/2012-09-04-no-easy-day.jpg

Once I'm done with No Easy Day, I'm moving onto The Outpost by Jake Tapper, that is about the battle of Combat Outpost Keating in Afghanistan, which one of the soldiers, still living, Clinton Romesha, is going to receive the Medal of Honor next month.

http://www.hachettebookgroup.com/_b2c/media/cache/03/32/0332196da5a47c0a2fc490faf677fa99.jpg

After that, not sure where I'll go from there. No Easy Day will last me probably another week, as I get the chance to sit down and read it only a couple times a day. Then with The Outpost being close to 700 pages long, that should last me a little bit as I make my way through it.

Well Jeff I finished the Winter King in a matter of four days and you are correct it was pretty good, I kinda hated when he would go back to talking as the old man, not because it wasn't relevant but because it was always fucking up the pacing, nothing too bad though, definitely a good read and good recommendation.
Already half way through book two, seems to be more interesting than the first.

Just started reading a really good book last Friday, titled Panzer Battles: A Study of the Employment of Armor in the Second World War by Major General F.W. von Mellenthin, Chief of Staff of the 4th German Panzer Army.

http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/ciu/2d/df/fc11c6da8da0d68f7d811110.L.jpg

If you're interested in armor and the battles that they were involved in during World War II, this is a good read. So far I'm through the invasion of Poland, the invasion of France and a couple pages short of finishing the Invasion of Greece and the Balkans campaign. Then it's on to part two and the North Africa campaign. Unlike other WWII books, this book doesn't cover so much of the major battles, but instead talks about the various operations the German armor divisions took part in (hence a good sized chapter on Greece and entire parts dedicated to North Africa and the Russian front).

After I eventually get done with this book, I plan on moving onto Infantry Attacks by Rommel.

I've read quite a few Christian books over the last few years just to educate myself more. I've switched gears to fiction and largely the fantasy world and have really enjoyed some books.

I LOVED the Kingkiller Chronicles - The Name of the Wind and A Wise Man's Fear. The third book in the trilogy won't be out until 2015 probably. Who knows. It's a coming of age story. It doesn't have a bunch of hobbits and trolls running around but does have a cool magic system.

Currently reading the Lions of Al-Rassan. It's not really fantasy - no magic and everyone is human. It's historical fiction loosely based on Muslim-Jewish fighting in the 1500s. More of a Middle Eastern Game of Thrones in some ways. Just one book (over 600 pages).

Ordered the Game of Thrones series. I've really gotten into the HBO show and figured I'll start reading the books to fill in the gaps. After that maybe I'll try the Cromwell books but this series should take me awhile.

Alright, so gonna change it up. After spending 665 pages reading about tank and infantry battles in Africa, Russia and the western front, instead of reading Infantry Attacks by Rommel, I'm gonna instead move onto the water and start up the 2 book series of Hitler's U-Boat War.

Starting with book one, The Hunters

And when eventually done with that, will move onto book two, The Hunted

864 pages in book one, 944 pages in book two. Should keep me occupied for a while. It may end up cutting into my time for the first month or two on NCAA '14 since I'll be busy reading the books within the time period I'm given to have them checked out of the local library.

Yes I am a philosophy nerd :D
Not a text I would recommend as an intro to epistemology at all :D

I completely forgot about this thread. I've since finished the Hitler's U-Boat War books, finishing book two back in mid-October.

I've since been plowing my way through Tom Clancy's books, reading through them in chronological order as they happen in the books. Thus far, since mid-October, I've read Without Remorse, Patriot Games, Red Rabbit and the Hunt for Red October. I'm currently halfway through The Cardinal of the Kremlin. I'm hoping to be done with Cardinal of the Kremlin by maybe next weekend and be moved onto Clear and Present Danger.

All I know is that I'll be busy for a long while with the Tom Clancy books. Since mid-October I've made my way through 4 books and halfway through a fifth. After Cardinal of the Kremlin, I still have 11 more books (including the new one that just released three weeks ago) to get through before I reach the end of the Jack Ryan series. Well, that is, the end if Tom Clancy never set something up with someone to keep ghost writing the series even after his death.

Pretty good series, I read the first 5 books before I just stopped.

Alright, so my time estimate was way off. I ended up with more time to read than I planned on and covered the last 200 pages of The Cardinal of the Kremlin since 3pm Friday, finishing up around 1am this morning. I've already moved on to Clear and Present Danger, currently reading it online via the Ohio Library system having digital copies, until I can get the physical book from the local library probably tomorrow afternoon.

Reading the Twinborn trilogy. I just startd the final book and it's been very good. Classic fantasy with a twist. The twist is some people are twins (rare) where there dreams are really events of another person in another world. It's been fun.
