Use this thread to discuss trying to find the game early. Do not post any store specifics in this thread... if someone is in the same area as you, we recommend sending PMs between members to discuss specifics. As well, anyone who claims to have the game early should be prepared to post a picture of the game in hand.

This year I have Season Ticket so I'll be able to play on the 6th. I also pre-ordered from Amazon for $45.00 but if I hear or find anything this year I'll be sure to let folks know here. I may be interested as well depending on when and price :D

Yeah I used to do this back in the school days (college - law school). Now too much going on in my life to try to go around looking for a dumb employee to let the game out early. Although there is a mom and pop video game store near my office I might stop by and check it out just in case but with Season Ticket I doubt I'll look for the game beyond there.

For the past few years I've had more success online then anywhere else. I know I could get the game on Saturday before release, but like you I have season ticket and already have the game pre-ordered so unless I can find something much earlier I'll probably just pass on looking hard this year.

One year (NCAA05 I think) I got it about a week early from a retailer but since then I've never had any luck. The one year that I did have a connection from a friend of a friend deal (NCAA10 I think), they were shipping it from Arizona. They ended up shipping me the 360 version instead of the PS3 version :fp:

I think Season Ticket will make this a less exhausted race to try to find it early. That combined with retailers being smarter these days, I doubt very many get it early... maybe just from the Columbus, OH connection.

psusnoop
06-21-2012, 10:35 AM
Yeah that is a solid connection there. The guy I've gotten from the last two years (last year was a surprise invoice from him once I realized it was the same guy) will probably have them on Friday afternoon. But I think I dropped $100.00 bones last year and certainly will not be doing that again.

Yea EA really has helped its cause with the Season Ticket in my opinion. I just wish I could play online with people that have the actual game in hand (like our community day members).

Ditto as well. However, if you live in Utah feel free to PM me. I have a connection and have had the game early each of the last two or three years. I'm confident I can get it early again this year - although my Amazon order + season ticket means I won't need it early this time around.

You may want to check your order again. I was able to get release-day delivery shipping for only $0.99 cents. I live in Utah, but a buddy of mine in Colorado got the same offer. Don't wait two days to get the game if they'll ship it to you on release day for just a dollar!

Season Ticket has made me even looking at my one and only spot not even worth it. I can play it on Friday when I get home at the latest Saturday Morning, thats all I need to tie me over until Tuesday. The Weekends is where I get most of my playtime anyway.

Yeah, I don't do this anymore. I did it one or two time, getting NCAA 08 on the original Xbox I think (either that or PS2) from a little place in Bowling Green, OH. But, driving 45 miles one-way and spending two hours in the car round trip just wasn't worth it. It was sort of fun and felt sort of sweet to have a game in my hands no one else around me did, but then I made the mistake of posting that I had gotten it early (this was all back on the other site), then spent half the weekend answering questions for people. Ultimately, between the two hours driving, and the gas used up driving to BG and back on a Friday afternoon, just wasn't worth it in the long run. I had tried for NCAA 06 and 07, scored on 08, and I've never tried since then.

As for this year and the future, I have absolutely 0 interesting whatsoever in even trying. With Season Ticket, I'll be guaranteed playing the game by Friday afternoon without even so much as having to step foot outside my door, and with Amazon Prime, I pre-ordered on Amazon for $45 with free release day shipping, so it will be here on Tuesday either by 1pm or 4pm (depending on whether UPS puts my package on the early afternoon route or the evening route). The whole "hunt for the game" thing is now just a complete waste of time with the advent of Season Ticket.

Oh hell, I loved Season Ticket when it was announced. I tried to hold off on buying it until last October so I could get Tiger Woods, NCAA, Madden, NHL and FIFA all in one single subscription this year, but I broke down and bought it in mid-September so I could play FIFA. You get three days (technically three and a half to four days depending on when you download it on Friday) to play the ENTIRE game to your heart's content before having to actually buy the retail game.

Completely makes hunting for the game obsolete, you get to fully enjoy the game an extra 3-4 days for the life cycle of the game, you get to play it early when the non-season ticket people sit there begging for details on forums from those with the game. And it was what, $25? $25 to let you play a game 3+ days early and help you decide if you even want to buy it, potentially saving you from spending $60 on a game you would either not play at all or trade off in a month or two. Take Tiger Woods 13. TW13 overall was still a great game, but I didn't care for the changes they made to the swing and putt meters, so I didn't buy it this year. Saved myself $60 on a game I probably wouldn't have played very much (while still playing TW12 semi-regularly).

If you are getting it just to play NCAA Early then I can see your point though I don't see your point if you aren't going to get the game anyway so its pretty irrelevant to you right?

To use Smooth example its alot cheaper than driving 45 min one way to get it.

Actually I bought it to download Madden last year and Tiger This year (Games I am always on the fence about) even though I forgot I had the damn thing so I pretty much gave them 25.00 or if you want to look at it your way I got it only for NCAA which is the way it worked out. LOL

Well said. I have to renew my subscription before Madden 13 but it's totally worth the money as you can try out a FULL version of the game to see if you like it. I passed on NHL 12 but was completely pulled into FIFA 12. Anyone who LOVES sports games should get the pass.

I'll be busy for the entire weekend before release, plus a few days after. So, much like the last two years, the timing of the game's release is really not conducive to me playing the game :D

Yep. Being able to download and play the FULL version of the game on Friday before release, screw the "hunt". No more wasting time hunting down rumors and "sources" that others post on here, no more wasting hours and gallons of gas driving someplace just in the hope that once you actually get there, that they'll have the game and will actually be willing to sell it to you. Screw that. As long as Season Ticket is around, there will no longer be any such thing as "the hunt" to me. It's gonna be "time to download NCAA from Season Ticket and enjoy playing it all weekend long while waiting for UPS to drop my retail copy off on Tuesday afternoon".

I did the same thing with my old games, but for 360. To me, it is well worth the money. I get to try out all the sports games on the list about 4 days early to help me decide if I want to buy them. Plus, I get a 20% discount on all the DLC, special web content, and I get to play NCAA early. I'd say it's a great deal. Now, if it was solely just for playing NCAA early, it probably wouldn't be.

You can forget finding the game early if you live in the South. In all the years I have tried finding it early, I never once even came close. There's no Mom and Pop stores around, just Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, K-Mart, Toys R US, etc.

I believe others have mentioned that on Madden it was around 7GB for Xbox 360. On the PS3 side it might be a little larger since they don't do as much compression.

I wish I had season pass this year because I likely would not have bought NCAA 13 in that case. I could have chalked the fee up to allowing me to essentially rent the game with the option to buy. I'm pretty seriously considering doing this for Madden because that game hasn't appealed to me in a long time but I am intrigued by some of the new features this year. In addition, I'll get to try FIFA out as well which I have enjoyed in the past.

I'm in the same boat. Plus I want to buy NHL 13 and FIFA 13 this year (last games I owned in each were NHL 11 and FIFA 10), so Season Ticket will be the perfect opportunity to get re-accustomed to the games while waiting for UPS to drop them off in September. It already paid itself off with Tiger Woods. I didn't like some of the changes in TW13, waited until Season Ticket to give the full game a chance, and ultimately decided to pass, saving myself $60. Unless I get blown away on Madden, it'll be another $60 saved on that, with those $120 saved going towards NHL and FIFA later this year.

It doesn't really take much to have a midnight release party. I had a neighborhood GameStop do a midnight release MW3 party. They apparently ordered pizza/food for the guys that came. Tried to get me to come but I had no way to get there :( .

But I guess midnight release events aren't like they used to be. I don't know about NCAA, but it was a point in time where you HAD to reserve Madden at your local GameStop/whatever. Dudes used to stand in line for it lol.

It was nice, everyone else got their earlier and was leaving as I walked in and straight to the counter. After picking up my game I picked up a free chicken finger was home by 12:17. :) My FIGHTIN' TEXAS AGGIES are going to look interesting running this AIR RAID with Sumlin.

More good news, received the email to sign up again to be an Usher at Kyle Field so I can watch my FIGHTIN' TEXAS AGGIES take on the SEC.

I had to drive one hour to go get mine at a GameStop at a midnight release party. It was pretty cool. Had a NCAA Football Tournment and whoever won got a free copy. I didn't play in it though; I showed up to late. Anyways it was cool around 30 people there.
