It's a prequel to all the other games, but still after he killed his wife and kid. According to Santa Monica, it's Kratos but not quite as mad. :D

I've tried the online, but meh. Out of all the games, I'd say God of War is the absolutely last one that needed co-op or competitive online. It doesn't really feel tacked on, but I can't see people playing it for an extended period of time. However, the game play and combos are much tighter this time around, so I'm salivating waiting to get my hands on the single player.

Anyone played this bad boy yet? I decided against pre-ordering b/c of The Show; Tomb Raider; Sim City.

Nope. This pains me to say it being the big God of War fan that I am, but I was severely put off by the demo. The combat felt tedious to me, and the area of the game they showed off just felt really uninspired. I actually yawned through most of it. I decided to wait for the reviews and they've pretty much mirrored the same thoughts I had throughout the demo, so I'll just wait until it goes on sale.

Much like Gears of War Judgment, this wasn't needed. It was nothing more than a schedule filler ordered up by Sony.

Got around to beating this. Thankfully the part of the demo I was talking about earlier was just the beginning and the game play gets MUCH better after that. Took about 8 hours or so, which is about what all the other ones took me. Aside from the super annoying puzzles, it's right up with God of War III as the best in the series, IMO. It also easily has the best boss fights. How this only got around 8 on reviews is baffling to me. If Ascension is an 8, then most other games are a 4.

I played a few games in between classes and it's actually a lot better than the beta. It kind of surprised me, but I actually had some fun online. It's nice to just play a game and go for the objective rather than dealing with retards worried about their kill/death ratio like in shooters. It's got a full fledged ranking system(with prestiges), a bunch of customization and unlocks, and it's really smooth online. Color me impressed...they made a LOT of changes over the beta.

I don't think it'll hold the attention of the online crowd for too long, but it's definitely a fun little change up from the regular online formula.

I still have to slap myself every time I say God of War and online in the same sentence. :D

In the case of God of War, most of it is due to Sony's usual shit marketing effort. In the case of Judgment, it's just people being wise to the bullshit cash grab that Epic was trying to pull. As soon as they announced the removal of Horde and the removal of DBNO, they slit their own throats.

Picked this up this week and beat it this morning. I think it took 9 hours or thereabouts. While I liked the gameplay, the boss fights are amazing!, the story wasn't as intriguing as the others. Mostly because you already knew what happened since this was a prequel the series.

All in all, if you like the GOW series, you'll enjoy this one, especially for its gameplay and frustrating puzzles..ha-ha..., just don't expect the story to pull you in as past installments did.

I see they apparently finally fixed the hugely annoying audio issues, so I guess I'll start my Hard play through now. Considering how cheap I thought Normal mode was, I'm certainly not looking forward to this. I still don't understand why they changed the parry system, because it was certainly not for the better of the game. It was fine in all the other games, and now it's pretty much completely useless.

I agree on the story, though. Lame effort, IMO. It was made better by the boss fights, which were probably the best in the series, but still...the story is usually one of the stronger aspects of God of War and the spectacular atmosphere just wasn't there.

I'm really hoping they go full sequel next time around and perhaps introduce new Gods to the equation. The Greek Gods have run their course and I really don't like the furies.
