Bethesda's stealth-action game Dishonored is on track to become the company's next franchise. Public relations manager Pete Hines told Destructoid that the game is selling beyond internal expectations, making future installments likely.

"I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter," Hines said. "We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas. So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and [developer Arkane Studios]. We clearly have a new franchise."

Dishonored launched in October and was the United States' fourth-best selling game of the month. It was also the only non-sequel to make the top-ten chart during the month. The game's first expansion--Dunwall City Trials--is due out October 11 for $5.

I'm still in the middle of the game but I enjoyed the first few levels much more than I am now. I think part of it is that the awareness becomes ramped up but as well, they encourage you to be completely stealthy yet it's not really possible everywhere, especially when they dangle an easy kill right in front of you.

First person stealth games just aren't as fun as they could be. Personally, I hate stealth games in general (the perpetual bullshit of failing once and having to do everything over again to achieve true stealth is annoying as fuck), and I HATE the art style of this game (which makes sense because the art style for Bioshock was atrocious as well).

More DLC on the way (http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/25/dishonored-other-side-of-the-coin-dlc-trophies-emerge/):

Trophies for unannounced Dishonored DLC, titled 'The Other Side of the Coin,' were tossed up onto PS3Trophies today. There are ten trophies in total, the same as for the game's first DLC, 'Dunwall City Trials,' suggesting a similar $5/400 MSP price tag for the new content.

While Dunwall City Trials is a collection of challenge maps, this new DLC apparently offers a story-based campaign, with rewards for completing it in various ways. When approached about the trophy listing, a spokesperson for publisher Bethesda told us, "No comment."
