As we previously reported, Monday, April 2nd, the first details of NCAA Football 13 will be posted by EA SPORTS on their website. Today on the NCAA Football series' Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/easportsncaafootball), we learned that they'll actually be delivering that information via webcast on their site (http://www.ea.com/ncaa-football/1/webcast). The webcast will begin at 2pm ET and is expected to last for an hour. No other details are available at this time but we'll be sure to update you as we learn anything further. As well, after that webcast, those of us who were able to attend some of the community events will be able to share whatever details we can regarding the discussed changes for Sights and Sounds. What is your biggest priority for sights and sounds in NCAA 13?

As far as sights go, I'd like to see the new stadiums for Florida Atlantic and North Texas. Both opened last year and w/ the technology today, it shouldn't take 3 years to get a stadium in the game. Would also like to see accurate stadium's for all the new FBS/BCS/Div I teams.
:FAU: and :North_Texas: have great looking stadiums too.

I agree with you here, sir. I am not sure if my university (University of South Alabama) will be officially joining this year, but I do know they will start conference play this year, and will be playing teams such as Hawaii and Mississippi State. With that being said, I would like to see all new teams introduced properly, along with new stadiums and stadium updates. As far as sounds go, I would like to see crowd noise improved properly for certain events that takes place on the field, such as touchdowns, big plays, huge defensive stops, etc. It would also be nice to hear crowds get quieter for home teams if an away team makes a big play. Last year, I remember them vividly saying that they improved sound, and even went to games to record noises from the crowds to enhance the sound, but to me it still did not change significantly enough to have an impact. On afinal note, I would love to hear more, louder team chants, and enhanced band music as well.

I like the game for what its worth.
but yeah, all this stuff about crowd noise and diving catches and what not ? not really noticed.,never happened
the game does have some visual strong points..heck,team builder lets me paint my own environment to a small degree !
but.
I did notice something I never saw till yesterday, ..I was playing the AI in a online dynasty game and beating them heavily..the gametrack just showed the opposing teams coach shaking his head and being angry at his players for quite a few seconds, and the announcers didnt say a word..it was pretty funny

Yes, South Alabama will be in the Sun Belt... here's a rundown of the new teams {4 total} bringing the FBS to 124. EA damn sure better have these teams and their stadiums in the game. There will be one in the MAC, two in the WAC and one in the Sun Belt.

Actually South Alabama will only be in the Sun Belt on a probationary basis. It's the same as when Western Kentucky moved up a few years ago... They'll play a FBS schedule but won't be eligible for conference title nor bowl games.
Not sure on the other teams but I imagine most will be in the same situation. If that's the case, don't look for them to be in the game this year as they didn't add WKU until they were a full-fledged member.
South Alabama will be a full-fledged team in 2013.

I know this is just a wild pipe dream, but if that's the case, then EA should do something w/ Teambuilder and allow us to add these 4 teams once we play through the first season. I think it's safe to say that most people that purchase the game do so w/ a dynasty in mind; be it a solo dynasty or an on-line dynasty. We shouldn't have to wait until next year to properly implement the additional 4 new teams.
It's like I've said before - EA calls the game a year ahead; in this case it will be NCAA '13 though it comes out in July of 2012, yet we are always a year - or more - behind, in terms of uniforms, stadiums and from the sound of your post, teams as well.
And again, as I stated prior, w/ the technology available today, this is simply inexcusable. IMHO.

This is a correct statement. We are playing our normal, full schedule, but we are still in our final year of inauguration. Therefore, we are unable to contend for any bowls or championships. As you said, I would assume this would stand true for the other teams as well. However, USC was on a probation, and they were still I'm the game, so I feel like the 4 new teams could be added without any problems. I know it's different circumstances, but it sure would be nice to have some new faces added to the gridiron in this years NCAA. I think they probably would have already mentioned them being in if they were going to be, though. Who knows, maybe they will add them.

probationary probably isnt the right word. conditional is probably better, they didnt commit any violations.

I know they didn't , I attend the University of South Alabama.... I stated that they are still in an inaugurational period. I referred to USC because they were inelligible to go to bowls or compete for championships, just like South. Like I said, I know that the two are not 100% comparable since USC has been in the FBS for a while, but as far as being inelligible, that part overlaps. That is what I was pointing out. Oh, and the fact that South is also playing a full schedule, but again, under inauguration period. Next year, they will be eligible for all bowls and championships. If they are invited, of course.
On another note, would commentary be listed more under that atmosphere area, or could it be considered "sounds"?

-I want to notice home AND away crowd in this year's game. The game in general needs to respond better to plays on the field, but that includes having the away fans screaming their small little heads off when their team makes a play too. Appropriately to size of course! In addition, I really want to see a difference in crowd reaction!!!!!! A lot of times when a big play is made in the game the crowd stands up and then kinda half sits down again and does their wimpy clapping. I want to see people jumping (AT DIFFERENT TIMES, I'M GETTING SICK OF THE SYNCRO-JUMP), arms flailing, crowd going wild atmosphere for the big stadiums. For the smaller crowds of course the usual will suffice.
-I also want to see a different interface! One that doesn't take 5 million minutes to load. And then the only other thing is upgraded field sidelines.
-I know this won't happen but I would like to see sideline people that are more than digified and more in tune with the play on the field. Would really help atmosphere imo.
Can't wait to read the breakdown of this after I get off tomorrow.

I'd like to really tell the difference in the loudness of crowds based on attendance, loyalty of the fan base & how crowds sound based on the construction of stadiums. in addition, the neutral site crowds need to be more balanced as well. as far as sights go, this is a pipe dream, but sideline interactions would be nice. aside from the cut-scenes, the turf looked pretty bad, I can't lie. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the NCAA & amateurism, but I'd like the crowds to actually have jerseys on besides in cut-scenes, and logos. Right now, just looks like some random outfits that nobody would wear to a game.

Just a couple FYIs for today.
Any presentation aspects that are tied to features to be discussed in the future will not be discussed today. For example, if there's some presentation aspect tied to Road to Glory, they'll cover it when they cover the rest of the RtG aspects.
We'll be able to discuss the sights & sounds stuff today beginning at 3PM ET (essentially immediately after the webcast). However, if it's not discussed in the webcast, we may not be able to discuss it. Obviously we'll be able to expand on things that they touch on.

Its fun and AND this is a video game after all.Honestly no clue whether they're in this year or not but the only problem with your "this is a video game after all" is that they still have to answer to the NCAA. If they wanted it taken out, they have to respond; I would assume that's the case in this scenario.

This could also be in reference to why they don't have late hits as well. Kind of a similar situation. They both draw flags in real life, but if the NCAA wanted it out, then it will definitely not be in. I guess it's because late hits and excessive celebrations seem more unsportsmanlike than other penalties.

Essentially that is what they did, only in a more scripted fashion. They would give them context to the situation & have them react to that situation. I think what was always missing was the context & emotion of each situation. They have started taking the steps to fix that.

I still would prefer them to commentate actual user vs cpu, user vs user games, and coach mode games as well then take those recordings and use them in the game, especially helpful to cover up the dead times between plays. I know it sounds like asking a lot but really you can get a bunch of different scenarios in the game than you can just think of as possible situations. If they want authentic sounding commentary that is the way I would go about doing it.

Personally, I would want no part of a system as complex as commentary needs to be that they could completely implement in one year. I think one of the main issues in the past has been trying to get something too big in in 1 dev cycle & the result is a skyscraper built on a cracked foundation. What they have done is to lay a very strong base & get a feel for what is possible with this new system.

Ah, well, as long as the more important things have been touch up on and fixed. Which seems to be the case. The devs take on things has changed so much from years past, and I like how they are paying more attention to what the fans and dedicated players want. they have all kinds of "reporters" set in place around the field, and they arent used at all. it'd be a huge gain, if they could use those figures for different kinds of replays. i'll take a pic in-game showing what i mean later on.

Personally, I would want no part of a system as complex as commentary needs to be that they could completely implement in one year. I think one of the main issues in the past has been trying to get something too big in in 1 dev cycle & the result is a skyscrape built on a cracked foundation. What they have done is to lay a very strong base & get a feel for what is possible with this new system.

Essentially that is what they did, only in a more scripted fashion. They would give them context to the situation & have them react to that situation. I think what was always missing was the context & emotion of each situation. They have started taking the steps to fix that.
yeah but did they give them a situation, like "it's 4th and 1 and they just got stuffed" or was it on the screen being played and they reacted to it? You can get two totally different reactions. Maybe if they don't play a whole game for them, play a series or two. This way Brad and Kirk can get into a flow and stuff that they said about the 1st down play will feed into what they said about the 3rd down play.

I see what you're saying, however I would think that then you are overly confining each comment. I'm not sure exactly what method they used as a visual but my understanding was that immersion played a significant part in their efforts this year while recording. I definitely get what you're getting at however I'm not sure that would get the results you're looking for necessarily.
By context I guess I mean more than down, distance & result. I think it was more detailed: 4th qtr, crucial drive, etc...

Yeah I think replicating a real life game commentary is going to be extremely difficult if not maybe impossible as no commentator does different games the same way.
But I do think they would get a better reaction if they gave them something visual to comment on, even if it was one play or scenario at a time, and maybe they did. You would just have to call less on Brad and Kirk "creating" emotion from a scenario on a piece of paper.

Glad they finally got the lighting from the sun, clouds, etc figured out, now like ryby, they need to get the actual weather (rain, snow) implemented so I can go from clear or partly cloudy to start and gradually turn to rain in the middle of the 2nd or 3rd quarter or something.

Oh, I know that and I agree with you. I was simply saying it would be nice if they could get the same quality in a shorter time frame. I am completely content with the strides they are making to improve commentating, and I am glad they have begun a cycle, this year, to change it. I think I even remember them saying they messed up in the past by implementing something way too fast, which resulted in poor quality.

i mentioned this earlier
one thing that i've always been frustrated with (even though its not a big deal), is the lack of camera crews displayed around the stadium.
they have all kinds of "reporters" set in place around the field, and they arent used at all. it'd be a huge gain, if they could use those figures for different kinds of replays. i'll take a pic in-game showing what i mean later on.
but here's what i was getting at. in this pic below, there are tons of these guys scattered all around the field. its the same number of people at every stadium and they're standing in the same spots. why cant they be put to use as part of the replay system?
http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/4053/662a00013jpegscreenshot.jpg
imagine the replays you'd get seeing the play unfold right in front of you. its a small addition, but it'd add a lot, imo.

Yep, I buy almost every game today from Amazon, as I have to drive over to the next town, resulting in about an hour or so long round trip in the end, to visit the nearest Gamestop. Amazon has release day shipping, so it will be there by release day. For me, depending on what route UPS puts my package on, it always arrives either during the 1pm hour or the 4pm hour on release day. Sure, it would be nice to have it the entire day to play, but I'm patient and don't mind waiting.
As for shipping, for regular Amazon users it's usually $1 release day shipping (though I have seen it be free for some games now and then) and if you're an Amazon Prime member, you can get release day shipping for free for any and every game.

Just for the sake of argument, how is teambuilder even possibly, remotely related to the sights category? Sights would be the LAST thing I would associate teambuilder with.
As for the chants, of course it's going to be "muffled". When was the last time you went to a college game in person? Could you hear the chant perfectly clear and crisp? Tens of thousands of people shouting a chant is going to make any and every chant "muffled" to a degree.
The reasons I am picking it up at GameStop are because, A) Because I work there. Lol. B) I have a $25 gift card for the store, and C) Because I have $40 of in store credit to go towards it. I'll split my money between NCAA and Ghost Recon most likely.
Lol, good reasons, I'll grant you that. I can't argue with any of those. Especially if you have gift cards or in store credit to use towards the game. For me, I don't think I have any in store credit and the hour long or so round trip drive just to get the game and get home isn't worth it enough to make the Gamestop trip to the next town over, so Amazon usually is the very first (and usually only) option for me when it comes to buying games. And unfortunately, Amazon tends to get screwed over and shafted a lot when it comes to pre-order bonuses.

Yeah, teambuilder can go with sight if you're using it to play dress up. To me, teambuilder is about creating teams to use in dynasties. Thus, it fits perfectly into the Dynasty webcast, and that's exactly where I have expected it to be mentioned all along since these webcasts were first announced.

I understand where you're coming from with the uniform mentions in today's webcast and everything, but for the most part, when looking at everyone who plays NCAA in the entire country, teambuilder is, for the most part, a dynasty-related item, using TB to create FCS/D2/D3 teams, create fictional teams, etc and use them in dynasties. Thus why from day 1 I have figured and pegged TB to be included as part of the dynasty webcast, and thus why I'm not the least bit surprised there wasn't even so much as a single TB mention in today's webcast.

sight=visual..teambuilder is that..its not an intellectual stretch to think it could be mentionedRam, I get what you're saying, but when the NCAA team mentions "sights and sounds", they're almost 100% exclusively talking atmosphere. Teambuilder is a feature, no matter how many aspects of it are visual in nature. This makes more sense to those of us who have been to Orlando (and seen how the team divides things up mentally), but that's the best way I can explain it here. Sights & Sounds = atmosphere; crowd, presentation, commentary, visuals (i.e. uniforms), etc.
We'll have a replay for sure Jeff. Should be able to watch on the same link.Justin, thanks. Though at first glance tonight, it appears to be starting a replay in mid-stream, rather than from a fixed point.

This makes more sense to those of us who have been to Orlando (and seen how the team divides things up mentally), but that's the best way I can explain it here. Sights & Sounds = atmosphere; crowd, presentation, commentary, etc.
Justin, thanks. Though at first glance tonight, it appears to be starting a replay in mid-stream, rather than from a fixed point. Maybe if I start it on the hour it'll work.
There should be a link somewhere that let's you start at your leisure.

One thing I love seeing in the Audio Blog and the IGN article is the collaboration between Tiburon and EA Canada. I've been skeptical about how much the two studios collaborate in the past, and there's definitely a major contribution there this year. I don't know if it's new or not, but it's very welcome to me. Reusing resources (from other games/teams, that is) can only help the game.

And with DICE as they got the paratrooper models from Battlefield. That's pretty cool.

I choose not to to read into it. Gameplay is on the 17th, I can wait 2 weeks for it. I liked what I saw. Hope the game can really look different & fresh every time I turn it on. Interested to see how the new commentary system will sound in its' first installment.

I've put out feelers to find out whether we can discuss what new teams would be included in the game. Likely won't hear back tonight but whenever I do I'll be sure to share.
For sure South Alabama, UTSA, Texas State and UMass have to be in the game right or else it would be an epic fail on EA's part since they will be in the WAC and MAC next season.

I think that is the fun part to me Hit, just hearing how they are using other resources like JeffH was talking about and taking advantage of those resources and moving forward from here can only mean good things for all games to be honest.
The new sounds, the new commentary, the new crowd noise all of this is very welcomed. Even though this will be in it's infancy this year I think from what I have heard during this video I'm going to really enjoy it.

It is my understanding that they will go through a 1 year "probationary" period where they won't be eligible for any Conference Championships or Bowl Games, then they'll be "full" members and able to play in any CC or Bowl Games. And for what it's worth, :South_Alabama: will be in the Sun Belt, not the WAC or MAC. But yes, I agree, they should be in the game. And if you read between the lines, what gschwendt said, it sounds like there will be at least some, if not all 4, of those teams in the game this year.

Sorry, meant to include Sun Belt as well. Even if they aren't eligible to win the conference they will still be in the actual conferences next year so therefore all 4 should be in the game.
Hell the WAC has to have them in the game or else they will only have 5 teams in their conference. :fdown:

South Alabama isn't a full member in 2012, so I'm guessing they won't be in.

However, they will be playing a FULL schedule AND be in the sun belt playing all of the teams just like a normal FBS team would. This is what makes me unsure if they will be in the game or not. If UMASS and the other teams are playing in FBS, I would think they would be under the same inaugurational period as South. If that's true, then South would be included I would think since UMASS is.

Playing a full schedule and being a full member are two different things in the NCAA's eyes though.

Really there's not too much to discuss for sights & sounds. The Commentary stuff wasn't in in January so no clue there from me but I'm not even sure if it ready the past couple of trips that were made. Do you know if UMASS played a full conference schedule last year? If not, and this is their first year doing so, then I don't understand why they would add UMASS, but leave out South or others. I'm just trying to understand better. Maybe I'm missing some key points and/or rules.

Looks like UMass isn't eligible for the MAC title next year either. I wonder if they can translate that to the game?
When will UMass be joining the Football Bowl Subdivision and the Mid-American Conference?
The University of Massachusetts football program is moving to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and will become a football member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). UMass will play a full FBS and MAC schedule beginning with the 2012 football season. Starting in 2013, UMass will be eligible for the MAC Championship and bowl participation. In 2011 UMass will continue to participate in the CAA but will not be eligible for the conference championship or NCAA post-season play.

Figured if they're not full fledged members, the CLC wouldn't allow them in the game, but with seeing UMASS, then that isn't the case apparantly.

This is why I was so curious because I thought they were all under the same rules to not be fully eligible this year for bowls and championships. I understood that the NCAA thinks a full schedule and full member are different, just unsure why they would add one and not the others. Just whenever you can clarify, that'll be great, gschwendt. If you can't anytime soon, that's fine, and of they aren't in, that's also fine. Just curious to see how they would handle this situation, and what determines if the teams get added to the game.

i think they'll be in the game. even if you play as USC in ncaa12, you can still win the national championship and be ranked in your first season. the only thing that affected me in my USC dynasty, was the championship contender recruiting pitch was a D the first year.

They ought to just throw all those new teams in the game, whether they are eligible for championships or not. They're going to be the worst rated teams anyway and unless you user control those teams, won't win any bowls or championships in year 1, 2, 3, or ever in a 30 year dynasty anyway.

It's the same old shit though and I'm certainly not buying it anymore, unless they do something DRASTIC to change the passing game. I haven't touched the game in months and the last time I did, I played two games, threw for ~1,000 yards in those two games, and was like, "Oh yeah, this game is stupid fuckin' easy unless you make the CPU cheat" and moved on to something else.
What's the point of running the ball AT ALL against the CPU? Easy answer: There isn't. Not when you can throw the ball for 5 or 6 hundred yards a game with any team as long as I use my playbook and not the utter trash that's in 95% of the playbook.

With all the TB talk it makes me think of a 'wish' for next year. At the minimum I'd like them to increase the TB slots to 16 to match the max number of teams in a conf. Not a big deal but I'd be nice...

I can do just the opposite. Lol. I can run 300+ yards almost every game against the CPU. Well, I can also pass for a ton of yards, too. It just depends on which I choose to do, or if I want to TRY and balance it out. I will still buy the game and enjoy it regardless. Game play webcast should be interesting.

At some point, you realize the limitations of this engine, & you make peace with it. Suction to a degree will still happen, I doubt that a true momentum system could be implemented, & that passing will be easy & that defense will be broken. However, that doesn't mean that the game hasn't made strides. For me, I liked what I heard & saw. Yes, it's aesthetic, but it's the total package to the game. Interested for the April 17th reveal.

He was being sucked in.... same old same old im telling you guys.FWIW, I was in Orlando a year ago at this time. And there was still a fairly significant difference between how the game played in April and how it ended up playing on the retail disc. So take the "gameplay" you see now with a healthy dose of salt, whether it seems like good gameplay or bad. As well, any videos shown now have likely been in production for a few weeks at least, so that gives even more time for the videos to be non-representative of the final product.

Personally i plan to purchase this game like i do every year. While yes there are broken parts of it i still enjoy it and dont think thats going to change with this version. I do think them talking about the changes they make is necessary but like a earlier poster said from April to July the game changed. Nope its not going to be close to perfect but its fun for me and the people i play with. Im still in 3 ODs now and a offline with Texas...
IMO they need to continue to add and improve on what works and take out the things that dont and re do them (which is easier said than done).
