My photobucket just seems to load so slow and imageshack has a 500 image limit
unless you pay. can you suggest a good free photo sharing/keeping site please ?

Flickr and Picasa both come to mind, though the only one I've personally used is Photobucket.

Here's a recent article from PC World on the topic: http://www.pcworld.com/article/246129/best_bets_for_photo_sharing_sites.html

thanks Jeff, but that only mentioned like 4,5 sites and they all want money. Is there anything a tad closer to a photobucket that isnt them LOL? I dont remember needing to download photobucket...why do I need to download Picasa?..i might use that one?

LOL no dude, there are add ons/stipulations..one of those you have to buy something once a year and the other, even though your stuff is there, you cant see beyond 200 unless you pay, then its all magically visible

I think you missed the free options part of his post about Flickr and 500px. He never said they were totally free, just that there are free options for those. Obviously, the 200 pic visible limit is part of the free options. Everything these days are going "free to an extent then pay if you want more" methods. As for me, Photobucket still works perfectly fine without any issues or lag and I have no plans to abandon it.
