Where was Baylor’s defense?

That’s what the Baylor nation was saying after watching their Bears lose to Kansas 52-49. Looking at the stat sheet, everything looks like Baylor had the game, but it turns out that Art Bryles decided to leave his defense at the hotel, because they were only able to stop the Kansas offense 3 times on the entire day. Some credit/blame does falls on Coach Willard’s offense. They started slow, allowing Kansas to take a 21-0 lead in the first quarter. But Coach Willard was able to get his offense going, scoring 49 points in the final 3 quarters. *Petty had another great day passing for 415 yards and 3 TD’s, while the running game went over 100 yards again and scored another 4 TD’s. The star of the day was WR Reese, who refused to be shutdown. He gave the Kansas D fits all day by gathering in an unheard of 310 receiving yards and 2 TD’s. But in the end it was not enough and the Bears fall to 7-5 in the regular season. There is some grumblings in Waco; it seems that the powers to be may not be pleased with Coach Willard’s style of offense. *They had high hopes coming into this season after winning the NC. Now anyone with a brain knows that the problem has been the defense all year, but when is all said and done, Coach Willard’s services may not be needed any longer in Waco. We asked Coach Willard about these rumors, and all he really said was that he liked the kids he has, but most of it is out of his hands. He also reminded us that he is a Midwestern guy after all.
