Arkansas State surrenders 21 points in the first quarter but manages to turn it around the following three quarters to beat Florida International 41-21. The Red Wolf defense struggled early allowing the Golden Panthers to connect on three big plays that easily set their scoring. However, they buckled down not allowing another point for the remainder of the game. The defensive line for ASU were getting after the FIU QB all day recording 5 total sacks and giving him no time to throw.

Offensively, QB Jason Watson completed 25 of 37 pass attempts for 337 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Watson spread his passes all around as he completed passes to 8 different receivers with Senior James Roberts leading the way with 6 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. That puts Roberts' season mark at 64 catches for 1299 yards and 13 TDs; Roberts currently leads the nation in receiving yards.

With the win, Arkansas State improves to 7-2 (5-1) on the season and next face Southern Miss and then Louisiana Tech before setting up a matchup with Arizona State to likely decide the fate of The Belt division.
