Cinematic looks really impressive but obviously doesn't say much in the way of gameplay. Far Cry 2 was good but got really old towards the middle when you had a bunch of missions that were all spread out over the map; I gave it up at that point. I would only assume that things should be much better in that regard for this one. Looking forward to it.

I barely got into Far Cry 2. Seems to be an okay shooter. Playstation+ members can get it for free right now. Others it's only $9.99 to download.

I think eventually I'll get back to it to see if I really want to get 3.

This video will more or less tell you if you'll be interested in Far Cry 3. Also the guys doing the commentary are kinda funny.
the young hero hearing the Call of duty and sees an opportunity for a Medal of Honor and heads out into the battlefield to try and resolve the crysis in uncharted territory which is kind of the borderland between the series...
It definitely appears much improved from Far Cry 2... not sure that I'll get it at launch but definitely will get it at some point.

Definitely not at all. I haven't liked any of the Far Crys yet and I doubt I'll like this one either. Just not my kind of game.

im picking it up, mostly becasue all the reviews I have read over the past month says that all the problems that plagues two have now been fixed. I think it looks like a pretty decent game.

Amazon has an ad for this game calling it Skyrim with Guns....really? The game does look phenomenal though.

Yeah... it's got RPG elements (missions, crafting, etc.) and it's a huge open world.

I'm loving it so far. This is what an open world game is supposed to play like, in my opinion. I still try my very best not to go near the water. Walking along a bank and seeing a crocodile just waiting there for you to walk by is seriously creepy. :D

I've decided this game is a mix of Assassin's Creed (minus the parkour aspects) and Skyrim.... with guns.

All that said, there are some annoyances. For example, you don't have to actually buy guns... instead, you purchase those guns once, then they're free for life. As well, if you just happen to pick one up and drop it, you can go back to the store and it's free.

That and the crafting/selling is extremely shallow... you can't craft an item over and over to re-sell it. You craft it once, keep it, and then there's little reason to skin animals anymore (once you've crafted everything).

I agree with most of this. I am doing all my hunting right now to unlock everything just so I don't have to worry about it anymore. The tigers are a serious annoyance, and the crocs spring out of nowhere. lol

Down to $29.99 on Amazon. (http://www.amazon.com/Far-Cry-3-Playstation/dp/B0050SXX88/ref=as_li_tf_sw?&linkCode=wsw&tag=thegamtai-20)

If it's still that price after I get through Tomb Raider, then maybe I'll sell and buy.

I loved Far Cry 3, beat the game and even picked the bad ending on purpose. It does borrow from AC but I enjoyed climbing the towers. I never found one that was too hard to climb but they do get progressively harder.

The worst part of the game is the two "boss" fights and how you fight them. Also once you do the ending and the game does warn you, it really loses it's luster to continue. Unless you are an achievement/Trophy hound. Best to get everything out of the way before the ending.

I kind of figured it was since it was actually in certification when I originally posted about it. I've seen some game play videos and wow, it's REALLY out there. I have to try it.
