Maybe not -
I just checked the schedule and I'm playing Alabama this week, not the Gamecocks. Holy oversight, Batman. New league, new uniforms...all the crimson and white teams look alike. Yikes...

FIU beats UL Lafayette 48-21. FIU's offense rolled for the second straight week putting up 538 total yds. Bback Damonte Terry once again lead the way with 153 yds and 1 TD on 22 carries. Once again the passing game was very inefficient with QB Jake Medlock only going 9-22. However, he was finally able to take advantage of the 1-1 coverage the recievers have seen all year and hit a bunch of deep passes putting up 294 yds and 3 TD's through the air. Offensive Coordinator John Doe stated "We have been throwing the ball more then we normally do. However, Jake has pretty good arm strength and accuracy compared to some other kids we've coached in the past and we have really wanted to take advantage of it. He just needs to settle down in the pocket a little more and continue to work on getting better". This was also a huge recruiting weekend for the Golden Panthers as they had 15 guys visiting. Next up for FIU is #12 Troy!

Baylor Wins in Last Second!
Everything may have changed for the Baylor Bears this week. Not only did they manage to win the game in the final seconds of the 4th qtr. They may have learned that they have the horses to throw the ball with some confidence. The game started slow, but then blew up. It was a simple 14-7 halftime lead for the Bears. Then TCU seemed to find some offense. Scoring 21 in the 3rd, leaving the score at 28-28 heading into the 4th. TCU then tied the game with only 2 seconds left in the game. The Bears come out and throw a pass and their speedy receiver Washington who had a huge day, beats the corner and takes it 79 yards for the winning TD with no time left on the clock. On the day the Bears looked pretty good on offense, racking up 255 passing yards and 319 rushing yards, for a total of 574 yards offensively. However their defense gave up almost as many yards, turning what should have been a slaughter fest into a shootout. Two of Baylor’s backs went over 100 yards rushing. If Baylor can get their D to play a little better, then they should be in good shape, seeing that the toughest part of their schedule is over with. *Next week the Bears will host Oklahoma State, and hope to continue with their winning ways.
In recruiting news, Coach Willard locked up another 4 recruits this past week, with two more in soft commit status. While not 4 or 5* players, these players will help the Bears develop some depth on a relatively young and inexperienced team.

Next up for FIU is #12 Troy!
They might be ranked a little higher by next week!
#10 Tennessee invades Tuscaloosa to meet up with the #1 ranked Alabama squad. Bama had the crowds full of venom and hate for this "Third Saturday in October" rivalry game. Here we go!
Alabama rolled out to a quick 7-0 lead on the back of the ground game. HB Dee Hart would be a beast to contain, and he punched in a 4 yard run to start the party. A sack and fumble recovery set up a short field for Alabama, and it was quickly 14-0. The first quarter deficit was just what Tenneesee was used to, even though today's slump was due more to the 99 rated defense instead of our own issues. We went into half time trailing 21-7, so we needed some action.
In the third quarter we score three touchdowns to get back in the game. Problem was, Alabama scored twice, too. We could not stop their offense. At the end of the thrird, it was 35-27 Bama, but we were in striking distance!
In the fourth quarter, the Crimson Tide stopped playing with us and let loose. They hung up 28 points and made this one a laugher. The game, and any hopes of a National Championship, ended with a final score of Alabama 63, Tennesee 36. They are #1 for a reason. Their defense was intuative, fast, and angry. Their offense was a grinder, just moving the pile and bleeding us for long drives that resulted in scores. We hung close for a while, but they just rbing wave after wave of all-american level talent. It was brutal.
#10 may be our watermark for the year, but next week we really do face South Carolina, so hopefully we'll return to the left column.
