We're now in the Coaching Carousel.

Dawg has been offered & accepted the Kansas head coaching job.

I'll continue to update this until 8pm CT when we do offseason.

Jake is now the OC at Arizona State.

I've had literally 25+ job offers, mostly OCs but also HC at UAB & FAU. I've declined them all because they're all really senior heavy teams. I would consider it otherwise since my team is loaded down with juniors this past season.

We're now at players leaving.

Everyone except army and fiu have players wanting to leave early.

Thankfully I talked my all-world cb into returning for his senior season. He's a stud and would be thin without him.

We're now in week 1 of the offseason. We'll hold up here until after 8.

We're at the Custom Conferences stage (before preseason).

It was brought up in the chat tonight, a suggestion of moving everyone into one conference with two divisions, 3 user teams in each side. I haven't made any changes yet but after looking, if we went that route, here's what we'd be looking at:

14 schools - 8 conference games when using protected rivals. 9 conference games when not using protected rivals.

What that means is that everyone would have 2 UvU games inside their division, then we could set a designated rival as for a 3rd UvU game, and then potential to get the 4th as a random opponent. Obviously in that, we'd have to have everyone decide who they'd like as their protected rival from the other division. At maximum (and at practically a 2/6 chance), some might get 4 UvU games but no more than that. As well, obviously the division winners would play in the CCG and likely add another UvU game.

Thoughts? Questions? Suggestions? Do you hate it?

As well, do we want to shake up the divisions at all or keep them in a similar break-down as last season's conferences?

*The benefit of using 14 instead of 16 teams is we'd have 4 OOC games instead of only 3 meaning more flexibility in scheduling outside opponents. If we went with 12, then that'd be more likely to have UvU games since you'd have 3 cross-division matchups.

Just a couple of more notes... we'd drop the weakest teams from each conference, likely keeping just Troy & Miami, OH, but then add teams like Houston, La Tech, Southern Miss, UTEP, & Tulsa.

The only concern I have with all of this is that there is a limitation on how many total conference moves you can make over the course of an OD. I think the total is like 70 or something like that but I have no idea how many we have made so far that count against us. Perhaps we can make all of the ones we want this year but what happens if someone gets a job from a team not in the conference... that means at least one more shuffle.

Just some things to keep in mind.

I'll be honest either way I'm staying at SJST for this whole thing. I won't be taking another job, I've put lots of effort into rebuilding this team and want to see where I end up when it is all said and done.

Yeah .... I'm the same way. There really isn't going to be a job to wow me to leave.

I've decided to act on executive decision and go with the 14 team conference. I kept the User team splits the same and I tried to be balanced on the CPU teams but since I couldn't see the team ratings, there's no way to be certain.

I'm advancing to the preseason now. Get your schedule requests in ASAP. You have 4 OOC games to schedule. One must be a ranked opponent of my choosing, and the rest have to remain balanced in being home vs away.

Finally, the cross-divisional rivals are:
San Jose State vs Arkansas State
Kansas vs Florida International
Army vs Arizona State

I can't remember if I had any 2-for-1's going or what not. I don't think so because we only had room to pick 1 OOC game last season.

Can you list who the other 8 teams in our conference are?

My OOC requests:

For my ranked game, I'd like to travel cross-country (Boise or Cal).

For the others try to get me any of the following: (in this order), Navy, @Nebraska, v. Pitt, v. Colorado, v. UCONN, @Iowa

Schedules are set. We're waiting on Darius & Jake to finish preseason. Darius said he'll finish it right after 5pm, haven't heard back from Jake yet. Will definitely be advancing tonight.

As for schedules, I worked in pretty much everyone's requests and gave everyone 6 home games (except Army who has 5 and a neutral site game). Here's what I think they are (not in front of my console):

Arizona State:
vs UNLV
@ #9 Oregon
vs Arizona

Arkansas State:
@ #5 Wisconsin
@ #23 Illinois
vs North Texas

Army:
@ Nebraska
@ #6 Boise State
vs Navy (neutral site game)

FIU:
@ UCLA
@ #4 Mississippi State
vs Florida Atlantic

Kansas:
@ #2 Oklahoma
vs Kansas State
vs Missouri

San Jose State:
@ #8 Washington
vs San Diego State
vs Fresno State
