The wheels are falling off the wagon in Bowling Green. In last week's victory, BG lost its starting DE for 4 weeks with a broken forearm and its fastest RB for 5 weeks with broken ribs. So when we stepped off the bus in Ohio and saw a snow covered stadium, we knew it going to be a long day.
It got ugly early when the bizarro Matt Schilz reappeared. He was so far off on his throws, the opposing crowd was chanting TE-BOW after another airball. Schilz got knocked out of the game for good in the third quarter, his status for next week is unclear. Trailing 28-14 in the fourth, backup QB Matt Johnson lead the charge. Things looked great until we lost out #1 receiver for the game with an injury. Johnson tied the score with a minute left, and we went into overtime. And that would be the last we would see of any defense.
Bowling Green and Ohio played for four OT periods until BG finally blinked. Ohio wins 66-58 in a wild game. The Falcons now fall to second place in the MAC East, behind Temple. Those two teams will face off next week.

FAU Runs over Navy 49-14
Well not much went right for Navy. FAU pretty much just had their way with Navy’s undersized D line. The Owls were able to rack up 467 rushing yards, against the Midshipman. RB Travis Jones had a school record 308 yards on just 38 carries and 3 TD’s. Giles also added another 159 yards on just 11 carries and 1 TD. Kool was just that today, very cool. Only needing to go 5-7 for 91 yards, but he did have 2 TD’s on the day. The Owl’s D really stepped up and pretty much shutdown Navy’s triple option, but when you practice against it, you get really good at stopping it. The Owl’s defense is currently the #2 ranked D in the country. All year the Owls have been led by their star, and Heisman front runner, as well as #1 in three other Award categories (Jr.) RB Travis Jones who on the year has over 2200 yards, and 19 TD’s, and with 4 games left he has a real shot to break the 3000 yard mark, and the NCAA mark for most yards in a season. But the real surprise has to be his backup (Fr) Giles, who has come on strong and really made the FAU rushing attack a two headed monster, has over 600 yards and 7 TD’s. He could also possibly get to 1000 yards on the season. What’s scarier for Sun Belt foes is that both Jones and Giles will most likely return next season. * The Owls are also ranked #12 in the country and the experts have them slated as of now to play in the Fiesta Bowl against Baylor. However we assume Baylor is vying for a spot in the BCS National Championship game. But should the Owls continue down this storied road, and then they would be the first Sun Belt team ever to play in a BCS bowl game. Not bad for a team that missed the post season last year. *Next up the Owls will play WKU the week before they play their hated in state rivals FIU. Could the Owls complete their Florida sweep? , Having already beaten UCF, and USF. The Next couple weeks should be really exciting in Boca Raton-Ft. Lauderdale.
