FAU Outlasts ASU 37-23

It was a hard fought game for the Owls. The Red Wolves really made the Owls earn this win. The First couple series for both teams was uneventful. Eventually the teams would battle to a 7-7 tie. Then FAU QB Kool threw a INT in the red zone and ASU turned that into 6 more points, they missed the PAT. Then ASU also got FG to go ahead 16-7 with under a min. before the half. But the Owls wouldn’t quit. Aided by some big runs from star HB Jones, the Owls worked themselves to the ASU 40 yard line with 8 seconds left in the half. Coach Willard’s call for a deep pass to end the half and their prayer was answered. Senior WR hauled in the 40 yard pass for a TD as time expired, and the Owls went to the locker room trailing 16-14. Second half was another hard fought battle FAU scored to open the 3rd qtr, then ASU would turn the ball over on their own 8 yard line to give FAU fantastic field position. By the end of the 3rd qtr FAU led 30-16. Both teams would add another TD, and the Owls would run out the clock to end the game at 37-23. The star of the game was none other than RB Travis Jones who 231 yards on 27 carries and 1 TD. 2nd HB Giles also added94 yards on 15 carries and 1 TD. Kool went 6-13 for 115 and 2 TD,1 INT. Next week the Owls will host the Navy Midshipmen.
