Having been attacked twice by dogs in my life I get frustrated when I read this kind of thing.

My friend had a dog chained outside, it was a friendly dog till one day it decided to bite my nose and I had to be rushed to the ER and the Doctor's there lifted the tip of my nose to the middle of my forehead and rebuilt the inside while saving the outside. I'm left with scar tissue on the inside of my nostrils and scars on the outside. Over 200 stitches it took (I was 12 or 13 at the time). I still remember the 2 shots in the eye's like it was yesterday I got. It was the most painful thing I have ever been through and this is coming from someone that crushed his C3 in a car accident and has a 16 inch scar down the back of his neck.

The second attack came at 730AM on a Saturday morning before a Penn State home game. I went to pick up a friend at his parents house and his stepmom was holding the dog. I just passed the dog to her after holding it, and I went in to pet him and BOOM he snapped and bite my freaking lip. I had to have 16 stitches on the outside of my upper lip (2 spots) and 4 on the inside of my mouth. When it was all done I walked from the ER to the tailgate and proceeded to make the game!! GO STATE!! Friends still talk about it as well. My wife was none to pleased because I didn't call her to tell her till after the game when I went to her work and she saw me and was like WTF happened to you. She thought I was in a fight, then after I told her she was pissed because I was just telling her this at 8pm when it happened over 12 hours ago. hahaha

On the same note, I had to put one of my dogs down because it was aggressive. Not towards me, just everyone else. That damn dog growled at my then 3 month old. The next day (it was my wife's dog before marriage) I took it to the vet. RIP Molly.

I just don't see the point in having an animal that can cause that kind of damage and pain.

I think its how they are raised. My Brother in law has one and his son plays with him rough, really rough. It has a mean growl but I havent seen an aggression out of it towards anyone

I'm not a big fan of them myself but I know that if a dog is raised the right way, it can be a good dog. That said though, I think at the very least there should be laws that you cannot have more than one pit bull (or other vicious dog) in the same household. Having four is absurd.

I've had at least one dog my entire life and never had a problem out of any of them, ever, and, currently, one of them is part pit and part St bernard and he's the friendliest dog you've ever seen unless you act threatening toward him and then, he'll only bark at you.

Dogs are great and I definitely prefer them to cats. The average dog may not be as smart as the average cat, but they are far friendlier, in my opinion, and just more enjoyable to have around.

My parents have owned 2 dogs for a significant time, plus a couple others that they gave temporary housing to, I guess you could say.. It's a combination of nature and nurture, really. The dog we've had since I was in middle school is practically an angel. The only time she'll ever get aggressive (besides with the cats) is when you try to take something from her like a treat. Even then "aggressive" is overstating things. Their second dog was the same way, never a problem. They also had a third dog (my mom has this strange obsession with trying to have more than one animal at a time) before the second, and that one was a nightmare. She tried to take control of the house the first day she was with us -- basically tried to dictate to the first dog that she was boss, and we were her people. Very possessive and aggressive. The fourth dog (after the second one died) was decent at first but turned on my mom after a couple months.

Yeah I haven't owned a dog since my doberman pincher died when I was younger. I was really close to her. I had a pit mixed with another breed I can't think of a while ago but had to get rid of her. That will be the closest I come to owning a Pit Bull especially now that I have a son. I don't even think you can have one in the area I live in unless you have it fenced in and own a leash.

Yep. It's always someone else who is at fault/to blame. Hell, I'm still waiting to see an uproar from parents about L.A. Noire who bought it for little 12 year old Timmy (like they did with Halo, Call of Duty, GTA, etc) and end up shocked to find a bunch of fully nude dead women in the game. You can just guarantee there is going to be a news story or some parents group who is going to say something or start something one of these days here, if they haven't already.

Washington (CNN) -- Protesting members of the controversial Westboro Baptist Church were met with an unlikely group of counterprotesters Monday at Arlington Cemetery.

Hours before President Barack Obama led the nation's Memorial Day observances at the Tomb of the Unknowns, three members of the Westboro Baptist Church were challenged by others who disagreed with them -- including members claiming to be from the Ku Klux Klan.

The Kansas-based church has attracted nationwide attention for its angry, anti-*** protests at the funerals of U.S. military members.

Among those counter-protesting at the cemetery's main entrance: About 10 members of a group that claims to be a branch of the Ku Klux Klan from Virginia called the Knights of the Southern Cross. They were cordoned off separately in a nearby area, but drew little attention as they gave out small American flags behind a banner that read "POW-MIA."

They said they were there to object to the Westboro Baptist Church's anti-troop message.

"It's the soldier that fought and died and gave them that right to free speech," said Dennis LaBonte, the self-described "Imperial Wizard" of the KKK group that he said he formed several years ago.

"That's fine," said Abigail Phelps, the daughter of Westboro Baptist Church founder Fred Phelps. "They have no moral authority on anything.

"People like them say it's white power ... white supremacy," Phelps said. "The Bible doesn't say anywhere that it's an abomination to be born of a certain gender or race."

LaBonte insisted he is not a racist nor a "hate-monger," but said he believes the white race is "slowly and most assuredly being denigrated."

Members of the group declined to say whether they were armed.

A larger group of about 70 protesters -- separate from the KKK -- located across the street waved pro-USA signs and took turns shouting down the Westboro Baptist Church group.
Some of the counterprotesters, including Malaika Elias, stood in front of the Westboro participants in an attempt to block them from street view.

"I think they're twisted and confused, and we're just here to show them there are people who think they're completely wrong," Elias said.

Many passersby shouted their thanks to the counterprotesters as they entered the cemetery on foot and in vehicles.

Several police officers, some on horseback, observed the proceedings.

Phelps said her trio was there to tell people they should not "idolize" the dead, especially those who died for an "unrighteous cause."

BEREKELEY, SC (WCIV/CNN) - Attorneys for a South Carolina jail filed a motion of opposition after the American Civil Liberties Union brought a lawsuit against the jail's book policy.

It all started after someone claimed that the Berekeley County Jail in South Carolina was allowing inmates to read books other than the Bible.

"The press seems to be saying that the only thing allowed in the jail is a Christian Bible, and that is just not true. And, it has not been true." said Sandra Senn, Berekeley County Jail attorney. "We allow all religious texts regardless of the religion and have for years. And, there is plenty of reading materials in the jail such as novels, cross-word puzzles, pamphlets."

ACLU says that is not enough, they want pornographic books and magazines for inmates.

"If they don't like the wording in some of our policy, we'll be happy to try and create better wording for them. But, there are certain issues that we're just not going to be able to bend on," Senn said.

Officials say if that kind of reading material would create a hostile and chaotic environment.

"It's going to create all kinds of problems because you're going to have an issue with masturbation at that point," said Robin Jackson, Berekeley County Jail attorney. "And then you run the risk of not just sexual assault but, physical assault because men don't want to see other men doing those types of activities."

The ACLU also wanted the jail to allow things like nude photos and photos of weapons, drugs and alcohol. A preliminary hearing will be held June 14.
