A year ago, on January 1, 2015, I put together a series of time-based facts to remind everyone that they’re old. One year later, let’s do an update:

The 21st century seems like it just started, but we’re already halfway to 2032.

The Wonder Years aired from 1988–1993 and covered the years 1968–1973. If it were made today, it would cover the years 1996–2001. Instead of episodes about the moon landing, The Beatles, and the Civil Rights Movement, they’d be about the Bush-Gore election, Britney Spears, and the September 11th attacks. The characters in a Wonder Years made today would be watching Friends (’94 – ’04), South Park (’97 – present), Family Guy (1999 – present), and the first season of 24 (2001 – 2010).

And Family Guy started airing (Jan ’99) closer to M*A*S*H being on the air (1972 – 1983) than to today.

Speaking of the moon landing, the following movies were in theaters closer to the moon landing than to today:

Born before 1973? You were born closer to the 1920s than to today. Today’s 38-year-olds were born closer to the 1930s than to today. 28-year-olds and 23-year-olds, before you laugh, you were born closer to the ’50s and ’60s than today, respectively.

Know any 84-year-olds? Their birth is farther away from today than is the 22nd century. And there are millions of people alive today who will live well into the 22nd century. But there are only two people alive today who were also alive in the 1800s.

The average age of an American woman when she has her first child is 25.8. That means that the average woman giving birth to her first child right now was born in the 1990s.

Remember 1996? The way we thought of the 60s then is how someone who today is the age you were then thinks of the 80s. The way you thought of the 70s then is exactly how far in the past the 90s are today. In 1996, Sinatra’s early prime was the same distance back as the Disco era is today.

How about 1980? It’s closer to FDR, Churchill and Hitler fighting each other than it is to 2016.

1977 is 39 years ago—1/4 of the way back to the Civil War and Lincoln’s presidency.

How about other American presidencies? If you’re a 34-year-old American like me, your early childhood took place during the Reagan administration, you finished elementary school during Bush Sr.’s presidency, and high school coincided with Clinton. Someone who’s nine years old today views George W. Bush the way I view Jimmy Carter, and for them, the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal is exactly as far back as Watergate is to me. Reagan, for them, happened when Eisenhower’s presidency happened for me.

And finally, one of my favorite childhood movies was Back to the Future, during which the present was 1985. The date the movie used as the faraway future? October 21, 2015. A time now in the past.

I got sick of seeing an increase of 10-15 dollars per month on my auto policy every 6 months. I have no tickets, accidents, claims etc so it is bullshit to keep raising my premiums so much as my vehicle ages. State Farm kept doing it though.

I was planning to switch companies later this year as I'm planning to get a new vehicle. However, the most recent increase ($15 a month) pissed me off enough that I called my agent's office for an explanation. 3 fucking weeks have passed and they have not returned my call.

So, I called GEICO this morning to get a quote. I got the EXACT same coverage and cut my deductibles from 500 to 250 and I'm going to save over $600 per year. I'm sure GEICO will start fucking me at some point so when they do, I'll switch again.

Just thought I'd share this because, if you're the kind of customer they're counting on and you don't want the "hassle" of switching or shopping, you are probably being fucked like I was and you should take a few minutes to put a stop to it.

As a guy that works for Allstate, I can probably explain it.

First of, GEICO, good luck getting a claim. 15 minutes will save you money until you try to get money from them.

Insurance rates go up based on the overall amount of claims in the area too. Mine just went up $10 a month because of that. So the driving of other idiots will affect you in some way to offset their costs.

Sort of. I wasn't joking when I said I was going to be busy as fuck with work those next two weeks. Hell, December 4th, I pulled a 6am to 10pm day, and was going to be working 2:30am to 10pm that Saturday (the 5th). So I was either working or sleeping essentially for those next two weeks.

I also partially stayed away intentionally that entire weekend because I was probably on the verge of saying something that was going to get me the banhammer, and I didn't feel like dealing with that. So it started where I intentionally stayed away that weekend to avoid saying something in our Oklahoma/Ohio discussion that would probably get me banned.

After that, I don't know, it was sort of nice taking a break from here. As time went on, I just sort of kept extending the "vacation", if you will. I didn't have to deal with Ram's bullshit, so I was able to enjoy the rest of the college football and NFL season. And outside of maybe some discussion on various game releases or upcoming games in 2016, I didn't feel like I was missing a ton of conversation, and I was still able to partake in conversations outside of this site thanks to our couple of group nights on SW Battlefront, so I just sort of kept the vacation rolling. I nearly cut it short on January 3rd when I won the NFL Pick'em, just so I could rip Ram a new asshole, but I never got a chance that night and work picked back up the next day, so I delayed my return a little longer.

I finally decided Ram's new asshole ripping had been delayed long enough last night, especially after his new levels of bullshit these last two weeks.

Forgot to mention that I upped my rental reimbursement from $35 to $50 a day also. Another way my policy is now better for more than $600 per year less.

Eh, it was more I was really worn out from a long week of work and was getting a little punchy. That, and things got blown WAY out of proportion. I was only fucking around and joking with the whole Oklahoma lost to Texas thing, then it started getting into a back and forth war. And all my life, I've never been one to back down, so I just kept slinging back that whole night even though it was over something that I couldn't have even cared less about because it was nothing more than a joke for me to fuck around with. The joke just ended up getting way out of hand.

Like I said, I mainly left and stayed gone that weekend because I was probably on the verge of either getting banned or ending up with some serious infractions. After that weekend, between being busy as hell, and actually enjoying life not having to deal with Buffalo Ram and his dumb shit claims, I just sort of kept rolling my "vacation" week after week throughout December and the first half of January here. It was actually rather nice being away for a bit!

Two patches ago caused issues with some items taking forever to come up (volume, network) with left click.

Last Patch - no issues

Latest Patch - Left click only works on apps. Can't even bring up the start button. Have to resort to right clicking for everything, except for applications.

I found out on Monday that my doctor died over the weekend. I think, in his sleep on Sunday night. Crazy. He was a relatively young guy (early to mid forties). I just saw him on the 21st of March.

Even Hollywood, who stretch the imagination as far as the eye can see, limited the original to the Indians winning a play-in game against the Yankees and in the sequel making it to the World Series. They dare not show the Indians winning a Championship on screen as they would have to change the title from a work of fiction to alternate universe.

Honestly I think that's it. With NCAA gone I have been forced to expand my gaming experience and it turns out there are a ton of amazing games on the market. I am losing interest in sports games and that passion is going to things like Witcher, Fallout, etc.

For me, it's not even a matter of Republicans vs Democrats, it's just simply a matter of Trump may very well be the worst presidential candidate (and now president elect) in the history of this country. The fact that he got elected after running a campaign filled with such hate and vitriol shows just how much further this country still has to go.

Not only that, but we still have no clue who we just elected. He still hasn't released his tax returns, and you can be sure fucking certain he'll never do so now. Any position he has ever taken on anything has been changed repeatedly over the years and even just as recently as past weeks if he thought it'd help him win. And the levels of vindictiveness and thirst for revenge against anyone and everyone he has ever felt has wronged him in the past, having the power of the president behind him and making it that much easier for him to go after his self perceived enemies scares the hell out of me.

That and his inability to even keep his fucking mouth shut. Christ, his goddamn aides had to ban him from Twitter for the past week just to keep him from saying something stupid in the days leading up to the election. He can't be trusted with goddamn Twitter, and yet we just handed him the keys to the country. Fuck me... Sure, people love that he "speaks it as he sees it" and doesn't sugar coat, and hell, I do that plenty myself, but on an international scale, the president absolutely must have complete and total control of his words and actions. I will be honestly amazed and completely shocked if we get through these next four years without him creating some sort of an international incident because of something he said or did.

Now, this whole fucking election was a fucking joke. Both candidates were flawed beyond belief. And it is incredibly depressing that these two were the best we could do. But I wasn't nearly worried about how much damage could be done to this country under Clinton as I am under Trump. I can only hope that now that the election is over and he no longer has to speak directly to his base at rallies, that some of his extreme claims will be moderated over the coming weeks and months and that he won't be so far on the far right edge as he played up to his base as being.

And this email scandal is the single most overblown scandal I've ever seen. Everybody acts like she had military secrets in her hotmail email. There have been no reports of the server being hacked. Nearly all the confidential emails were made confidential AFTER the email chain started, and the deleted emails were said to have been personal in nature as Hillary used that email server for personal and professional reasons (primarily for convenience). Meanwhile, our president LITERALLY told Russia to cyberattack us. His foundation has shown to be a fraud. His school was a fraud. His proposed economic plan will cost American jobs. He wants to deregulate Wall Street again. Last time it was deregulated, Bush was president and I'm sure we remember the state of the economy when he left and Obama took over. Almost everything he says that has been independently fact-checked has come back as lie.

I will respectfully disagree with a lot of what you said here.

You've made it clear that you don't like who trump is as a human being. I get it. But let's not deny one very important fact, Hillary is a criminal. She's openly talked about classified material concerning our national security to people from other countries. That's a treasonous offense and should land any normal person behind bars for life. On top of that, Obama told everyone on national television that if someone who's not a registered citzen votes in this election, the government will not prosecute them even though that's a felony offense. Yes, both Obama and Hillary encouraged illegals to vote and commit a felony crime. Let that sink in that they have no respect for the law.

Hillary doesn't care about anyone in this country but herself. When our soldiers called in Benghazi, asking for help, she wouldn't even take the fucking call. I personally don't understand why people have such a big problem with the rich getting tax cuts. When has a person living in poverty or even a middle class person employed hundreds or thousands of people? It's never happened. The rich employ the not as rich. If you make the rich richer, they will employ more people. If you tax them more, they're going to cut their losses to remain profitable. That means cutting jobs. This is a basic business principle. A profitable business will grow and expand and will hire more people. A business taxes up the ass will cut jobs to keep profits. Big business is good. I don't understand how people not get that.

Obama also made it illegal to sell inexpensive private insurance. He made it a law that everyone was required to have health insurance. He took away a choice you could make. Obamacare is one of the biggest disasters this country has seen in recent years.

Let's not forget, mors, that Bill Clinton also had an affair in office. Not to mention he's also been accused of rape, griping a woman without her consent, and sexually harassing a woman back when he was governor. Funny how that wasn't a big issue back when he was running for president. The media has taken almost every controversial issue Trump has talked on, out of context. All this talk of stopping immigration to our country is only to PROTECT us. He wants to do background checks on Muslims before they can come here, because in case you haven't noticed, most, if not all ISIS members are Muslims. Hillary wanted open borders, basically allowing any terrorist in the world a free invite to come bomb us. Trump doesn't care that a certain race is coming into our country, he just wants it done the legal way. Yet it's the liberal media that spins it as Trump's a rascist.

Even were able to send him to a private pre-school last year and bought a decently sized house in that same year. She now works part time (10 hours/week) at a pre-school but it's just to help out because of how helpful she was as a volunteer.

No aid, assistance or anything else.

Sure health insurance is a big cost but it was the same high cost years before at my jobs.

So thankfully I've been blessed enough for my family and I to have gotten along fine under the previous administration. We will do the same when we have another child lord willing.

That was one thing that Bernie was right about, attacking her for her and Bill's Wall Street ties and her speeches and whatever else.

However, for as much as Trump claimed to be the outsider candidate, so far all I'm seeing is him getting cozy with lobbyists, Wall Street and Washington insiders based on names being considered for various jobs and those who are helping behind the scenes in the transition.
