apparently i've just been pissing a few people off at my work. one coworker went and complained about me to the manager, because i told him what to do, how to do it, and why the way he was doing it was wrong, in a tone that he didnt like. another coworker got all mad and upset at me and complained too because he spent an hour working on organizing some product we have for one of our clients last week, and then i went and brought it back to the bulk section of the warehouse.

both times, the manager said i was in the right. still though, kind of upsetting that 2 coworkers would complain about me.

Nah, I aced a test once (http://www.wikihow.com/Figure-Out-Whether-or-Not-You-Are-a-Lesbian) that said I was a lesbian.

Do you wonder if you’ll ever start liking guys—the way you think you’re “supposed to”?
Someone thinks I am "supposed to" start liking guys? Have not met that person.

When your friends talk about boys, do you feel bored—or like you can’t relate to their interest in guys?
Yes.

Do you find yourself daydreaming or fantasizing about dating the girls you know instead of the guys?
Absolutely.

Do you ever think about what it would be like to kiss or make out with another girl?
All the time.

When you are with a girl you are attracted to, does your belly do flip-flops?
Flippity-Floppity.

When you hear love songs on the radio, do you think of guys or girls?
Girls.

Who do you fantasize about more, men or women?
Women.

If you have the choice of spending time with a girl you like or a boy you like, which do you choose?
A Girl.

Who do you enjoy kissing more? Men or women?
Women.

Are your feelings for women stronger than your feelings for men?
Yes.

Do you get more excited about the idea of kissing a man or kissing a woman?
Woman.

Who do you see yourself settling down with in the future?
Women.

Are you more physically attracted to men's or women's bodies?
Woman.

Are you not as physically attracted to men as you feel society thinks you should be?
Society does not dictate my life.

Do you have a lot of lesbian friends?
I have a lot of lesbian videos.

Do people ever ask you if you are *** and are surprised when you're not?
Topic has never arisen.

Do you follow television shows where you appreciate female characters more strongly than or to the exclusion of male characters?
My Xhamster favs and video section of my hard drive would say so.

Has it occurred to you that you could be something in life other than heterosexual?
A lesbian, yes.

Nailed em all. I am a lesbian.

ALL of these Union complaints were COMLETELY FORESEEABLE if they had basic reasoning and logic skills. Of course, they do not.

All of those complaints are money hungry fuckers not willing to shell out a small amount of money more for their employees to be covered CORRECTLY.

I mean, their main complaint is that it's causing companies to cut employees' hours below 30 hours/week. That's isolated because, clearly, those employees are part-time employees anyway (otherwise they'd HAVE to be given 30 hours/week to be considered full time employees).

You can bitch all you want, but we are the only developed nation in the world without proper health care available for all working people. When you have citizens that are trying to make an honest living on minimum wage - $10/hour jobs but can't afford the healthcare provided by their job/can't afford to find their own 3rd party healthcare provider because the healthcare companies don't want more customers because it drives down their profit margin, something is fuckin' wrong in this country.

And, of course, as soon as government funded healthcare becomes available to people, all the rich motherfuckers want to act like it's the end of the world because they can't line their pockets with more money than they already have. What the fuck happened to caring about your fellow citizen? What happened to trying to make EVERYONE'S quality of life better instead of just your own? Oh wait, I know; this is America where everyone's objective is to get as far as they can, no matter who they step on on the way there. :smh:

ALL of these Union complaints were COMLETELY FORESEEABLE if they had basic reasoning and logic skills. Of course, they do not.

These people are just mad because their unions are losing their advantage over people, ie their way to make money. I learned along time ago not to join a union. Most of the dues people pay don't even get used to help the people, just to line the pockets of the union leaders. Jobs (including those that don't have unions) were already cutting the hours of part-time employees and retaining less people on staff who are full-time. "Obamacare" did nothing to change that. All of this is just to preserve a profit margin for the corporations/unions just like mors said.

A word of wisdom. If you're ever in NW Ohio and have to go to a hospital for something, AVOID Mercy Hospitals, specfically Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. What a fucking joke of a hospital they are. :fp:

A little back story. Years ago, my grandma went into the hospital to have a pacemaker put in, she goes to Mercy Defiance Clinic here in town. They sent her to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo for the procedure. The dumbshit, who apparently finished last in his class at medical school, fucks up the procedure while putting the wires in, missing her heart and instead poking and collapsing her lung. She had to stay in the hospital for something like four days before she was finally released.

Fast forward to this past Thursday, she had to go back to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo to have the wires replaced. It was expected to be a quick procedure, there was a chance she may have been able to go home that night, or else sometime Friday. Same dumbfuck doctor as the first time, what does he do? The stupid motherfucker MISSES the goddamn heart AGAIN and AGAIN pokes and collapses her fucking lung. Now, at Monday morning, she's in ICU with an infection near her heart. They had to bring in a crash team Saturday, put chest tubes in, put tubes down her throat, all sorts of shit. As of last night, they have not no clue at all when she might be able to eventually be released and come home, they have no idea when it might be.

In two operations, procedures, whatever you want to call it, this same dumbshit doctor fucked it up both goddamn times, needing only to put the wires of the pacemaker on her heart, completely missed the fucking thing and proceeded to poke and collapse her lung.

But it gets better. Saturday morning, my uncle was there, he had stayed in the room all night. It's starting to get late morning, early afternoon, the doctor still has not been by once to check on things, so he's starting to get annoyed by that. He asks the nurse when the doctor is coming in, she says he was already in earlier that morning. Clearly she didn't realize my uncle had been in the room the entire goddamn night and morning. He calls her out on it, she's obviously surprised. He told her he had been in that room the entire night and all morning, only stepping out for one minute to take a piss, literally just steps down the hall. What does she say? "Oh, well the doctor came in while you were in the bathroom."

Really? Does she think we're fucking stupid? So not only is this doctor a fucking incompetent dumbfuck, but the nursing staff, at least that one specific nurse, either will blatantly lie straight to your face or is fucking stupid as hell.

Both my uncle and mom (it's their mother in the hospital) were there Saturday afternoon, both said the nursing staff were, naturally, just the absolute nicest they could possibly be. Yeah, of course they're being the absolute nicest they could possibly be. Between dumbfuck doctor (fucking up the same procedure twice, years ago and then this past Thursday) and dumbass lie to your face nurse, we have a fucking home run medical malpractice lawsuit against Mercy Hospitals and they're trying to save their asses and hope we'll not sue.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. :smh:

I'd sue the fuck out them. That is incompetence on an epic scale. Once is understandable (everyone makes mistakes), but twice is absolutely mindbogglingly dumb.

That's exactly what I've been saying. The first time, alright, it may have just indeed been an accident. But two times, with the exact same doctor, the exact same thing happens, the same lung and everything. And this time it's worse since she's now got an infection near her heart and is tubed all to hell in ICU. The first time she had to stay in the hospital for 3 days or so (for what was supposed to be a one day procedure), this time she's been in for four days now and they have no clue when she might be able to be released. Right now, we're not expecting any time this week.

And considering she's in her upper 80s, if not 90s (I can't remember for sure), it's not like she has a whole lot of strength to battle through this shit every time.

Now I have no say in the whole matter, though my uncle has had power of attorney for a couple years now since she's been suffering dementia and Alzheimer's for years now. But you damn well better believe I'm bringing up the words lawsuit and medical malpractice every time I can. Hell, I've already mentioned it two or three times earlier this morning.

If anything, the money that would be won in a medical malpractice lawsuit would completely cover the costs of any nursing home or home health care in the future for her, since she has been getting worse and worse mentally lately, and going into all this, the question was would she be allowed to come home or be ordered into a nursing home if she started acting up in one of her moments while in the hospital.

you have a case if you did sue. 2 fuck ups by the same doctor on the same procedure, and he's not checking up on her...he's not exactly showing a patient the proper care, nor does he know what he's doing.

if you do have a lawsuit, make sure you guarantee that your medical expenses and lawyer expenses are covered, plus the other amounts for future health care.

alzheimers and dementia suck. my Grandpa had em before he died. there was nothing worse for me, emotionally, than looking him in the eye and him not remembering who i was.

Yeah, this doctor has been a total idiot. There have been a couple of decent nurses. One nurse that yesterday let my mom and uncle stay in the ICU room with my grandma most of the afternoon. They only have certain hours you can visit (something like 10 to noon, 2pm to 4pm, 5pm to 7pm and 8pm to 10pm the last one of the night), but this nurse allowed them both to stay in the room with my grandma the entire afternoon. So there are some decent nurses working there.

Last night was another case of pathetic by this doctor. He was on the floor checking up on patients, my mom and uncle waiting for him to come in before they left, two hours later, doctor still hadn't come in. Nurses had no clue, they said sometimes he just checks the charts outside the room and moves on. Never once from morning to 9-10pm, did this doctor once stop in to check on things.

Now my grandma has to go in for a full, more intensive, intrusive surgery. While they called the whole thing with the pacemaker a procedure, this is full "knock your ass out" with general anesthesia surgery in an actual full surgery room. One of the wires they put in isn't laying on the correctly. So if my grandma moves too much or in a particular way, something could happen with this wire to send her into defib. So tomorrow they're taking out her chest tubes, then Thursday, she's going to head into surgery where they're going to crack her ribs and open her chest to get direct access to put the wires correctly in place.

So we're not sure what to expect going into this surgery. She's in her upper 80s/lower 90s in age, she's already naturally weakened due to age and just because she doesn't do as much anymore due to Alzheimer's and dementia. She's already been through a ton of shit since last Thursday, now, after a full week of laying in a hospital bed with little to no movement (they've kept her in the bed, hooked up to a catheter, they don't want her getting up at all), she will be going under general anesthesia and having her ribs cracked and everything else. If something goes wrong during the surgery Thursday (lets be honest, after the past two fuck ups in "simple procedures" by this doctor and this hospital, we're not exactly holding our breath here), god only knows what will happen. My aunt is coming in today from Baltimore to be up in Toledo these next couple days, since no one has any clue what will happen before, during and after the surgery.

After all this crap, I've sworn off Mercy Hospitals for life. I don't care if something happens to me and I'm laying there in the middle of the road right in front of a Mercy Hospital, hemorrhaging blood from a gaping head wound, I will refuse treatment if they try to take me to and treat me at a Mercy Hospital.

Florida woman allegedly stabs boyfriend after he farts in her face
Posted: May 14, 2013 3:37 PM EDT Updated: May 28, 2013 4:04 PM EDT

Deborah Ann Burns, 37, was arrested last week for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

And perhaps not surprisingly, deputies say alcohol helped fuel the argument.

The Immokalee woman told Collier County detectives that she stabbed her boyfriend of six years after an argument broke out while the two were watching a nightly television program.

Burns' boyfriend told deputies that they began arguing over money. They both got up and went into the kitchen.

That was when Burns said her boyfriend walked by and farted in her face, according to an arrest report.

According to the report, Burns confronted him about the fart and he became agitated, ordering her to shut up.

That's when deputies say the argument escalated and became physical between Burns and the 53-year-old boyfriend, Willie Butler. He allegedly chased her through the kitchen and threw a knife at her, which missed, according to the arrest report.

When authorities responded to a report of a possible stabbing, deputies found Burns' boyfriend standing front of his mailbox. He had cuts to his abdomen and left forearm.

While deputies were talking to him, they could smell a strong odor of alcohol from him.

He told authorities that Burns threw a kitchen knife at him, striking him in the abdomen. He then said she ran out of the house and returned shortly where another argument took place.

This time, Burns struck him with a stick in the left arm, causing another cut, according to court documents.

Burns' boyfriend made no mention of the alleged fart, but did tell deputies that if Burns returned, "he would kick her (butt) and take care of her."

Burns denied cutting Butler, according to the arrest report. Butler was so intoxicated and combative that deputies said they could not obtain a sworn statement from him.

Burns remains in custody on a $50,000 bond.

That's creepy? That sounds like your standard text/IM "dirty" conversation between two people. Hell, a chick I dated in college, we were sitting there texting back and forth like that while we were both working one day, describing what we'd do to each other. We hadn't yet had sex at the time, but that day of texting pretty well set the stage for the start of sex within the next week.

Whoever put all that together is SERIOUSLY overreaching with the whole attempt to label it "creepy" and "creep show". The only thing that could even remotely fit that description is the fact that he's married, having that conversation with some random chick, having been caught in a similar situation previously while in Congress. But even then, pfft, oh well. Adultery and cheating happens every single day in every single city in every single state, including active members of Congress from BOTH parties.

So they will just put them 2/$5 and people buy them up like crazy all because how they are presented. :D

I actually work for a large Grocery store in the south and I know for a fact this is true. I was a manager for about 5 years and we had a policy to put "sale signs" on items we had excess inventory on with the regular price. You would be amazed at how much it increases the sales of these items. You put items in the middle of the speedway and regardless of whether or not it is normal retail price people will impulse buy because they believe it to be on sale.

Finally. Had a fucking monsoon pop up out of nowhere yesterday evening around 5pm. Came roaring through, dumping a shit ton of rain. It left behind, just in my neighborhood, multiple limbs down, one full tree down across the road (leaving the road closed for most of the evening until it was finally cleared up) and left the road literally flooded above the ankles because all the storm drains were completely clogged and blocked up with leaves and crap.

The entire downtown ended up with no power. Our power flicked (live half a mile south of downtown), but ended up completely losing cable and internet all evening. Every channel, got the "this channel will be available soon" message on. So ended up spending the night watching Act of Valor on blu-ray and The Longest Day on DVD. Worked well enough. Things finally returning to normal today. Cable came back at some point. Internet just back in the last half hour.

And upon my return, in the very first thread I visit (this one), I see the validity of my avatar is still in full effect! :D :fp:

Well, that was a pretty good day. Got some free tickets from work for today's Toledo Mud Hens game at noon, down in the season ticket holder seats, right behind home plate, just three rows up from the field. Ended up sitting directly behind Detroit Tigers General Manager David Dombrowski and Assistant General Manager Al Avila.

May not have been one of the big star players or Jim Leyland, but you can't say every day that you met and talked with two of the top guys in the front office of a major league baseball club. Looked like they were getting a look at some Mud Hens players to possibly use as trade bait before the deadline.

On the grandmother in the hospital note, yet another fuck up. :fp: The nursing staff gave her a sedative last night at 10pm (according to them she was being restless), then apparently gave her a second sedative at 7am this morning. Two doses of sedative on the same shift, my uncle was furious. He was in the medical field in the military, albeit years ago, but he knows plenty to know when the nurses and doctors are repeatedly fucking up. The doctors all morning thought she was just tired and sleepy, it wasn't until late afternoon after my uncle got there, that he realized what the hell was going on and one of the doctor gave her something to counter the effects of the sedatives. Boy did she instantly perk up. Within minutes, was awake, was talking, ate some dinner, read the newspaper.

So she ended up sitting there half sleeping all day because the overnight shift nurses drugged her up with sedatives. They want her to have a breathing mask on at night while she's sleeping, which she doesn't like and I don't blame her. It's along the line of the mask of a CPAP machine. It's a big mask, it's bulky, it covers damn near the entire face. She's 90-something, I'm 27 and I would find that goddamn thing an annoying pain in the ass to keep on for multiple hours at a time. Thus, our current theory is the nurses didn't want to keep fighting with her over the mask (they said she was being "restless") and ended up giving her a sedative to keep her asleep and not fight with them over having the mask on.

So my uncle feels she was basically set back an entire day (at least), due to that fuck up. They haven't been able to do any physical therapy with her for a couple days, she was barely responsive to the doctors and nurses asking her questions all day until around 4pm when they gave her the medicine to counter the sedative. Now, she apparently has blood clots in her left arm and right leg that just showed up on ultrasounds in the last 24 hours.

Went in on Thursday the 18th for what was supposed to be a one day procedure, home by the 19th. It's now been nearly two weeks (with all of last week spent in the ICU), their "hopeful" release date if Wednesday, but all three of us are in agreement of fat chance in hell of that happening. She'll be lucky to get discharged by Friday at this rate, if not end up there for yet another weekend. And there's no consistency in the doctors. This morning alone, in a span of an hour while sitting in the hospital room, we had three different cardiologists, two different pulmonologists, two speech therapists (to make sure she was swallowing food and drink without any problems) and a respiratory specialist come in. It seems like when it comes to the cardiologists and the pulmonologists, we end up with a cycle of the partner of the partner of the partner of etc. coming in each new day to check on things. So, they have not done a single thing to discredit my theory that, at least at this one hospital, everyone they hire came dead last in their class at medical school. So many dumbass people pulling so many dumbass mistakes over and over cannot be an accident. :fp:

i would definitely file an official complaint. there's gonna be some shit load of medical costs for 2 weeks worth of care/drugs/coverage, on what should have been at the most a couple of days. offer to pay the costs for the few days that she was supposed to be there, but tell them that you're not responsible for their mistakes and that you shouldnt have to pay for them screwing up.

Does she need a CPAP? They generally do not put one on you unless you need it. They can tell from the O2 stats if breathing is labored during sleep, even without a full sleep study. I have been on a mask for 10 years. Most hospitals have different types of masks. I could never get used to a full mask but I have had no problems with a nasal mask. Reggie White might still be with us if he wore his. He had sleep apnea and refused to wear a mask. I realize that she is much older but if she refuses proper treatment it is hard to fault a nurse if that was the only option.

I tried CPAP for a while because I have severe apnea (stop breathing about 50 times an hour) but I just could not sleep with it. I had tried it for over a year, and was able to keep it on the whole night maybe twice.

Yeah, we're not at all happy. We've taken to where my uncle stayed in the room the entire night, my mom went up this morning and is going to be staying all day. Not sure what will happen tonight, if she'll just stay all night too or if my uncle will come back up for the overnight hours. At this point, with the care these dipshits have given my grandmother, we're not leaving her alone for more than an hour or two. We're keeping someone there in the room at all times.

Reggie White might still be with us if he wore his. He had sleep apnea and refused to wear a mask. I realize that she is much older but if she refuses proper treatment it is hard to fault a nurse if that was the only option.

It's not an actual CPAP mask. It's sized similar to a full CPAP mask, but it's just simply used for her to take breathing treatments, delivering the medicine through steam/air. She has a similar machine with a smaller mask that just covers the nose and mouth at home, but they keep strapping this full, head-sized mask on her in the hospital. It's not absolutely necessary for her to have it on constantly. Hell, they were asking her after only 10-20 minutes yesterday mid-morning if she wanted to take it off and that was alright, that was enough for now. And while they want her to try and keep it on all night, it's not required. They just want her to try. If she wants to take it off, she's supposed to be allowed to.

It's beginning to appear that the dumbshits on the overnight shifts just don't want to be bothered to get up off their asses. The overnight nurse when she was up in ICU, my uncle and mom took to calling her Nurse Ratched (from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) because she was about the same age and seemingly didn't give a fuck about things, she couldn't be bothered to come back and check on things. One night, my mom and uncle were in there, my grandma was having an issue with pain, so they pressed the call button. They had to press it three goddamn times. The first two times the nurse just turned it off from the nurse's station and never came back to check on things. Third time, she finally deemed it worthy of her time to get up off her ass and come back, only to be surprised to see my mom and uncle in there (apparently thinking it was only my grandma in the room). Now this is someone in ICU. Whether the patient was alone or not, there is no fucking reason it should take three times pressing the call button for the nurse and nearly an hour for the bimbo to finally make her way back to the room to check on things.

So while she isn't required to keep the mask on all night, they like her to try. Well, based on how things played out, we're under the theory that the night nurses just didn't want to deal with her all night, mask or no mask and just drugged her up with sedatives to keep her asleep all night. Regardless, whether she was restless or not, two fucking doses of sedative in one single shift is overkill. The dose sizes would be enough to put me under for 6-8 hours, and I weigh 250 pounds. She's in her 90s, tiny and I doubt she even weighs 100 anymore. If that sedative would have been strong enough to put a 250 pound person out for 6-8 hours, what do you think it'll do to a, maybe, 100 pound 90+ year old woman? Then do that to her twice in a period of 9 hours. Yeah, fucking ridiculous.

Then the day nurses lied directly to our faces in the morning. They were saying she was just tired and sleepy all morning because she had been up off and on most of the night, so she was simply tired that morning. It wasn't until nearly 4pm that we finally found out for the first time that they drugged her up with sedatives overnight. Like I said, as soon as the doctor gave her medicine to counter the sedative, within minutes she was alert, she was awake, she was sitting up eating, she ended up reading the paper, she could actually talk loud enough to hear her across the room, whereas before you had to be leaned over her bed to hear her.

Thankfully, I don't think we will have to worry about that again, because the doctor rescinded the prescription of that sedative from her file. So the nurses are no longer allowed to give her that stuff. Like my uncle said, she basically lost an entire day yesterday. They drugged her up overnight, she basically didn't do a damn thing but lay there sleeping until 4pm, because of her just laying there for the last day or two, she has now developed blood clots in her right leg and left arm. So her getting released by tomorrow is basically never going to happen. The day ended up being a complete and total waste and loss, and now it's gonna take at least another couple days to get her to the point of discharge. They take her one step forward, only to completely fuck something up, sending her straight back two or three steps. At this point, it's their own goddamn fault that she's still sitting in the hospital after nearly two weeks. They keep screwing shit up, they keep setting her back in her recovery. A one day procedure turned into two weeks (with one week spent in ICU). Yeah, nothing but massive fuck up after massive fuck up can cause that.

Well, my sleep cycle being what it is, being awake from evening, through the entire overnight, until early morning is coming in handy right now. Sitting in the lobby of one of the wings of the Heart Center at St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo right now. My grandma had a scare a couple hours ago, her oxygen levels dropped down into the low 70s. For her age and situation, she needs to be AT LEAST 90 to be considered normal. So made the drive up to Toledo with my mom at midnight.

Thankfully she's stable now, but they're out of options. She's constantly hooked up to a BiPAP machine, and due to tonight's scare, they have that thing pumping air maxed out at 100%. She's still only hovering around 80, so we're running out of options. They can't go higher than 100%, so the machine can't help her anymore than it already is. And a respirator is out of the question. She has already stated she doesn't want to be on one, after my grandfather lived on on for the final weeks of his life, and seeing firsthand what he went through with it.

So just sort of wait and see right now. My mom and uncle are both in the room right now, both trying to get some sleep, my mom especially since she's here at the hospital every day from mid-morning through 7 or 8pm, with my uncle here normally during the overnight hours. So between the room being mostly darkened, other than some light coming in from the hallway, and them sleeping, spending my overnight sitting down here in the lobby doing some reading, watching Sportscenter on TV and getting some work done on the laptop, now that we've discovered they have a public wifi set up here.

SmoothPancakes

Well, it's all over now. Her oxygen rate started falling again around 3:15, then her blood pressure also dropped big time, so they knew it was getting close to the end. Got alerted to it around 3:20 by a text from my mom to come back, shut down the laptop, packed up and headed back to the room. She ended up passing around 3:40. Went fast and very peacefully. She was asleep at the time, they had given her some morphine around 2am. She was taking some shallow breathes in her sleep, and then seconds later it was over.

Just got home from Toledo, putting everything back in its place after the sudden "grab and pack everything and hit the road" at 11:30 last night. This is one "night" (more like day for me) of sleep I'm looking forward to, get a couple hours without everything from the last few hours nonstop bombarding my mind.

Sorry for your loss Smooth. You and your family will be in my prayers.

I appreciate it man. It was hard right after. I suppose it was fitting though. Myself, and the rest of the family, were all standing around my grandpa when he died back in 1995, so I guess it's fitting that I was there with my mom and uncle at the end for my grandma 18 years later.

Definitely just glad it was quick. I've seen friends who lost family members who went slowly or painfully. Just glad she went quickly and painlessly in her sleep. Saved her from having to battle through pain at the end, as well as thankfully saved my mom and uncle from having to watch their mother go that way.

Now to deal with all the funeral stuff this week. Already called into work earlier to let them know that I won't be in for the next couple days. Still numb to everything right now. It was very tough emotionally for the half hour or so afterwards. Since then, it's just been numb to the feelings. I'm depressed, but just sort of sitting here right now. Watching whatever's on TV right now, reading ESPN when I wait to finally get tired enough to fall asleep. Just constantly thinking about everything.

I guess I've always sort of been this way, a delayed griever if you will. When my uncle Charlie, who I was very close to (the closest of him of all his nieces and nephews, and he was the closest to me of all my uncles), finally lost his battle with cancer back in 2008, I just sort of held all my emotions and feelings deep inside, showed no emotion during the stuff at the funeral home. It wasn't until the final night at the funeral home, when we were leaving for the final time before the funeral the next morning, that I finally just sort of broke down emotionally. It's sort of that way now. Just numb to it all right now, it'll no doubt hit me like a ton of bricks later this week sometime. I'm also a very private griever. In public or around friends or family, I'm usually the most emotionally in check of everyone, it's the middle of the night, when I'm by myself and start having all the various thoughts start to hit at once, that I start breaking down and losing it.

I appreciate it everyone. I'm definitely happy that she went peacefully and is in a better place now. The last week or so that she's been sitting in the hospital bed, she just looked miserable, constantly having to be hooked up to the BiPAP machine, with a giant mask strapped all over her head. So she finally gets to be at peace and not hooked up to a bunch of stuff.

Right now anger is the biggest issue for me. She went in on July 18th for the procedure to replace her pacemaker, only issues she had was Alzheimer's and dementia, and taking a breathing treatment at home every now and then when she felt the need to. She would read the paper everyday, watch TV, sit there at the table drinking her coffee. She walked into the hospital on her own two feet. Then the doctor screws up the procedure (for the second time in 5 years), punctures and collapses her lung, and she was just never really able to recover. Issue after issue kept popping up, blood clots, fluid around her heart and lungs, issues with her lung that had been punctured, breathing issues in the weeks after.

I just can't help but feel angry right now, that none of this necessarily had to happen. She may still have eventually passed due to respiratory failure, but I just can't help but feel like all of this happened right now all because of that one botched procedure, that otherwise, she would have been released the next day like was originally planned and would be home right now still reading the paper and drinking her coffee.

It'll be a long week though to go through the whole grieving process. Thursday is apparently a holy day, so the church can't do the funeral on that day. So things are getting bumped back a day instead, the viewing at the funeral home on Thursday and the funeral on Friday. So it'll be a full week to work through things. Thankfully family will start showing up. My aunt Kate will probably be here from Chicago either tonight or tomorrow. My aunt Laura and uncle Russ will get here from Maryland I think sometime tonight. My uncle and I both have to go up to Toledo this week and buy some suits for the funeral, so I guess he was talking about me and him going up together tomorrow and spending the day together. So they'll be around. Any my uncle Tom will be around each day, now that he's able to starting spending his nights back at home again sleeping.

So thankfully there'll be plenty of family around in the next day or two for support. I'll still be popping in on here throughout the week. With the viewing not until Thursday, right now there's not much I can do. My mom, two aunts and uncle Tom are still working on details, like the mass proceedings and flowers and everything else, that'll be tomorrow. They just met with the guy from the funeral home this afternoon. So at the moment not much I can do. So I'll still be stopping in just to spend some time keeping occupied and maybe get a few minutes away from things and thinking about everything.

Thanks again though everybody. It really does help and I appreciate it.

I appreciate it ryby. Thankfully she did. It was a much better way and glad she went painlessly.

Thanks everyone for the help this week. I won't be around much if at all today and tomorrow. Gonna be leaving shortly for visitation going on until 8pm tonight, and then a quick turnaround tomorrow with the funeral at 11am. So I may not really be around for anything until late tomorrow night or Saturday. But thanks for all the kind words, both in this thread and via PM. I appreciate it everyone. Thanks for everything.

Well, I can finally start decompressing after the last couple days. Got through the funeral, had a luncheon back at the church afterwards. Me and a couple other of the grandkids made a jailbreak for it after a while and got out while we could. So back home and relaxing for a bit. I went ahead and took off work tomorrow morning, after everything yesterday and today, so I can head out with everyone tonight and enjoy some drinks and stories for the final night everyone's in town. Otherwise, they'd be all out having a great time and I'd be home sleeping due to getting up at 2am for work. So my paycheck in a couple weeks will suck, but I'll make up the hours.

With as shitty as ESPN has become in their coverage in recent years (Brady this, Tebow that, Jets Jets Jets blow, and sucking knob of every fucking player they can attach their lips to, it'll be nice to get a change. Hopefully Fox Sports really can get it together well and be a true equal competitor to ESPN.

THE AWESOME STORY ABOUT A GROUP OF MEN WHO HAVE BEEN PLAYING A SINGLE GAME OF TAG FOR 23 YEARS

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/03/04/the-awesome-story-about-a-group-of-men-who-have-been-playing-a-single-game-of-tag-for-40-years/

Constantly looking over your shoulder, glancing under your car to see if there’s a body under there feels, as one person said, “like you’re in a Cold War epic.” Except, it’s much more benign than that — it’s an extreme, month-long game of tag that a group of men have been playing for the past 23 years.

The tag among the 10 men, now in their 40s living in the Pacific Northwest according to ESPN, started when they attended Gonzaga Preparatory School. It was resurrected when they graduated as a way to keep in touch. It even has a formal “tag participation agreement.”

There are three rules added into the agreement to the traditional play of tag, according to Patrick “Patty” Schultheis.

The game will only take place during the month of February.
There are no tag backs (retagging the person who just tagged you).
If you are asked if you’re it, you have to answer truthfully.
When you view the list of the professional jobs the competitors hold, it might be surprising to you that they maintain their young-at-heart attitude and continue to play the game. There’s a teacher at Gonzaga Prep, a tech executive, an aerospace engineer and even a Catholic priest.

“He is definitely exposed on Sundays,” one of the men said. Another called him a sitting duck. But all wonder if someone would really run up onto the alter while he was saying mass to tag him.

One of them says “maybe. I got tagged during my dad’s funeral mass.”

Just how intense does it get? There are costumes involved, like a “Village People” construction worker and another was a homeless guy. ”Joey T,” Joe Tombari, at one point in the video report is “coiled like a rattlesnake” in the trunk of Schultheis’s car ready to “fire out at him as soon as that trunk opens.”

ESPN’s video report has one of the players saying he thinks his target hurt his back while trying to evade the tag. “But it was worth it,” he said.

The Wall Street Journal profiled the bunch before the 2013 game began, reporting that alliances are formed and the wives even get recruited as spies (and are sometimes collateral damage):

“You’re like a deer or elk in hunting season,” says Joe Tombari, a high-school teacher in Spokane, who sometimes locks the door of his classroom during off-periods and checks under his car before he gets near it.

One February day in the mid-1990s, Mr. Tombari and his wife, then living in California, got a knock on the door from a friend. “Hey, Joe, you’ve got to check this out. You wouldn’t believe what I just bought,” he said, as he led the two out to his car.

What they didn’t know was Sean Raftis, who was “It,” had flown in from Seattle and was folded in the trunk of the Honda Accord. When the trunk was opened he leapt out and tagged Mr. Tombari, whose wife was so startled she fell backward off the curb and tore a ligament in her knee.

“I still feel bad about it,” says Father Raftis, who is now a priest in Montana. “But I got Joe.”

The last week of the month is so intense as no one wants to be left tagged — one guy traveled 300 miles to nab a target.

“You absolutely do not want to be it for 11 months. That is a huge yolk of shame,” Mike Konesky said.

Again, these guys are in their 40s. So how long are they thinking this sometimes cross-state and often physical game will continue?

Joey “Beef” Caferro said he expects to be chasing people down the hall in a wheel chair.

“I give credit to the game for letting me stay in touch with people whose friendships I cherish,” Konesky said.

Heh. That's certainly one way to keep in touch with your friends when they are so far away.

They must have rules on retagging though because if someone jumped out of the trunk to tag me, I would just immediately tag them back and run into my house. :D
