it's too long for a discussion here but i am a big fan of "The Fair Tax" which would eliminate the IRS from the Fed government and send them all to the unemployment line. It simply replaces all income/corporate/social security/etc.... taxes and replaces it with a Federal Sales take for the initial sale of new goods.

no more tax day; no more audits; no more under the table employees avoiding taxes; etc.....

IF the unemployment rate goes up simply b/c of cuts to an overpowered federal government agency I'm all for it. Contrary to popular belief IRS/government employees serve the people (we do not serve them).

If the people find a way to generate THE SAME amount of revenue to the government (not counting savings from not having to pay IRS employees; benefits; etc...) w/o requiring their services so be it one less form of tyrannical Government to worry about.

Sitting here in pain from having a pin inserted in my second toe right foot.

The injury was kind of crazy, I was in a dunk tank for our little league and it was colder outside, like 65 degrees and 51 degree water!!! I was so numb that when I got out of the water I was numb. After a few moments I realized my toe was very sore, swollen, and bruised already. I figured I had broken my toe.

So now two weeks later on Friday last week I finally go to the Doctor and get some X-rays. The doctor was kind of shocked that they were looking at a toe with a normal finger injury. I had a boutonnière deformity in my toe. They said they need to have surgery quickly on Monday to try see if they could do it without putting a pin in it. When I take medicine like Percocet, oxycodone, well basically any Acetaminophen it is basically like I just took something that makes you wired and wide awake for hours. (Trying not to show my younger days but I'm failing miserably).

I haven't slept for more then 30 min to an hour since my surgery.

Not much to the "story". We got engaged Thanksgiving 2006. I was living in St. Louis and she was finishing up medical school in Chicago. She graduated and we decided to move together in RI. Got there in June 2007 and just to keep things simple we went ahead and merged the bank accounts and wanted to be on her excellent health coverage so we went to the Courthouse and got married in a judge's chambers with two random court employees at witnesses.

LOL the Judge was STUNNED a Dr. and Lawyer would get married and have NOONE there for the wedding. In any event, we scheduled the church wedding for the next June. Pastor back "home" in KY was like o.k. here is your Kentucky wedding license form and we just said "Oh don't worry about that we will take care of it when we get back to Rhode Island."

NO ONE in either of our families knows the story. I suspect my mother and her mother would be crushed if they learned it for some odd reason.

We dated for a LONG time b/c we never lived in the same town (until we moved/married in RI). We met in college but went to different colleges (:Murray_State: :Southeast_Missouri_. I went to law school :Saint_Louis: she went to medical school at :Illinois: in Chicago. We knew we would some day for a long time but what was the point living hours away while we were both in school.

Well, another derecho is expected to come plowing through the area tonight. :fp:

It's not often NW Ohio, Chicago and the rest of the Great Lakes ends up in a High risk area by the Storm Prediction Center. That's usually reserved for the plains and the south during tornado season. And with as shitty as our utilities are around this area, I'm gonna figure we have maybe 5 to 1 odds of losing power tonight. I suppose the silver lining is that unlike last June with that derecho, we're only going to have temperatures in the 70s after today, where as last year we have to deal with never ending goddamn 100 degree days.

Yeah that was the DUMBEST opening I have EVER heard of at a trial. :smh: Also an all woman jury + woman judge was STUPID on part of the defense it's like this trial is rigged for the prosecution. Saddest part is Zimmerman is probably going to go to jail for the rest of his life when all the facts suggest he acted in self defense.

Well guys today I passed the pre test for the asvab is a few steps away from Enlisting into the US Navy. It's taken me like since Feb to pass this darn test but finally done so. Now I need to lose about 10 more pounds before I can head up to meps and take the real thing. Life is just gonna get better once I get in !



just on a short note I've lost 25 pounds, I started at 212 pounds and made my way clear down to 186 pounds! A big jump for me. So just 10 more pounds to go .. I'm pretty excited to get it and travel more within the Navy.

Cecil in LA has been witness to murder, several suicides and has housed TWO serial killers

WHEN the “funny-tasting” tap water in Hotel Cecil flowed black, guests saw it as just another annoyance – the truth was far more horrifying.

The water they had been drinking and washing in was contaminated by the ROTTING FLESH of a young woman missing for three weeks.

The remains of 21-year-old Canadian student Elisa Lam were found floating in one of the four 10ft water towers on the roof of the budget hotel in Los Angeles. Ahead of this gruesome discovery on February 19, guests had complained of weak water pressure, and there had been a flood in a fourth floor room.

Then one visitor noted that the water had gone a weird colour.

Sabrina Baugh, 27, a piano teacher from Plymouth, said: “The water had a funny taste.

“When you turned the tap on, the water was black first then went back to normal. We thought it was just the way it was there.” The plumbing has since been cleaned by specialists.

And questions about whether the water is now safe to drink are met with a curt “Yes” by the receptionist.

But then staff of this 600-room hotel near Skid Row, where a tiny room with shared bathroom costs £43 a night, are used to hiding the Cecil’s murky secrets.

Since opening its doors in 1927, the hotel of horrors has been witness to a murder, several suicides, drug and domestic abuse incidents, and has housed TWO serial killers.

The most infamous of these is Richard Ramirez, whose rape and murder sprees in the mid-80s saw him dubbed “The Night Stalker”.
These days he resides on Death Row in California’s San Quentin State Prison after being found guilty of 13 counts of murder, five attempted murders, 11 sexual assaults and 14 burglaries in 1989.

But back in 1985, when room rates at the Cecil were £9.28 a night, Ramirez used the hotel as a base to plot his sickening attacks.

Given the Cecil’s dark past, it is no wonder it is a stopping point on one of local firm Esotouric’s more ghoulish sightseeing trips.

Kim Cooper, who runs Esotouric with her husband Richard Schave, says: “Ramirez would come in through the back alley, which you can see off 7th Street, covered in blood at night.

“Skid Row and nearby neighbourhoods were such dangerous places then that he could show up reeking of blood, take his clothes off in the alley and go up to the 14th floor in his pants. It’s chilling.”

Several years after Ramirez checked out, another killer checked in. In 1991, Austrian author Jack Unterweger got a room claiming he was researching LA’s red light district.

During his five-week stay he strangled three prostitutes with their own bra straps and dumped their bodies nearby.

On June 29, 1994, after being sentenced to life for nine murders, Unterweger committed suicide.

Kim, 46, reveals: “He hanged himself using exactly the same ligature he had created out of the bras of the women he killed.


“It was his message to the authorities — ‘You were right, but you’ll never punish me’.”

Other ghoulish episodes in the Cecil’s history include the 1964 murder of Goldie Osgood, known as the “pigeon lady of Pershing Square”, who was strangled in her room.

In October 1954 Helen Gurneee leapt from a seventh floor window and landed on the hotel marquee.

In 1962 Julia Moore jumped to her death from the eighth floor. while Pauline Otton jumped from the ninth floor and landed on a pedestrian 90ft below. Both died.

Now the mystery of Elisa Lam is added to the death list.

CCTV from the hotel lift on January 31 shows Elisa acting strangely, pressing buttons for several floors, peering into the corridor then retreating to a corner of the lift.

There are no security cameras on the roof. But she would have had to go to the top floor, climb a staircase, pass a locked door, turn off an alarm and take a ladder to reach the water tank platform.

The cause of death is unknown. LAPD have not ruled out crime or a “very, very strange accident”.

As two 21-year-old female guests, who do not wish to be named, hear Elisa’s fate they can say just one thing: “Can we get our money back?”

I'm in Portage it's up north about 10 miles East of Gary. The theater is abut 10 miles East of Portage, other then this one not sure where the next closest one is.
They seem to play a lot of family moves, every once in a while they may show a rated R move but not to often. It's a nice place to go from time to time.

No, I didn't even know they where there. But looking at the map it wouldn't be to hard to find only about a 30 min. drive from here.

I had an old drive in movie theater in the town I grew up about 10 minutes from my house. They showed movies a week after a the initial release and for much cheaper than the movie theater. We used to go all the time in the summer. Great hamburgers and Real Cherry Coke. :nod:

Yeah. They just have nothing better to show. Seems like Independent filmmakers just aren't giving them the rights to their films as much as they used to.

My townhouse currently sits on top of an old drive in theatre which was demolished about 9 years ago. There is however a new one that opened up in it's place about 90 blocks from where I now live. Count me in as a person who lives the whole drive-in experience.

I actually asked my wife (girlfriend at the time) to marry me at the drive in. :D We were about to watch the movie Stardust and had just watched the movie Ratatouille. Good ol' 2007.
