Ah, alright. That, I honestly don't know. If anything, you could always give Sony a call or go on their online chat if they have one (I prefer the chats over phone calls as I don't have to risk getting someone with an impossible to understand accent), and see if they'll cancel it and either completely refund (since it just re-upped today) your money or give a prorated refund.

Well, that explains now why I still hadn't received a response to my PM I sent him last night. Honestly, sort of sad to see someone get permabanned out of all that crap (even LS), especially after I had put the time into that PM and was fully set on burying the sword if he would do so, but creating a second account to circumvent a three day ban was a stupid move. But, I guess at least now I don't have to worry about him continuing taking shots at me in the future and potentially adding on to the infraction I received for my posts from last night.

My friend's little brother was killed in an accident this weekend. I'm not exactly sure, but he was about 22. I don't really know what happened yet. I think he was in a car accident and was in the hospital for 24-36 hours before he died. Terrible to see a young person gone like that.

Day 3 of the most horrible back pain I've ever had in my life. I feel like a fuckin' old man walking around with this pain and it fuckin' sucks. Went to the ER yesterday (after thinking it was just another minor pain and trying to sleep it off - horribly unsuccessful which resulted in 5 hours of tossing and turning in agonizing pain as I attempted to get comfortable before getting 2 hours of restless sleep) and, after looking it up on the internet and thinking I had a slipped disk in my back because of the symptoms (something that requires surgery most of the time), I'm told it's just a pretty painful tweaking of my lower back muscle and that I should be fine after a few days. I'm given prescription for pain medicine and a muscle relaxer and I'm sent home.

It's so weird to not even do anything and fuck up my back. Talk about an indicator that I'm fuckin' getting old...

A 72-year-old Teaneck, New Jersey resident was taken into custody by police last night after he reportedly aimed a gun at a neighbor who farted outside his door.

Daniel Collins and the unidentified victim, 47, live in the same apartment complex, and had apparently been feuding for "some time" over "noise complaints" prior to yesterday's incident.

According to Det. Lt. Andrew McGurr, Collins snapped and pulled out a handgun after "hearing [his neighbor] pass gas in front of his apartment door." He denied brandishing a weapon, but upon searching his vehicle, police officers uncovered a .32-caliber Taurus revolver under the front passenger seat.

No, not taking an inhibitors or beta blockers. I've been tested for high blood pressure in the past (spent 8 hours at the hospital my senior year of high school going through a whole battery of tests for some issues at the time, one after the other, wandering around watching TV and reading magazines while waiting to report to my next test or next checkup every 30 or 60 minutes), but I've never been diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Now, my dad has high blood pressure and has been taking medication for it for the past year or so. I have no idea of something like high blood pressure is heredity and genetic, so not sure if him having a history of it could mean I have it too.

And thinking about, we need to find an M.D. somewhere that plays NCAA or Madden and get them on here. :D We already have a resident lawyer, now we need a resident physician. :D

But I'm posting it here because of this jaw-dropping piece of the story:

On his first day, in 1993, he is given a clipboard and assigned to a work station on a folding table at the back of the room. He's handed a 3DO console and told to play Wing Commander missions and "rat out bugs." Smith knows the missions inside and out already. He was a big software pirate before joining up with Origin. He's played all of the Wing Commander games. He's such a fan, in fact, he doesn't realize he's playing a broken game. He just thinks it's more challenging, which to him is more fun.

"There was a break point in the code where if the number of ships that ever came into an action sphere ever exceeded the memory, it would just crash," Harvey said. "So at the very end of that project, to fix a bug, one of the programmers, instead of fixing the bug and telling the designer, 'No you can't use five types of ships, you can only use four,' he just turned off that check in the code."

The programmer's shortcut means that the game will not crash, but it will also not display the ships. In the game's story, the enemies have discovered cloaking technology, rendering their ships "invisible" to the player. Smith's 3DO, struggling to display the variety of ships, but prevented from crashing and shutting down, simply stops rendering ships. To Smith, they appear invisible. He believes they are cloaked.

"We're flying these missions where we're fighting invisible ships and the only thing you can see is if the AI uses the afterburners, because those are shared between all the ships. They all have the same afterburners. So periodically you would see the afterburners jet on.

"One day, one of the programmers was in there and he was like, 'What the fuck are you guys doing?' And we're like, 'We're fighting the cloaked Kilrathi ships; what are you talking about?' That's the way QA was at the time ... we would just throw ourselves at the wall until we solved the problem."

My first experience with buying a new washer and dryer has been a pain in the fucking ass. The washer is perfectly fine, but the dryer is taking four cycles to dry anything. A technician came out and said that the apartment vents are clogged, so maitenance cleared them out this week and I ran a load of laundry last night. STILL took four cycles to get the fucking load dry. So I called again today and he told me to run a load with the vent tube pulled out of the back of the dryer, if it dries then it's still the apartment's fault, if it doesn't then they'll replace it.

Second, it's clear that no one had told the testers anything about that issue. Hell, if the developer had told anyone that he had done that, it would have been fixed immediately. You're right that if the testers had been told, it wouldn't be a funny story. The larger issue is that the programmer chose to do that. That's what made my jaw drop.

Yeah, we lost power here in town yesterday afternoon (not even 5 minutes into the storm and bam, instant black in the house, all with a tornado warning in the county to our south, rotation in the storm not even 15 miles to our south, and the last couple radar scans making it appear that the rotation was moving northeast towards us), but came back on after only two hours. Many other areas around here are still without power (well over 10,000 without power in Paulding and Putnam counties), entire cities in the dark, and some recent estimates are they might not even see power again for at least 5-7 days.

While it was a giant, widespread event with this super derecho, it cut through sections of Ohio while leaving others untouched. The six county area in NW Ohio got hammered, while most of the rest of northern Ohio got nothing more than a breeze or mild wind. Columbus and mid-Ohio got hammered, SE Ohio down around West Virginia got hammered. I think Cincinnati area ended up ok. So it pretty much cut a swath through the middle of Ohio from NW Ohio, through the middle and SE Ohio into West Virginia and parts of Pennsylvania, before heading for DC and the east coast like a bat out of hell.

I looked up some traffic numbers around release time last year that showed TGT had passed them. That site has limited lurkers, new members, etc. Just the same old crew bellyaching. $1500 may not be worth it, without an overhaul.

Sadly, the temptation to pre-order '13 is starting to rise again. I had, originally, gotten the $45 pre-order that Amazon had done briefly a while back, but then I decided to just be done with my Xbox completely and cancelled my order.

Truthfully, it's the fact that the CPU is a pushover unless I increase the difficulty of the game more (and thus have to cheese the hell out of it to win because I'm forcing the CPU to be super human to stay with my abilities) and, I just don't have the time and patience to deal with ODs anymore.

Combine that with the fact that I have progressively grown bored of the series more quickly with each iteration and it comes down to the fact that I just can't justify paying for the game anymore when I'm only going to play it for a month or two, at most, and then move on.

Ahh, true, I didn't think about that, that it might be used for other stuff right there. But they still need to do something in the future. Someone could have been injured pretty bad (if those people that got caught in the open and were sliding back and forth with the tables and chairs weren't already injured) from all those chairs, bar stools, tables, etc flying past them or over them. That was really dangerous there if you got caught in the open.

Like you, it looked fun at first, but as the video progressed, man that looked dangerous as hell. Ram, it's extremely aggravating when someone gives you a link to answer your question, yet you're too lazy to click on it and/or read it. If you go to the link that SmoothPancakes gave you, the very first result gives you answers to all of life's questions. His link also points out that if you took 10 seconds to type in 'what's folding@home ?' into Google, it would give you the answers you're looking for.

There are some posters that I still have a bad taste in my mouth because they would ask questions that were easily answered by either their textbook or the Internet, yet they'd ask for help on a forum. The problem with you people all sucked into the internet age is you dont know where to understand that the info is not the answer. I want his perspective of why and what he's doing with it.Because it's a way to contribute to something positive when my PS3 would otherwise be shutdown or idle. It's the same reason that I used to run SETI@home on my home PC, and tried to get it installed on every system in the Ohio State Computer Science dept. Hell, those videos don't even get all that many views. Again, these are just some examples of what frustrate me and they frustrate others. Looking back over your posts, I imagine you'll see quite a few replies that are asking what you're talking about or :fp: or something else that just there to signify that you're posting non-sense. I've not said anything before because as mentioned previously... you're a nice enough guy, but enough is is enough. It's time you became aware of this because it's clear that everyone's subtle attempts to clue you in have not worked.

And no, none of this personal for me. But as a founder of this site, and speaking for other members that already tonight have said "right on" in regards to these posts, I'm aiming to improve the site and make it something I enjoy participating in. Again G basically takes the words out of my mouth. :D I definitely agree, me and Mors come off as negative at times. That's mainly because I'm a blunt person. I don't sugarcoat my comments and opinions. I'll tell someone straight up my thoughts or opinions on this or that. I've always been a blunt person, I'll always be a blunt person. Am I always negative, definitely not. In fact, I'd almost say I'm either equal positive and negative, or maybe even slightly more positive than negative. I'll help out with questions in various threads, help with feedback, give answers to stuff, and help out some of the new posters. I'm always happy to give information when actually requested (see the Service Academy Recruiting thread that souljahbill started, and in which Jeff directly addressed a question to me and typed out a thought behind the question, instead of just asking "why...how" like ram, and in return, I took the time to pull up multiple sources of information and make a long and informational post in response to his question).

When the need to be blunt and (if needed) negative arises, then I will do so. Little Steve was one example. I tried to be tactful and let stuff go, it didn't work. Eventually, being blunt and over the head with a shovel with him was what it took. Would all that have worked and he become a contributing member over time in the future, we'll never know now because he circumvented his temp ban and got a permanent boot. I would have liked to see what kind of member he would become in the future after that night, but stuff happens, I won't lose sleep over it.

Along with being blunt, I also know when to just not say a damn word. There have been threads and things that I would start typing out a response to something, either stop midway through or type the entire post, and after rereading it and thinking about it, back out and not post it, either because it may have caused arguments (PSU thread) or my intention with the post would have missed it's target. I'd say, this week alone, there are probably 10 different posts that I never made because of various reasons, backing out and not posting it and going on about my business.

Part of the friction between me and ram in the past is exactly what the last 24 hours of posts have been about. I've been blunt before when trying to explain this or that to ram in the past, and all I get is "lol...LOL...:D...why...how come...I don't care...oh well..." Like G, it's irritating and annoying. Take last night, I didn't even know what Folding@Home was, I don't have a PS3 and hadn't heard of it before. Instead of sitting here asking why, why, how, what for, why, I took a whole 10 seconds to type PS3 Folding@Home into Google and had multiple links explaining what it was for and what it did. Bingo, I had my answer and didn't sit here asking repeated questions about it, expecting someone else to do the legwork for me (the main reason I posted the LMGTFY link in response to ram's "what is that" question).

It's one thing to address a question specifically to someone about a specific topic and give a reason behind your questions (I directed and addressed a question to Jeff just a bit earlier tonight about tricking the CPU into scheduling 12 games for teams when some teams seem to end up with 11 games every season, because from his post, he sounded like he knew exactly what to do and so I had a valid reason to expect whatever answer he may give me, would be better explained and detailed than any answer I may find in a Google search), it's another thing to just sit there asking "why...why...how...how come...why..." and then turn around and say "oh well I don't care, just wondering, just asking", or whatever it is exactly that ram says.

between last night and now, i've literally restarted my computer about 75 times.

somehow, adobe flash player started downloading by itself during an online game i was playing....which was weird. so i popped open MSE just to be sure, but that said that its service had stopped.....which was weird again. so i went to microsoft's website and got redirected to a random shopping ad. at that point, i figured that i had caught something.

downloaded avast, did a boot scan with that, but in the process, it messed up something in the registry to make my computer restart ever 5 minutes. :fp: just got done wiping the hard drive and reinstalling vista.
