Yeah the "deals" haven't been as good this year as the past few but the economy has "recovered" somewhat from where we were at the height of the recession. I finally broke my wife down and she got me a Samsung PN59D7000 on Black Friday. I had my eye on it and a Panasonic (TCP-55VT30) and after I looked at them both at Best Buy in store I went home and surfed the net like a mad man trying to find the best deal on either set. I wasn't surprised when the Best Buy manager that I spoke with flat out told me "we don't price match on Black Friday" and then proceeded to immediately walk away and try to sucker someone else into overpaying for a t.v.

I'll set the over/under on Best Buy surviving at 4 years (unless they change and actually start competing with online retailers).

How much are you looking to spend Hawkeyeguy? (if you don't mind asking I'll keep my eye out as price points are always key) Also what type of t.v. are you looking for (size, plasma/lcd/led, etc...)?

The kind doesn't matter (it'll be going in the mancave) Anywhere from 50-55" and as for price, you tell me what you find and we'll talk. :-) (I would like at least 3 HDMI imputs though)

I have it myself and love it. Dell used to sell it for around $700 and provide free shipping but I can't find it on their site anymore.

Well for < $1K CNET recommends Panasonic TC-P50ST30 which looks like it is going for around $900. It MSRP's at $1500.

Here is a complete list of CNET's best HD 50"-55" sets.

I personally got the Samsung PN59D7000 which has a 51" model that is going for $1200 right now (MSRP $1900). I also heavily considered getting the Panasonic TC-P55VT30 which would fit your 55" guideline. It is going for a little over $1700 right now (MSRP $2500).

From what I can tell though the price range is the key. Most of the t.v.s seem to have roughly the same % off of the MSRP at this point so it's really a matter of how much you want/can spend for a set.

I can't possibly not continue to recommend the Philips brand of LCD TVs. I have a 47inch that's been nothing but awesome for me for 3 years now. GREAT blacks and excellent sound quality. Makes a great mancave TV/PC monitor.
