Simply put. Sting's signing means nothing towards the growth of other wrestlers. He'll probably be on TV less than Lesnar has been, and Lesnar won't be back until the summer most likely.

JBHuskers

From what I'm reading, it'll be likely that Sting only has one, maybe only a couple matches. Might be used in a GM type of role.

I don't understand how this isn't somebody's theme in the WWE yet. When I hear it all I can picture is a heel RKO.

WWE is cutting costs, so licensing new music isn't something they're doing right now. That's why you see generic in-house music for new themes of Dean Ambrose, Cesaro, Seth Rollins, Rusev, etc.

Definitely. I'm thinking more CM Punk if he came back as a heel again. But then again, CM Punk took This Fire Burns by Killswitch Engage. Orton wanted it, actually came out to it once or twice, but the WWE thought it suited Punk better and Orton wasn't pleased.

When I actually listened closer to the words, it seemed more like heel Punk. But I will always identify Punk with This Fire Burns.

Which is weird, because I would have told you to the end of time that he used This Fire Burns in ROH. I would have sworn to it. But when I went back and watched the very matches I knew him from, he certainly did not. I don't know how he got so inherently connected to This Fire Burns in my head, but he sure as hell did.

Rey Mysterio killed a man (http://news.yahoo.com/mexico-lucha-libre-wrestler-dies-hit-ring-172311963.html)

The son of a Mexican wrestling legend died early Saturday from a blow suffered in the ring, the Baja California state prosecutor's office said.

Pedro Aguayo Ramirez, known as Hijo del Perro Aguayo, fell unconscious on the ropes, apparently after receiving a flying kick from fellow wrestler Oscar Gutierrez, known as Rey Misterio Jr., according to video of the match in a municipal auditorium in Tijuana.

The match continued for almost two minutes before other participants and the referee realized Aguayo was seriously injured and tended to him.

He was taken to a hospital a block away and died about 1:30 a.m., prosecutor's spokesman Raul Gutierrez said.

The state prosecutor's office said it has opened an investigation into possible manslaughter. The company that reportedly organized the event, The Crash, couldn't be reached for comment.

Yeah, it was a damn good program. Well worth the money. I don't know if it would have been worth $70 for the PPV, but it was well beyond worth the $10 for WWE Network. I really hadn't planned on subscribing, but after getting caught up in the hype while reading some things online at work Saturday morning, I said screw it and paid the money.

I still haven't really kept track of wrestling in a couple years, and have to learn some of the lesser known names (I only knew maybe half of the Andre the Giant Battle Royal participants by sight), but I may have to look into following along again. Takes me back to my childhood days, watching every week on TV with friends, going to house shows with friends when they were being held somewhat close nearby.

Oh, between this thread, friends on Facebook and elsewhere, I heard plenty about how horrendous the build-up was. But it was a damn good program. Even during the Kickoff, the Tag Team Fatal Four Way and the Battle Royal, those were pretty good, entertaining matches.

After tonight, I'm doing something I haven't done in years, I've got my DVR set to record Raw tomorrow night and Smackdown on Thursday. See if I can get back into the weekly shows, now that I'll be able to actually watch the PPVs without having to pay out the ass every month for them.

Matt has returned from the sick bug, and we talk about a ton of stuff on episode 11. Matt attended everything during WrestleMania weekend, so we cover that, along with the current week of WWE and Impact Wrestling. There are also some top stories that we cover including Steve Austin's heat with the WWE, Taz leaving Impact Wrestling, and Daniel Bryan being pulled from the Euro Tour. Finally, we give our Extreme Rules predictions for this Sunday's pay per view....

I would like to see Lesnar to use his rematch at the next pay per view. How long was he suspended for. Signs a new contract then gets suspended doesn't make sense

The suspension is a storyline to keep Lesnar off of TV because his contract only calls for probably 20-30 dates per year. He'll be back leading up to Summerslam probably.

I just watched last night's RAW on DVR. That was a pretty damn good night. I like heel New Day, they're more enjoyable as heels. Neville is fun as hell to watch, hopefully he gets more wins down the road here as he keeps racking up matches against the top guys. A hell of an introduction to the big time by Sami Zayn. Still trying to figure out if his shoulder injury was legit or kayfabe.

Looking forward to the Fatal 4-Way. Only mistake was having Orton in the picture, could have had a Triple Threat between the old Shield members. Though I suppose that could always be a storyline over the next PPV or two after Payback if Orton falls out of the title picture.

A bit tired of the Authority and hopefully it comes to an end in the coming months (with the never ending back and forth with Kane causing it).

Almsot certain that was the point of The New Day the whole time, making them overly positive to drive the crowd to hate them then slowly turn them heel. They've been great.

Neville is insane, and same for the debut of Zayn. We did some research after recording the podcast and we think it's kayfabe. And god I hope so.

I like that Orton is into it. Save The Shield only for WrestleMania. Plus you can get a old school triple powerbomb on Orton spot too I bet.

Yeah, watching while they were positive, I didn't like or care for them. Since they've slowly gone heel, I'm enjoying them and am perfectly content with them being Tag Team champs. Of course, I also want to see the Lucha Dragons in the mix again, who have been quite noticeably absent from matches lately.

Neville and Zayn are definitely insane. The moves they can pull off, damn! There has not been a single match involving Neville that I was not fully entertained. Zayn is gonna be the same way I can tell. Question will be when they make him full time, since they were saying he has a NXT championship match in two weeks. So it's likely he's not gonna move up full time right this moment. And I certainly hope it's kayfabe too. It didn't seem like any of the ordinary move or landing that he appeared to injure his shoulder on. And he still had moments after that during the match that he was able to pull off moves despite the supposed injury.

That's a good point. An old school triple power bomb would be pretty sweet. And certainly not doubt this would be the last time we see Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose in a championship match together. I'm glad they're giving Ambrose a boost after he has been sort of lingering around between the fued with Harper and after it. Finally boosting him up the ladder.

My guess is they play the injury angle where Owens destroys him again and he takes time off then shows up on the main roster a month or two later. He doesn't need to beat Owens in NXT, make it a long road to try to beat him on the main roster.

As for Ambrose, totally agree. His feud with Rollins was the best thing going in the WWE last fall. He's been my favorite wrestler since I found out he was getting called up as I have followed his career in FCW and the indies before. His "debut" was actually at a WrestleMania event where he confronted Mick Foley as a fan, and that was supposed to lead to a match, but unfortunately Foley couldn't be cleared to wrestle.

That's true. If Owens follows him up, they can keep the feud going on the main roster. I actually read some comments suggesting that as an idea, let those two keep going at it even after making the jump from NXT.

Yeah, Ambrose has seriously grown on me these last couple months as I've gotten back into wrestling. His matches are always great and his fast and loose lunatic style of wrestling makes every match fun to watch. Definitely glad he's finally getting a boost and hopefully he's kept in the title picture for a while and creative doesn't go and make this just a once off or something.

It drives me insane that you guys are talking about at least four different former RoH wrestlers and I don't know any of them without looking them up because of WWE changing their name.

I was never really a fan of El Generico in terms of his storylines, but he could put on a good match. Steen was good too.

It's funny that we've, yet again, gotten to the point where WWE is full of RoH wrestlers.

I'm surprised you liked the tag match, that was only 5 minutes long and seemed horribly rushed.

It was a letdown as it was supposed to be a big PPV like past years.

The MITB match itself was solid, but not special. I loved the main event, but some thought it was too long.

Owens v. Cena II was match of the year again for the 2nd month in a row. I'm still leaning towards the first match being a little better though, but damn they stole the show again.

Oh it was horribly rushed, no doubt. I just mention it because I've enjoyed watching PTP recently when they've been given match time. As much as I've enjoyed heel New Day, after the push PTP were given at EC, I'm totally cool with seeing them get the titles. That was the only reason I mentioned it, just because of them being given the titles. Otherwise, yeah, that match was woefully short and completely rushed. PTP should have been given a better match to win the titles in, but for me, hey, they won so I'll count it.

I'm still undecided on whether EC or last night was the best of the two Owens/Cena matches. Both were by far the star matches of both PPVs. Owens/Cena should have been the main event match last night.

As for the main event, it definitely had its holy shit moments, but the whole murdering Ambrose sequence just dragged it down from as good as it could have been. That whole sequence really killed the crowd.

MITB wasn't bad, but damn they really gotta figure out how to have the action continue while focusing on one matchup. If all they wanted to 1 on 1 battles the entire match, just make it 1 on 1. Instead you have people get thrown out of the ring and then just lay there playing dead for 5 minutes so two new people can share the spotlight in the ring.

Someone on OS, who was there live said it best. "Needs to be booked like a Royal Rumble, where there is obviously a "main attraction", but the rest of the guys in the ring are still at the very least punching each other or doing some basic wrestling moves."

Matt on the podcast made a good point. PTP may be keeping them warm for Harper & Rowan.

I'm going back and forth on that too for Cena and Owens. Right now I'm leaning on the first match. Before our awards in December, I'll have to re-watch both.

Lots of differing opinions on the main event. It was long, but to me it didn't feel long. To Matt, it was too long. I loved the old school psychology. Doesn't hurt that my favorite wrestler is in there either.

The MITB match doesn't need a format change there are several top matches for this average bout.

Ooh, I didn't think about that. I forgot that Harper & Rowan are waiting in the background. Matt may be right there. Give PTP the titles for a month or two and then have Harper & Rowan take over at SummerSlam or something.

Yeah, I'll have to go back and re-watch both as well. They were damn good, both top 2 matches of the year by far. It's gonna be a tough call either way.

I knew the main event would be long when they were starting it at 10:20. I figured we'd have a solid 35 minutes. It didn't feel like it was too long to me, just could have shortened or skipped the whole murdering Ambrose sequence. It completely killed the crowd and killed the end of the match and it just seemed to drag on. The rest of the match was good otherwise.

As for MITB match, no, it doesn't need a format change, they just have to find a way to keep the other guys active. They don't have to make it like a Royal Rumble, but make it so that others are fighting at the same time. If they want to focus on Sheamus vs Neville, fine, but let Roman and Randy beat the crap out of each other in one of the corners and Kofi and Kane go at it outside the ring at the same time, etc. Instead you get wrestlers simply thrown out of the ring and then they lay there playing dead like they just got shot for 5 minutes while the entire action focuses on two given wrestlers in the ring. Give us the background action like in a Royal Rumble. Give us the other guys at least doing some basic wrestling moves on each other in the background while the focus is turned on the pair of wrestlers that WWE wants you to focus on.

I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. :D

It'd be a shame if they kept it live on Tuesdays. You basically front load the week with the two shows and then nothing until either PPV Sunday or the following Monday. Plus it would just throw too much at once. You have PPV Sunday, you get the immediate after reactions and setups for the next PPV with Raw, and then you get a couple days until the airing of the taped Smackdown. It just flows better throughout the week, rather than have PPV, Raw and Smackdown three days in a row.

Plus having it Monday/Tuesday would kill the setup for PPVs since you would have nothing between Tuesday and Sunday. At least now, you have Smackdown on Thursdays so it can sort of set the tone for a PPV Sunday just "three" days later.

Matt said on the podcast that having it on Tuesday is kinda good because then you're waiting longer and have more anticipation for Raw six says later.

I can see how on especially PPV weeks, how that will be overkill three days in a row.

Sad. Loved watching him as a kid. Made me so angry when he was the "bad guy" but he had such great entertainment value. I miss the 80's and 90's wrestling and wrestlers. Today it's all about roids and massive bodies where as in the past it was about the quality of entertainment.

Leaving for Dallas tomorrow! Cannot wait. It's gonna be a trip to remember with NXT Takeover and the historic debut of Shinsuke Nakamura, then a Ring Of Honor PPV on Saturday afternoon, with a meet and greet before the show. It really sucks, because after Rollins seemingly being the heavy favorite according to the IWC, which I too thought, they actually went through with putting the title on Balor, only to have him forced to give it up the very next night. That really sucks. I was looking forward to a Balor title run. Hopefully he heals up fast and they have a spot for him in the title picture when he gets back down the road.
