Even though he hasn't been wrestling for a several months, Rey Mysterio got tested as part of the Talent Wellness Program and failed for the second time.

WWE announced that Mysterio - referred by his real name of Oscar Gutierrez - has been suspended for sixty days effective today for his second violation of the company's policy.

The former champion hasn't wrestled since late August of last year after undergoing knee surgery. While he had knee problems for a while, he re-injured it during a live event against Alberto Del Rio in July.

In September, Mysterio underwent a second knee surgery to reinforce his posterior cruciate ligament after the first surgery corrected his ACL and PCL, and also removed bone spurs.

As noted before, Rey Mysterio was suspended for 60 days last week for violating the WWE Wellness Policy for a second time. Rey reportedly failed the drug test back on February 13th but wasn't suspended until this month.
Rey reportedly tested positive for amphetamines.

Rey showed up to the RAW Supershow on February 13th in San Diego but before he could settled in and say hello to everyone, he was informed that he had to go right in for drug testing. A week later, Vince McMahon was upset with Rey but at the time, nobody knew why.

Rey couldn't believe that he tested positive for amphetamines and says he has been living his life clean. WWE officials asked Mysterio about which medications he was taking and he was upfront about everything. A few days ago, officials called him and asked when he would be ready to return. Rey informed WWE that he could come back in June but was then told that he would have to wait another month because he was being suspended for 60 days.

Rey believes he failed the test because of something he took that caused the positive for amphetamines. WWE obviously did not buy his story as they went public with the failure last week.

Rey was scheduled to go to Japan in a few weeks to do promotional work for WWE but has been replaced by Alberto Del Rio.

The book description sounds pretty good. I may have to pick it up. Here is a snapshot from chapters.ca

Eric Bischoff: Controversy Creates Cash

by Eric Bischoff, Jeremy Roberts

World Wrestling Ente | June 5, 2007 | Trade Paperback

Eric Bischoff has been called pro wrestling''s most hated man. Booed, reviled, and burned in effigy, he''s been struck by everything from beer bottles to fists. Though industry critics have scorned his spectacular rise and fall at World Championship Wrestling, Bischoff''s influence still resonates. For years, Bischoff kept quiet while industry "pundits" distorted the truth about the infamous Monday Night Wars, basing their accounts on rumors and innuendo. Finally, Bischoff tells what really happened.
Beginning with his days as a salesman for the American Wrestling Association, Bischoff exposes the industry''s inner workings, from the real numbers behind WCW''s red ink to the devastating impact of the corporate mergers. Among his revelations: How WCW became a national brand and revolutionized the industry. How Hulk Hogan, Jesse Ventura, and Steve Austin shaped WCW, and how corporate politics killed it. And how he found his inner heel and learned to love being the guy everyone loves to despise.

Reflecting on his childhood, his family, and the pressures of notoriety, Bischoff tells how he found contentment after being unceremoniously "sent home." Love him or hate him, readers will never look at pro wrestling the same way again after reading Eric Bischoff''s story in Controversy Creates Cash.

The book description sounds pretty good. I may have to pick it up.My favorite part of the book is that he gives a lot of advice/hints on how they created some of the bigger WCW storylines. There are a lot of aspects of that book that are applicable to industries that have nothing to do with wrestling ... basically, any industry involving creativity has some application of what he says in the book. And that was very, very cool to me.

"Good luck to Alex Shelley, WWE-bound. A real talent. Let's c if he's used rite. Shame 2c MCMGs break up. Best tag team in U.S."

Also Dean Ambrose is working dark matches now for Raw and Smackdown, should be on TV soon I hope.

On this day in history - Sunday May 23, 1999 - The crowd inside the Kemper Arena fell silent on what turned out to be the saddest day in professional wrestling as an unfortunate accident took the life of Owen Hart. Owen was set to face off against The Godfather (Charles Wright) in a match for the Intercontinental Championship. Owen was set to be lowered from the ceiling of The Kemper Arena into the ring in superhero-like fashion. However, something went terribly wrong and rather than being lowered, Owen 78 feet straight down hitting chest first onto the top rope about a foot from the nearest turnbuckle throwing him into the ring.

Viewers at home did not witness the fall as at the moment the accident occured a pre-recorded vignette was shown. EMT's worked on Owen while commentator Jim Ross repeatedly told viewers watching the pay per view that this was not an angle and was not part of any storyline but a very unfortunate accident. Owen was transported to Truman Medical Centre where several attempts were made to revive him until he died from his injuries. Some believe Owen died in the ring. The cause of death was later revealed to have been internal bleeding from blunt chest traum. Owen Hart was 34 years old. 13 years have passed since that fateful night. Owen Hart may be gone, but will most certainly not be forgotten. May you rest in peace.

WWE Star Chris Jericho Suspended for Denigrating Brazilian Flag.

At a WWE Live Event in at São Paulo, Brazil, on Thursday evening, Chris Jericho reportedly denigrated the Brazilian flag during a match against WWE Champion CM Punk. Suspended indefinitely, Jericho responded to the incident in his own words.

“I made a bad judgment call in the course of entertaining [WWE] fans in Brazil,” Jericho told WWE.com. “I apologized to the people in the crowd for showing disrespect.”

During Jericho’s match with the WWE Champion at São Paulo’s Ginásio do Ibirapuera, the flag found its way into the ring, where Jericho crumpled it up and then kicked it.

Local law enforcement stopped the bout and gave Jericho the opportunity to apologize to those in attendance or face incarceration. The former World Champion expressed his regret to the crowd and the WWE Live Event continued.

Due to his actions, WWE officials suspended Jericho indefinitely.

“It was a bad move,” Jericho said. “I did it with [our] fans’ entertainment in mind and I’ll accept the consequences for that.”

I secretly hope they never do. Because if Cena turns his back on the kids, that has an impact far and above weekly ratings.

I was watching a re-run on monday night raw just now and degeneration X (1000 episode thing) was on makes me think how far wrestling has fallen even now they were more entertaining than what goes on with the guys who are still on every week (which is probably why I don't watch every week)

Wrestling just feels lame to me most of the time like they are trying to hard or something I can't put my finger on it.

I haven't watched wrestling in years, but this just caught my eye on Facebook, posted by Deadspin at 10:36pm. I just turned on USA, there is no commentary anymore for the rest of the night, just the matches going on.

Jerry Lawler Collapses During Live Raw; Has CPR Performed As Michael Cole Informs Viewers “This Is Not Part Of The Show”

http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/17qv83mc7vwf5jpg/avt-small.jpg Timothy Burke

WWE's Raw has gone silent in Montreal tonight as wrestling legend Jerry "The King" Lawler collapsed at the announcer's desk and immediately received CPR during tonight's live airing of the program.

The show's currently airing without commentary as host Michael Cole informed viewers of Lawler's condition and assured them that it was "not part of the show."

Spectators at the event can be seen in the above video completely ignoring the action in the ring and focusing on the medical attention being given to Lawler on the right side of the screen.

Cole attempted to continue with the commentary before apparently being pulled off the broadcast. The Montreal crowd, meanwhile, is chanting Lawler's name. We'll update this post as we learn for information. [USA]

From WWE.com.

http://www.wwe.com/shows/raw/2012-09-10/jerry-lawler-collapses-at-announce-table

During the tag team match between Kane & Daniel Bryan and The Prime Time Players tonight on Raw, viewers may have noticed members of the audience and WWE production team staring toward the commentary booth, as well as the absence of Jerry “The King” Lawler’s voice. WWE.com has learned that the WWE Hall of Famer collapsed at the announcers' table and was tended to in the locker room area by WWE medical staff. Lawler was then taken from the arena to a medical facility in Montreal.

We will have updates on Lawler’s condition as this story progresses.

UPDATE: Here is the full text of Michael Cole's address to the WWE Universe.

"I’m sure you’ve noticed Jerry Lawler hasn’t been active in the past couple of matches. A little bit earlier tonight, Jerry passed out here at ringside. Jerry collapsed and was helped to the back. He was stretchered to the back to the locker room area. We understand now that Jerry is receiving medical attention as we speak. They are performing CPR. This is not part of tonight’s entertainment. This has happened. Again, Jerry Lawler collapsed at ringside tonight and they are performing CPR as we speak in the locker room area and we will have more information as Raw rolls on tonight."

UPDATE: Michael Cole addressed the WWE Universe again and informed the audience that Lawler is breathing on his own but that the situation is "serious." Out of respect to "The King," there will be no further commentary on the show this evening.

Cole gave a final update as Raw went off air for the night. Jerry's condition has stabilized, he's breathing on his own and his heart is beating on it's own and he's being prepared for a CAT scan on his chest and his head.

Like I said, I haven't watch wrestling in at least 7 years, but Jerry and JR were the announcers on Raw back in the days I did watch. When I saw that story about Jerry, that was least got me interested in what was happening and how he was doing. Shit like that is always an extremely scary situation, not having a clue what exactly is wrong and how bad it is or will get.

Well, I know they've done some pretty head scratching storylines in the past, but I sincerely hope that they wouldn't sink so low as to make a damn storyline with something like a heart attack. There are some things that just cross the line when it comes to shit like their storylines, and having a heart attack crosses that line.

Stuff like heart attacks are very serious to me, especially since my dad's doctor in the past has told him that he's a prime candidate for a "drop dead" heart attack, between being a smoker, having high blood pressure and other stuff. To make something as serious as a heart attack into a damn storyline would go way over the line for me.

baseballplyrmvp

i doubt its a storyline too....especially with how sincere michael cole was coming across in his updates. whether that was just good acting, idk.

the only reason i said that punk had something to do with it, was because about 10 minutes into the show, punk and bret hart were in the ring together talking, and punk asked how lawler was feeling that night. its probably a coincidence though.

Yeah, everything makes it seem like it's not a storyline. It's been reported in multiple media outlets, there was a brief story/blurb about it on one of the pages into the sports section of today's local rag.

For everything that has been said about it, that he had to receive CPR, that he heart had stopped for a period of time, etc, I really hope that WWE would not be so desperate to go with a storyline of a heart attack and whomever going through all of that.

If this turned out to be a storyline, why should I believe ANYTHING that the WWE might say in the future regarding something happening to the health of one of their wrestlers or one of the announcers or whoever, when I know they're willing to fake a heart attack for a storyline?

Yep, while I may not have really watched WWE since the mid-2000s, I knew they were still sticking with their wtf stories. This would just be so unlike them. Former hall of famers reaching out on twitter, newspapers and news organizations reporting on the story in their sports sections, that's a hell of a long way to go and a lot of arm twisting (probably) to get them to do that. It's been years since I've seen anything WWE related in the sports of the local rag, not since the Benoit tragedy.

I will be honest, I thought it was a work at first. Anyone remember when Ric Flair had a "heart attack" in the middle of the ring on WCW Monday Nitro? I have been a Jerry Lawler fan long before he came to the WWE announce booth. His work in the old Mid-South territory was amazing. I think it's safe to say we have seen the last of Lawler in the ring. He has had one heck of a career. I hope he is able to pull through this and lead a normal life.

JeffHCross
09-13-2012, 08:39 PM
If it was a work, they pulled the wool over everyone's eyes. Everybody's been reporting it. It was front-page news on Google News, in the Sports section even.

Plus, if this was a work, it would have been something they brought major attention to, with cameras focused on him and everything, and not something that was (relatively) subtle.

The fact that Cole, from what I've read, said nothing to the in-attendance audience just gives me more reason to believe it was completely legit. One fan/journalist who was in attendance compared it to Owen's death, and how there was no information passed to the audience during the show.

I'm surprised HHH's longest wrong is so short and that Cena's longest is so long. At one time, I felt like HHH had the belt for year's and everytime I'd turn the WWE on, Cena was losing the belt or fighting to get the belt back.

I think the key is that Cena was carrying the Raw brand for a loooong time, with very little established competition at some points.

But, there's a reason why this list starts 25 years ago. Of the 13 reigns before 1987 (the belt was introduced in 1963, a period of 24 years), only 6 were less than 380 days. Bruno Sammartino held the belt for nearly 8 years. How things have changed. Obviously, TV changed the patience of long reigns, considerably, but still, the difference is stunning.

Ric Flair Possibly Returning to WWE Next Monday on Raw

A report from PWInsider.com courtesy of WrestlingInc.com says,

People close to Ric Flair are saying that he will be returning to WWE at the October 29th RAW from Charlotte, North Carolina. The belief is that he will be getting involved in the storyline with AJ Lee, Vickie Guerrero and John Cena.

The Nature Boy returns to be immediately involved in a storyline centered around alleged scandal, the company's top star, the hottest/youngest of the company's females and a struggle for power.

It all sounds about right.

Flair can return to WWE, but shouldn't wrestle. His talents can be used in every other capacity but an opponent for someone else.

The best talent Ric Flair has is being Ric Flair. The name sums up an attitude and lifestyle.

He can be involved in soap opera shenanigans and make it work. He can be paired with an up-and-coming star like a Dolph Ziggler and it can help that star. He can be on commentary.

(Well, Flair on commentary might take away from the match—not on purpose, but when Ric Flair speaks, he is the center of attention.)

WWE needs a shot in the arm. They just had the worst ratings showing in 15 years. They were up against a lot of competition, but still, a big name legend returning would only help.

As of now, it's all a rumor but certainly adds suspense to Monday's Raw.

Is AJ Lee tall enough to ride space mountain? WOOOOOO!

match just finished...... dont click the spoiler if you dont wanna know the outcome....obviously

punk wins. ryback sets him up for his finisher, when the ref interferes and low blows ryback; punk rolls him up and the ref gives a quick count giving punk the win. punk and the ref try escaping the steel cage, but they cant get the door open. ryback recovers and goes ape shit, throwing punk into the cage and beating the crap out of the ref. punk escapes the cage but not ryback, who tries to swing him into the outside of the cage, but punk kind of counters this and jumps onto the cage and starts climbing it. ryback goes after him and both end up on top of the cage. ryback hits his finisher and they're both lucky the fencing didnt break, sending them crashing down to the ring like in foley/undertaker.

:D Check out the hacked Wiki article on WWE Ref Brad Maddox.

Maddox was promoted to the main roster as a referee in August 2012.

That year, in the Hell in a Cell event held on October 28 in Atlanta, Maddox was the official for the WWE Championship match between Goldberg and champion CM Punk. At the end of the contest, as Goldberg was going for his finisher, Maddox stepped in and told Goldberg to not do so. He then low-blowed Goldberg in the testicles, allowing CM Punk to pin Goldberg, and quickly counted to three, thus helping CM Punk retain the WWE Title. After the match, Goldberg press slammed Maddox from the ring into the cell structure. As cameras stopped rolling, Maddox was being attended to by WWE personnel. No immediate word was available regarding his condition.

Yeah. Exactly. I was more worried about Big Show carrying a long championship match, but that match with Sheamus was AWESOME last night, and went right at 20 minutes. I'm glad he's holding the strap now. Probably his last title run of his career. I hope he carries it all the way to Wrestlemania. He's been doing a good job in this heel run.

I'm very curious to see how the ref screwjob will play out on Raw tonight.

Rumble Predictions:

Surprise Entrants: John Morrison, Jack Swagger, Undertaker, then maybe an old timer like Ricky Steamboat.

Longest in the Rumble: Dolph Ziggler (maybe about 50 minutes - he's going to be the performer of the match)

Most Eliminations: Ryback

Winner: Either Undertaker (if he enters - having doubts he will) or John Cena (which seems to be the obvious) or Antonio Cesaro (Dark Horse)

NatureBoy

Cena is my pick as well. I would be shocked if he didn't win the Rumble.

i have a live stream going of the rumble if anyone wants the link. the site i'm watching on, lags a little and its quality is poor, but once you wait til all of the ads are able to be closed and pop the video into full screen, you'll be able to watch it.

Because the WWE wants Rock/Cena II with the title on the line this time.

Either Rock wins tonight, or he wins at the Chamber next month.

Is Rock "really" back or is he just going to run until WM and basically going to do 2 matches tonight and WM? Seems odd Vince would "waste" the opportunity to promote someone else at WM that actually was going to be around.

hell if they are all that good i'd start watching every week again. i stopped following closely around 03-05. i was in law school and i just didn't find it entertaining anymore. prior to that i watched EVERY Raw, Smackdown, PPV from 96/97-02. my buddies and i even went to several shows:

1. Raw after Owen Heart died
2. Iron Man Match HHH v. The Rock PPV
3. Rock's 1st Title when he beat Mankind in the Deadly Games Tourny
4. I believe the debut of Val Venis at a Raw as well
5. Other Raws in St. Louis, Nashville, Memphis, Cinci, Louisville

Basically if they had a show in that area there from 96-02 we went.

LMAO that reminds me of the reactions that I saw when people went to the Rock HHH iron man match at Judgment Day ppv in Louisville. Undertaker returns at the very end to take out HHH but HBK (special guest referee) gives a DQ and thus HHH becomes the new champion. People were throwing shit all over the place and cussing/screaming as they were leaving the arena and it was the LOUDEST crowd I have EVER heard anywhere.

Sounds like the Punk Rock \m/ rematch is going to take place at Elimination Chamber. Which is confusing, because that means the WWE Title Chamber match would be for the #1 contender, so maaaybe it's a triple threat? Honestly I don't know. I'm sure we'll get a clearer picture tonight. The Chamber is only 3 weeks away, so I'm 110% sure we'll get a clearer picture tonight.
