View Full Version : Features - First Rd: Simplified Create-a-Play vs. Continue Dynasty in Next Version
As always, vote for the item you prefer. However, also state how you would like both features implemented into the game and indicate any specific elements you would (or would not) like to see added for each item.
Simplified Create-a-Play (Existing Play Modifier, Savable)
Creating a play from scratch has been a highly requested feature in football titles, but there has always been the concern that these plays could exploit the CPU AI. However, some in the community have asked for a Play Editor that would allow them to only modify existing plays that would then be saved and kept in playbooks. For example, if a player routinely executes one particular hot route to a certain play, he could modify and save that play with the route and never have to make the in-game adjustment again.
Continue Dynasty from One Version to the Next
NCAA Football Dynasty fanatics put in many years with their squads and often find themselves somewhat sad to end a long-running Dynasty when the new version of the game comes out. This feature would give the option to import the last roster of a Dynasty from one version of the game to the next, with school, coach, & stat attributes coming along as well. Currently, users can bring their team over via TeamBuilder – though that is a long tedious process to do so.

Continue Dynasty from One Version to the Next, for the love of god, please. I hate starting completely over with a new dynasty when opening up the next version, instead of being able to continue where I was in the previous. You're then forced to either keep playing the old game to continue the dynasty, play the new game but start over, basically resulting in the old dynasty being nothing more than a waste of time, or sit there trying to copy over your team's roster, stat for stat, player for player so you can, at least on the level of your own team, keep the dynasty continuing.

simplified create a play. it seems like on every play that i'm on defense, i have to make some adjustments.....this would give us the ability to alter the default plays.
one of the fun things about dynasty mode, is building up a crappy school into a powerhouse. i understand the point for continuing dynasties and the amount of time and effort invested in it, but to me, it gets boring really quick, when i get to the point in dynasty mode where 3/4ths of my roster is rated 85 or above.

I have finally come over to the dark side on this issue. I now really want to see CONTINUE DYNASTY... just when you have finally started to build a dynasty, a new version comes out and you start over. With coaching carousel now in place, more than ever I want to see continue dynasty as a major feature.

Yep. Take, for instance, my coaching carousel dynasty (which I need to get back up and running. :fp:). I have rules laid out that span over 12-20 years of a career. I would be lucky to get beyond about 12-15 seasons before NCAA 13 came out, and that would be spending no more than 2-3 weeks per season (for the entire season) in the dynasty. So basically I'm sitting here rushing and not getting to enjoy it at a leisurely pace because I'm trying to cram as many games and seasons as possible in before the new game comes out and I start all over again with a new dynasty. Continuing dynasties from one year to the next is very much needed.

Continue Dynasty from One Version to the Next
It was close but this one is something I would use more often.

I went with the create a play. For me I enjoy starting over on my dynasties on the new game so this was an easy choice for me.
What I don't like is like mentioned when I have to hot route a certain few plays constantly. It would be nice to use a simple version that would allow such changes. It could also pave the way for the future on this front as well.

Continue dynasty on to a new version. But both A Create a play mode and a continue dynasty need to be in next game.

Absolutely Simplified Create-a-Play. I understand the argument/discouragement from a full-fledged Create-a-Play, but the simplified would be huge, particularly on the defensive side.
Create-a-play. Although I doubt I'd use either of these features.

Create -a- play. For me when the next season of College Football starts I like to start fresh with this years team as there is so much hype built up before the actual season starts.

This is tough, but I'd like to be able to take one offline dynasty and continue it over many iterations of the game.

Simplified Create-a-Play
Would it be cool to be able to Continue Dynasty in Next Version? Sure. But thinking of the programming involved, I could see significant issues lingering when you consider that Dynasty mode never remains 100% the same from game to game. I would never say that such an idea should not be considered, but it doesn't get my vote here.
Simplified Create-a-Play--where only minor changes within the play are saved--would be great to me. It would certainly save a lot of time in the game pre-snap if you don't need to hot-route multiple defenders/receivers before you snap the ball. And--theoretically--we wouldn't have to worry about somebody creating a "super play" that destroys any defense put in front of it.

I've said it many times before that not being able to continue a dynasty (or, at least, do something relatively similar like transfer a team or roster file) has been the deciding factor in several years of unpurchased NCAA games. Whenever I get incredibly involved in a dynasty, I'm significantly less likely to purchase the next year's game, unless the features just blow me away.

Sure, I'd love to see the history preserved, but a lot of the history isn't preserved even within a dynasty, from year to year.

I really want to see continue dynasty primarily because of CC this year. I am in year seven and my ultimate goal has been to get to Indiana. Currently I am at Cal and last year I won the NC. Indiana has a pretty good programme right now and for the next few years I don't see any openings. If a spot doesn't open I will probably stay at Cal until it does. However, let's say I play three more seasons and then I do get offered a job at Indiana... by that time it will be NCAA 13 and I will NOT have the time to play multiple seasons and build up another dynasty before swithcing over to that game. CONTINUE DYNASTY just has so much potential.

CONTINUE DYNASTY...teambuilder makes this so much easier than in the past
I voted for Simplified Create-a-Play. To have certain hot routes saved would be such a time-saver during games.

Being so close I think that CONTINUE DYNASTY should get a lifelife and be a number one seed in the losers bracket.
Ha! As of now, we don't have a Loser's Bracket planned but maybe after all the primary brackets are finished we can have an 8 (or 16) item bracket for all of these items that lost in relatively narrow margins.
Judging by the close vote and comments, it's pretty clear Continue Dynasty is important to a lot of people.

I think it would be interesting to try a losers bracket and ultimately rank features on popularity and see what it would actually look like as a master list.
