Tulsa Racked up some hardware this year
FS Dexter McCoil : Chuck Bednarik, Jim Thorpe - 91 solo tackles
DT Derrick Jackson : Lombardi, Bronko Nagurski - NCAA Record 29.5 sacks
Conference USA Champs , AutoZone Libertybowl winners 33-10
LibertyBowl - the cold weather made it hard for UCONN to hold on to the ball while the Tulsa D forced 9 fumbles recovering 7.
It will be hard to top this defense again, 54 forced turnovers, only 710 rushing yards allowed, Only 143 pts allowed, 70 sacks( somehow RICE still beats me in sacks ( with 88+ )
12-2 season , but might still want to leave because i had alot of senior talent and do not think all the 3 star talent will come in hot.

Ready... For next season, not playing both sides of the ball sucks. My D couldn't stop a high school offense.. I take back my earlier comments about not leaving State. I will have to see if I get offered a head coaching gig

The Mean Green with a Great comeback to beat Miami University in the GoDaddy.com bowl to improve to 7-6. We were down 27-0 going into the second quarter. It was looking like North Texas was going to be
blown out. Then a QB switch to the back up sparked the offense to go into half only down by ten points at 17-27 . Then after half time North Texas scored on their opening drive to make it a 3 point game . Miami however took control the rest of the 3rd quarter and took an 18 point lead going into the 4th. The Mean Green would not give up though They scored 4 times in the fourth quarter and the defense did not give up a point. We tied the game at 58-58 with a two point conversion with two mins to go. Then a three and out on defense and we rolled down the field and kicked a field goal as time expired to take in 61-58 . It was a good second half of the season after they fired the oc and I got hired winning five out of 6 games to make a bowl and then going on to win it.

Great recap, Waldner!
That's an amazing comeback. In last year's GBN I ran the Miami U, so it's a bittersweet score for me. I was hoping Dat U could pull out the W but its nice to see how you've turned around the program for the Mean Green.

Southern Miss travels to Hawai'i to face Fresno St in the Hawai'i bowl.
The Golden Eagles came up on the short end of the stick 38-28.
I'm not sure how the game catagorizes drops. My QB was 18-43 which is horrible, every time I'd pass it the WRs would drop the ball. The announcers would clearly say, "Oh and he DROPS IT".
However at the end of the game I looked at the stats and out of the 10 different receives I threw to, only 1 had 1 drop??????
I'm not sure how that works. Either way, I can't compete when my QB is only completing 41% of his passes.
There's always next season.
USM is ready for the offseason.
