After looking at the first look of Windows 8, I'm not impressed. I don't want Windows Phone OS on my PC.

Crap. I definitely won't be getting this at release like I did with WIN 7 :D

I still haven't ever upgraded to WIN 7. I'm still running 64-bit Vista that came installed when I bought this laptop. It's done just fine for me without any issues, so I've never seen any need or point in upgrading my OS. If that's what WIN 8 looks like, I think I'm going to stick with Vista a while longer.

I really like Windows 7.

Yeah but I dunno if there will be enough there for me to upgrade.

OK... so I was sorta right.

From Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/13/windows-8-for-tablets-hands-on-preview/):

The normal desktop view, which will play host to your more serious applications like Excel and Photoshop, is treated just like your Twitter client and RSS feed. It's an app like any other on the Start page, but in reality it's an entirely different user interface.

So basically you start in the "Metro UI", and then can launch the "desktop app".

In my opinion, that is really stupid. There better be some system setting to make it always start up in the desktop. When I get on my computer, I want to sign in and be on my desktop and then do things from there. It may be minor, but it's stupid as hell if you have to load up into some dumbass thing and then access the desktop from that.

While I don't own a PS3, I'd imagine it would basically be like loading up the PS3 into Playstation Home and then having to go from there to get to whatever screen/window you normally start up in on PS3. Stupid as hell extra steps that are completely unneeded and unnecessary.

Well. It's time to kick Windows to the side and start using Ubuntu or some other distro of Linux I guess, once Windows 7 is no longer supported, that is.

I still haven't installed this yet but one thing I already know I'll hate... the Start button now takes you to the Metro UI.

The first video here is a pretty good walkthrough
http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/16/windows-8-on-a-laptop-in-depth-preview-video/

I'll still be installing this on my netbook in due time... just no rush to do so yet.
