Week 10 Now Open
Please complete by August 23, 2011 7:00 a.m. CST
No GBN v. GBN this week
FYI/Reminder - If you do not use/need all of your recruiting time but are finished please remember to set your status to "Ready to Advance". I think everyone finished early this week but there were 3 or 4 of you who didn't use all of your recruiting time and so you didn't give me the green light to advance.
Thanks!

Took advantage of some TCU turnovers and the defense was solid overcoming the odds and beating TCU 35-21. Hopes are high following the upset and bowl dreams have begun again. The win is also huge as 7 recruits were on hand to witness the magic. Next up is an away game at Air Force followed by Senior Day against New Mexico.

Rice keeps its slim chances of making a bowl game alive with a 4th quarter come from behind win over in-state rival UTEP. Coach Wyatt's defense continues to impress and has got to be getting close to the all-time record for team sacks in a season. The Owls may even end up with more sacks than Obama's budget deficit.
Can the Owls run the table to become bowl eligible? Stay tuned...

Ball State has showed up as 2 different teams this season. In todays game against Eastern Michigan, the Cardinals, came out firing on all cylinders. The defense played amazing only allowing 7 points. But, the real story is Ball State's 3rd string QB who after injuries to both first and second string QBs in the first quarter stepped in throwing for over 300 yards and 3 TD's.. First year OC TJ Craig's comments following todays win, "We prepare our guys to be ready to play when called on, and today really showed that. All this does is give us depth at the quarterback position." Ball State needs to win its final 2 games to become bowl eligible.

Well we did it! Against all the pundits and nay-sayers advice, we have overcome one of the our biggest challenges. No one gave us a chance, either. That's the best part. We've been toiling away in the hot Vegas weather and it finally paid off. Boise State never knew what hit them! The mighty Running Rebels held the #11 Broncos to only 75 points!! That's way under what was posted on Harrah's big board minutes before the kickoff. Not only did we cover the under, we covered the spread! UNLV got 17 points to keep things interesting, but the real story is just how wrong my defense is.
WTF is going on over here? So Boise State and I trade a first quarter full of three play drives that end in a kick, with a slight difference. Twice, two of my first three plays were holding penalties, so twice, I'm facing 3rd and 20. After my punts, Boise State goes three and out. Althought they scored a TD each time, so their kick was an extra point. I changed the O-line settings to conservative, which helped slow down the holdings...only three more the rest of the way...but the linemen look like Matadors yelling Ole! as they sidestepped the bull rushes. 21-0 after one.
I finally sustain a real drive and my RB fumbles at the 5 yard line. The replay shows he fumbled on his second bounce on the ground, so I don't hit the challenge and wait for the overturn. Next play - the CPU sims a 35 yard pass for a little breathing room.
The most enjoyable time happened when my defense actually made a stop around midfield, only to have Boise convert the 4th and long. It happened once for sure, and maybe twice. Both times they were already up 30+, so this was midway through the second quarter. I just don't know how to stop the flooding.

Tulane drops another 7-33
penalties are still a problem with 9 penalties for 82 yards keeping SMU drives alive.
The Tulane Offense struggles once again with only one score on the day.
That 4 win season is seems tough to get now.
Junior Shakeil Smith is still looking for hardware with a league leading 59 solo tackles, 37 TFL , and a league leading 10 sacks.
4 new 3 star recruits committed also

Guys - if there's anyway we could bump the league early this week it would help me. I'll be taking off for a couple of days and may have to request the SIM otherwise. The SIM would probably be the best thing for my team, but still, since I've fucked this group up my own damn self, I might as well drive us all the way to the bottom of the well myself.

I'm one of the most penalized teams in the nation. I think the penalties are good at where they are.

Please stay patient, you might not be getting the W's but you are active on here and sometimes I've seen in these ODs you just have to wait to get your own recruits. Then once you get your system going with your players then it all falls into place.
I played in an OD with my buddys last year, I was North Texas, I couldn't win a game all year. I ended up finally getting a QB that could keep the ball inside the sidelines and then the 2nd year I was .500, then the next year it all started working.
I maybe be WAY off here but I think that's a lot of the reasoning behind my wins. NMST is a defualt SPREAD team so when I took the RnS to them I think the personnel just matched up. I know I can't run for crap, so maybe that's why.
I will also say for a 1* team I have an AWESOME QB, he can actually throw corner routes and keep them on the playing field and deep middle throws into the heart of cover 2, he can make them just fine.
In other 1* ODs I'm in, my QBs play like they put pads on for the first time in their lives, every week.

Thanks, brother. I'm certainly good at whoring, and have a few decent kids lined up. Inheriting the right system is nice, but i'm not good enough to be switching offenses so fast. I do think I get in a rut with my play calls, but my 67 defdense is no match for Boise's 99 offense. And like I wrote before, if I'm down 21-0 after the first, i'm not going to get back in the game with PA read options.
I knew what I was getting into. I choose UNLV because they had a lot of youth. The QB is a true SOPH, his backup is a RS frosh. the tailback is a true Soph, and two of the top WRs are a true frosh and RS Soph. Even the D has a lot of young starters, so I was hoping to get the natural development instead of trying to wait to recruit up and train them. It would just be nice to see a little progression on my side. At least I'm chipping away at my goals, so I'll have a job next season.
Don't worry, though. I'm not going anywhere no matter how bad I suck. The only thing that would put my time in jeopardy is the evil reign of the shepard of the devil that I bed with every night. When the Mrs. ain't happy, no one is happy. And right now, she's got too much other stuff going on to notice I'm balling.
