We're moving pretty good now guys. Keep it up.

2nd week of Heisman, report here when you are ready to advance and also let us know how your game plays so we can make adjustments if necessary.

Got behind early and came back within 7 but never got any closer and I'm starting to think we will need to make some adjustments to sliders.
I'm been testing steelerfan's AA sliders and they are pretty damn tough, but fair.
I played through my first 5 games with them today and went 2-3 just like I am now but with losses to the 3 I should have lost, Mich, Illi, UConn and wins over FCS and CMU. All were very good games and realistic, I felt like I had a shot to win the games I lost and the CMU game was a battle that I won close. I did notice rushing was very difficult so we may adjust that a little if we go that route. Just want to find a good base set and start fine tuning.

I definitely think something is amiss. Ohio and Kent St are fairly evenly matched. But, for the 2'nd straight game there was no way I was coming close to winning this game. Ohio lived in my backfield. 11 sacks on me, with a mixture of shotgun and quick passes being called throughout the night. My HB averaged 1.x YPC. Just a really blah game more than anything. 2 in a row in fact. I joked earlier with coach Kernzy that they played more like Ohio State than Ohio. Ah well.

Yeah I'm really thinking about going to steelerfan's AA sliders for next week.
I know Smooth and others are using those sliders so if you have let us know what you think of them. I'm played 5 games with them and I really like them but I do think we'll need to adjust them just slightly.

That's how I felt against Michigan, but then I did extremely well against PSU.

Coach Kernzy

But from what I've seen in our games the running game has been useless and the passing game is something we've all had to rely on to move the ball at all.

Heisman may just be for those thumb jockeys that have to create the hardest challenge they can get from the CPU.

May not be for us.

It's good to know that I halped Redd or whoever make the Heisman list in that PSU game.

Running game...need....bad.....

Thats the biggest difference I've seen. No ability to run whatsoever.

In what could be one of the greatest games no one will care about in NCAA Football history, Eastern Michigan pulls off a, literally, last-second victory 34-32. In the last 45 seconds, Akron and EMU put up enough passing yards to equal an entire game. 4 touchdowns were scored, an almost game ending 2pt. conversion interception run back, a hail mary, and a broken coverage mistake were just a few of the crazy plays.

EMU's passing game was almost non-existant until the second half. They relied on their HB Sherrer to carry the load for most of the game.

Notes for the OD: The run game was there for me. Great running, and not too out of control. Only had one huge run, the rest were small to mid-sized runs with a decent amount of tackles at the line or in the backfield. Early on, Akron looked like they were going to whollop me, but I stuck to the game plan and kept running because anytime I passed, my receivers would play dumb. It was ugly at first.

I posted the last 45 seconds of video on the website so you can see how crazy it went.

Coach Kernzy

Interesting, Akron is actually the worst team ratings wise in the game so it kind of sucks you had to win last second but I guess that's what Heisman is doing to us.

I'm conversing with steelerfan regarding his sliders and coach mode to see what we can come up with.

Sounds good. EMU is pretty close to as bad though. I got worried at first, and was about to post something about me being down by 2 td's or something. Seemed wrong at first. But, as the game went on, it all leveled out. They couldn't run against me very well, other than a couple of good option plays they used. One went for a TD. I thought the game played well this week. Last week against PSU, I had fun, but I probably shouldn't have kept it that close. If I can win 50% of my games in-conference, I'll be excited. Sometimes, I think the key is to stick to your game plan and don't get freaked out when they start pulling away. Call good plays, make a few adjustments and it should be okay. But, I'm good with whatever we do.

The play before that last second td of mine, I got sacked and thought it was completely over. At the last second, I called a time out, just to give it one last throw. It worked. I almost didn't do it because I was so pissed that they scored that hail mary, and I couldn't get that 2pt conversion interception all the way back. Good thing I did!!

Ok....Memphis has to be the dumbest bunch of football players to ever hit the field...Comical just how stupid my players are. This is a rebuilding job that will last a long time. The football gods hate Memphis as well. Long run=Holding penalty, Good drive ALWAYS ends with a Int or Fumble in the redzone ALWAYS. Opposing WHITE QB runs on my defense like he is Mike Vick or something while my guys stand there and watch him run right by. We make EVERY QB look like the second coming of Joe Montana. I belive I will sim all of my games for now on as they somehow seem to find a way to atleast score a few tds while simming.
I honestly think that I will start EVERY True Freshman next year just to show the rest of my thugs who is REALLY in charge. ARRRGGHHH.
I got so frustrated that I turned the reigns over to the CPU in the 2nd qtr. My son was laughing so hard while watching me get upset that he began to cry.

I noticed that score... what the hell! Did you try subbing in your second-stringers to see if anything changed?

Underdog

Second Stringers will be starters the rest of the year I promise.

Probably a good move. You may lose more, but they will get experience and gain more ability points. Put in all your best non-seniors in your depth chart I say.

Coach Kernzy
08-07-2011, 06:39 PM
OK I did some testing and this is what we'll do for week 6 coming up.

Up user Run Blocking, Pass Blocking and RB Ability to 55
Lower all CPU defense stuff to 45

In the games I played this allowed for us to have some running success and also slowed the pass rush just enough to get more passes off, screen passes weren't guaranteed sacks and overall the user offense just felt better.

I made those changes because the way I see it the CPU offense is just about right but ours wasn't so those are the changes I made to help that situation.

I played several halves against my opponent from this week, UConn and I still lost every time but they were closer and I did have some offensive success, just not enough. I also simmed the game a few times to get an idea of what should happen and I usually lost by 3 TDs or so in the sims.
I then played my next game Bowling Green and I'm almost a full letter grade better and I was winning at half but got a couple breaks and their offense was playing well, I was just having good success on offense against their D.

Excited to play after my last two amazing games.

Coach Kernzy
08-08-2011, 12:07 PM
Yeah I am going to make those minor adjustments I mentioned above for next week which should open up our running game a bit and not give us quite as many sacks.

Archedemius
08-08-2011, 12:12 PM
I have a tough game against Toledo this coming week too.

Coach Kernzy
08-08-2011, 12:33 PM
Yeah you probably aren't going to win many games with that team no matter what the sliders are?
However I'm trying to strike a good balance between realism, fun and the ability to compete.

Archedemius
08-08-2011, 12:38 PM
I'm fine if I lose, I'm EMU. I'm not fine when, for example, a 7x-8x DL gets bulled over by a 6x HB though. Keep up the good work with the sliders! Of course, almost winning games I'm not suppose to is fun too!

SO what do you do when the AI cheeses?????

Constantly does the no huddle, and then, with 4 minutes left in the first quarter and ULL with the lead, the ULL AI went for it on 4th and 3.... Unbelievable.

They just tried for a 61 yard FG with 1:26 left in 1st half....

3rd quarter: they tried a 59 yarder....

Coach Kernzy
08-08-2011, 06:26 PM
Lots of aggressive coaches in college, for instance their kicking game is no good or they just think their offense is very good they go for it often.
We're adjusting sliders slightly going into next week so hopefully we're getting closer to a good slider set.

I hate when that happens... I have to burn a timeout just so I can get my guys some rest. I may have to recruit solely on stamina LOL!

Gnarlymutt
08-08-2011, 07:20 PM
Dude, ULL is brutal with the no huddle. They ran the same stuff against me and the QB has no problems tucking and running if it's open...

natcret
08-08-2011, 07:35 PM
WON !!! with 16 sec left in regulation...unbelievable!!!!! ( 9 minute quarters are killer btw)

Will have recruiting done in 15 mins

Really had a fight..... Really came down to calling the right play on the goal line on 3rd down. Since I had no RUNNING ;) game to speak of, I still had 1 timeout left so I knew if I missed, I could go for the FG.....

Very cool win!
